“Tuesday Tucks Me In” is creative and artistic…gently sharing with the reader valuable information, not only about the benefit of service dogs for people living with visible and invisible disabilities, but also about acceptance and love -- the unconditional kind. <3  Luis has brilliantly blended education and whimsy through the narrative voice and beautiful images of his extraordinary best friend and service dog – “Tuesday.” “Tuesday Tucks Me In” is an exceptional balance of soft golden retriever warm fuzzy, tug at that spot in your heart that makes you say “AW” right out loud and practical, necessary, delicately delivered facts that carefully awaken awareness. I cannot end this review without commenting on the images of Luis and Tuesday, living their lives, and sharing their story.   Using photographs, rather than illustrations allows the reader…of any age, to connect with Luis and Tuesday, creating a reading experience that is honest and intimate.   Children will especially benefit, as the images of this soldier and his service dog make this book more than just a story… ”Tuesday Tucks Me In" is a real life story.   Angel and Boo~

"Tuesday Tucks Me In" has some of the most striking and impressive photos I have ever seen in a children's picture book. Chronicling a day in the life of Tuesday, Capt. Montalvan's service dog and best friend, by Tuesday as the narrator is inventive, creative, and most important effective. The picture of Capt. Montalvan and Tuesday praying at the end is my favorite part.

This is a very good book, beautifully written, and with lovelyl pictures of Luis and Tuesday. It is easy to read an understand which make it a great present to people of all ages. My daughter got this book as a present for her K graduation, and she loves it! After reading it, I see that she understands better what Tuesday does for Luis, and that there are other service dogs; as well as there are also other veterans and citizens who needs a service dog to help them with daily tasks and to feel better. I highly recommend it! -S. Roussel

I love this book! It's heartwarming and light but also informative. Tuesday is the sweetest companion but more than that, a necessary partner in Louis' daily life. The book is easy to understand and the pictures tell in more than a thousand words of the love between Tuesday and Louis. A must have - pick one up for you, your kids, grand-kids & your neighbors!  - K. Tucker

We originally bought Tuesday Tucks Me In for our three year old grandson, but I find myself enjoying going through the pages as much as he did. The beautifully displayed photos that depicted a working day in Tuesdays life brought smiles to both of us. How wonderful to have a book for children that brings up the subject of people with disabilities and wonderful canines thatvservice them. Teaching children even at a young age to have compassion and empathy towards people with disabilities is a wonderful concept for a book. Tuesday's caring and beautiful face only enhanced these feelings as you read along about how he helps Louis every day. I would recommend this book to anyone who is in the market for a great night time read. Along with real life lessons that are often difficult for parents to approach, Tuesday Tucks me in promotes awareness and acceptance of people with disabilities that we meet up with every day.

After writing his New York Times bestselling autobiography “Until Tuesday,” retired Captain Luis Montalván now writes for his newest and younger audience!  Enchantingly written for children, “Tuesday Tucks Me In” tells a delightful story with a very important message.  From the moment you open the book you are greeted nose-to-fuzzy-nose with beautiful and captivating Golden Retriever “Tuesday,” who narrates his story.  But Tuesday is not a pet. Tuesday is a Service Dog with very specialized training which enables him to perform important duties necessary to assist his human companion Luis.  And so begins the story of a typical day of very important work for Tuesday (and some playtime too!) as he and Luis spend their day together. What I love about this book is the layout of narration and vibrant illustrative photography, which captures and holds the attention of the young reader. The format allows for plenty of page-by-page discussions, questions, and educational responses.  “Tuesday Tucks Me In” teaches the young reader about the important role a service dog plays in the life of a person with observable or unseen disabilities.  Great job Captain Montalván (and Tuesday!) Well-written, educational, but mostly, so enjoyable for both young readers and adults!   Dr. Donna M. Struck

Great story! As a teacher, mother, and fan of excellent children's books, I can highly recommend this one. With vibrant photos and prose that evokes warm, fuzzy feelings with a touch of humor, and invites the reader to share in the daily life of this inspirational veteran and his service dog, it is sure to become any child's - or adult's - favorite story. My own children are grown, and I still find it a book that encourages repeated readings, at bedtime or any other time. I'm happy to add it to my collection! - Karen B

