It’s Easter, and this year Tucker is helping the Easter Bunny hide eggs. But the talented terrier might be too good at hiding them!

Tucker loves spring, when there’s plenty of soft dirt for digging holes to bury his bones and toys. When the Easter Bunny notices Tucker’s excellent digging skills, he asks the pup for help hiding this year’s Easter eggs. But Tucker is so good at his job that the eggs are impossible for the children to find! Luckily for them, there’s a little terrier nearby who knows just where to look!

About the Author

Leslie McGuirk has written and illustrated several books about Tucker, including Gobble, Gobble, Tucker; Lucky Tucker; and Tucker’s Spooky Halloween. She is also the author-illustrator of The Moogees Move House and other picture books. She is well known in Japan, where her artwork appears on everything from T-shirts to toilet-seat covers. Leslie McGuirk lives in Vero Beach, Florida.

The canine star of Lucky Tucker, Gobble, Gobble, Tucker! and other holiday board books returns in a whimsical Easter story, in which he uses his digging skills to aid the Easter Bunny as he hides his eggs. McGuirk’s naïf gouache images continue to charm (Tucker’s delighted reaction to the Easter Bunny costume he gets to wear is an especially fun moment), and Tucker gets to save the day not once but twice: helping the Easter Bunny in the first place, then helping the local children find the eggs, since the duo “hid them so well that no one could find them!” Ages 2–5. Tucker the lively white terrier returns in his fourth holiday board book (Gobble, Gobble, Tucker, 2014, etc.). This time he uses his digging skills to help the Easter Bunny hide Easter eggs, wearing a pair of ears and a cotton ball tail as a disguise. Unfortunately, he hides them so well the kids can't find them, and so he must help them by digging out all the Easter eggs again. Children involved in the egg hunt have dark as well as light skin tones and hair color. McGuirk's simple gouache cartoon illustrations use child-friendly black outlines and vibrant colors; however, the Easter Bunny has the exact same expression throughout the book, making it difficult to guess whether he is happy or upset. Despite the board-book format, slight story, and childish illustrations, this offering will work best with kids older than toddlers, as it demands familiarity with the concept of Easter eggs and Easter egg hunts. Skip this for toddlers still learning about Easter activities and go with Aly Fronis and Sanja Rescek's This Little Bunny (2016) instead. (Board book. 2-4)
