I'm 60, grew up with Superman on TV. I've just now (April 2006) read this book and can only wish it had been published sooner. I also wish we had recordings of Noel in her vocal work with the notable big bands of her youth. I can't find a website to convey to her my admiration but hope she will see this somehow. She is a genuinely wholesome, sparkling personality--the text and photos both reveal this. ALL the photos are great, but my favorites are on pages 14, 49, and 51. Get the book and see what I mean. The Lois Lane character did not fully showcase what a beautiful woman she was and is. I recommend the purchase of this book for all Baby Boomers. Thanks, Noel! And thanks to Jack Larson for a great intro to the book and to author Larry Ward for bringing it to us.
'Truth, Justice, & The American Way:The Life And Times Of Noel Neill' by Larry Thomas Ward is a must-have book for all movie fans and afficionados of the 1950's television series 'The Adventures Of Superman', which starred George Reeves. Noel Neill made over 80 feature films and also played Lois Lane in two Columbia serials 'Superman' (1948) ands 'Atom Man VS Superman' (1950). She joined the series in it's second season and made 78 episodes, a U.S. Treasury 'Superman' film for savings bonds, and extensive personal appearances with the TV cast! This volume contains hundreds of rare photographs, most never before seen from Ms. Neill's personal collection. The book has a detailed listing of Neill's extensive, film, stage and TV credits. Noel Neill does not place herself in the controversy surrounding the mysterious death of George Reeves, as to whether it was homicide or suicide. She does detail the final days of Reeves and of the series, leaving unmistakable clues to the discering reader to follow. Several books have been published on Reeves' bizarre death, but Ms. Neill and the author Larry Thomas Ward recommend only one to the interested readers to follow up on! 'Truth, Justice, & The American Way' is a fascinating book on the the incredible life of actress Noel Neill.