WOW!!!!   You can't help but smile, when on every page a gorgeously handsome golden retriever named Tuesday, with those beautiful brown eyes is looking at you. Right from the beginning, you are hooked. Set in the Big Apple, Luis and Tuesday share their personal day-to-day life, and clearly define Tuesday's exceptional skills as a service dog. Occasionally interrupted in lighthearted innocence, by what connects us, and what our furry friends do best. Make us laugh. Giving us the freedom to enjoy each moment as it is given to us. The book, written in perfect pace, will completely submerge a young reader into this loving and beautifully photographed story.  Teaching our children and young adults respect for our veterans and all those with disabilities the important role shown through the eyes of this very special service dog named Tuesday. Everyone will enjoy this book. It is a delightful treasure!!

What a great book, I absolutely LOVE this book. What an awesome way to tell a story that children can understand about disabilities and hope. It teaches about love and acceptance. The pictures are everyday down to earth and just plain adorable. My grandson loved it and I am looking forward to reading it many times to all of my grandbabies. It's also beautiful displayed on a shelf!.

Exactly what a children's book should be...full of beautiful color photo's, teaching moments and a great story line. See and read about a day in the life of a this service dog, Tuesday and experience service from his perspective. I believe it encourages interest in the subject as well as compassion for those who suffer from disabilities that are not visible. I have both this author's books and I'm honored to know them both through his gifted writing. Don't just purchase this book for yourself, but get several and donate them or read to your school children. I would give it more "stars" if I could.

Let me preface by writing that I have a Golden Retriever therapy dog and that we do a reading program with Special Ed students in our middle school. These students have already learned firsthand the joy a therapy dog gives and that dogs really are considered a loving part of a family and actually live inside a home. Most of these students are boys who consider themselves “macho” with outside country dogs. I chose this book for them to read last week. Why? Because a “macho” man can really have visible and invisible war wounds. And who came to his rescue? A dog! Not just any dog, but a service dog named Tuesday! Not only did these students eagerly read this book aloud, but they were amazed at the pictures of a man and a dog bonding to such a degree that they were/are inseparable! Tuesday, through pictures and words, describes the love and commitment between a man desperately needing to recover and re-claim his life – and doing it with a dog. Waking up with a Golden grin staring at him, brushing their teeth “together” (this brought a “yuck”), the comforting effect of Tuesday being closely held by Luis on a subway (had to tell these children what a subway is), the fun of an amusement park and seeing the life inside a man coming back to life all because of a dog. We sincerely and lovingly thank Tuesday for “writing” this book and wish Luis the full life he deserves, Carole W., NC

This is a wonderful book of friendship. It tells and shows how we can look and be different on the outside and yet the same where it matters, "our insides." It is a great book to snuggle a little one in next to you to read and share. I also believe and hope it will become an important tool for children; to educate them about service dogs, what they do and what they mean. It is an opportunity to open the discussion about people living with disabilities and how sometimes they are obvious physically and sometimes not. "Tuesday Tucks Me In" is a great addition to my collection of children's books! I enjoyed "Tuesday Tucks Me In" as well as the book that inspired it, "Until Tuesday." I recommend them both.

I have had the pleasure of photographing Captain Montalvan and Tuesday...while sitting and listening to him read the book to a group of little ones, I felt myself go back to sitting on the library floor as a young girl...I laughed in the silly places and felt the love that is shared between best friends! Luis and Tuesday hear compliments all day long and at every new book signing event; However, It is my hope that what they do and how they reach others does not become common to them or that they are unable to see and feel what it is that they are able to give...what they have is a gift and I know that after reading the book each person can feel the divine energy...! I am grateful to have met them and my life is better because of it...! Darcy M. Heyd, Photographer Brickhouse Productions

I read the book, Until Tuesday, in 3 days & was really moved by it. While stopping by my own local library, I saw the display there & decided to check it out. We had already planned on going to see Luis & Tuesday the next day when they visited another library. It was heartwarming to see both of them & to be able to watch them in person, interacting & showing the audience the close bond they have for each other. One of our friends with has had 2 guide dogs to help her, as she is blind. We knew one of them & he was also special. Our other friend has raised many goldens & loves them dearly. We all came away awed by the love you could plainly see between this animal & his owner. The book recounted the graphic details of the injuries Luis suffered, so it is very heartening to see his healing process coming true on the paws of this special dog. The training I read about was intense, but proves how much they want to serve, behave & become an extension of their own special human, who will protect them, as much as Tuesday will always protect Luis. Military service is so demanding & it breaks my heart to see so many coming back home in such a shattered state. Reading about Luis, his life & how he has mended is so wonderful. We bought the new children's book that night & will treasure it. My friend also bought it & it will be a Christmas gift for her grandson who has Down's Syndrome. Our friend bough Until Tuesday to give as a gift to the Boy Scout who is building a ramp for them, as his Eagle project.  I pray for both of these guys, as they travel to share their joy as being "best buds."  Anyone who doesn't realize how wonderful animals are, have really had one living in their life & home. They bring comfort that is indescribable.  I look forward to hearing how the future plays out for both of them & hope his dreams come true for a family & place out west where Tuesday will run, play & continue serving.   I rate these books both at 5.

This book in incredible, not only will children learn about a dog being a service dog, children can see that  this is everyday life for adults or children with a disability. This book can teach children that there are people  with disabilities. Luis also shows children how to take care of their loyal best friend. And the pictures in this book are beautiful, inspirational, and are photos of life everyday, for Luis or for anyone. This book is an  inspiration to children for learning. I myself as an adult with physical and mental disabilities, this book  is a joy for myself as well.  If you haven't gotten this book yet, please get a copy for you and for your children today.

This is a perfect example of an exceptional picture book. It chronicles the relationship of a disabled veteran, Luis and his service dog, Tuesday. Using fantastic, full color photos, the reader is drawn into their lives together. The story is informational and instructional, but also very personal so it never feels preachy at all. It makes an excellent read aloud for pre-schoolers on up. Children will get a clear understanding about helping and being helped and the unusual relationship this beautiful dog has with his owner. Lots of discussion potential. Highly recommended!

Light-hearted educational book that keeps the reader engaged! It has been said that if you talk to the children, the adults will also understand. "Tuesday Tucks Me In" is skillfully written and contains vivid photography that engages children and adults alike. It is a book that children will want read to them over and over again, and at some point in this short story book, adults often realize that they learned something they did not know about a service dog and a military veteran. The book is a great opportunity to teach children during their formative years about the important jobs these dogs have and that people with disabilities are more similar to than different from people without disabilities. I would recommend this book for all children through the primary grade years, especially children who struggle with acceptance, and adults who read with them!

This is a beautiful book full of gorgeous photography. I use it with my elementary students to help explain PTSD and the job of a service dog. It explains the difficulty Luis faces every day, as well as the bond he has with his dog, Tuesday. Everyone enjoys hearing about Tuesday's adventures at the amusement park, the bathroom, and the park, yet are very serious when we discuss "nightmares" and trauma. Wonderfully written and illustrated!

Everyone, young and old, can learn from Tuesday Tucks me In. Although the target audience is for children, I believe adults will also learn the value a service dog can provide to our brave and wounded Soldiers. This book needs to be read to and by all children so that they will understand the role a service dog plays in a persons life. Luis and Tuesday are a beautiful pair of souls and their story is nothing short of a love story. This book exemplifies the love Luis and Tuesday have for each other and it shows how important they both are in each others lives. The book was beautifully illustrated with adorable photos that mere words couldn't convey. Thank you Luis and Tuesday for sharing your experiences and your life with the whole world. You both make a difference everyday. God Bless you both!

I love this book, and my upper elementary school students do, too! "Tuesday Tucks Me In" is a very well-told tale that is an age-appropriate companion book for "Until Tuesday." It conveys important messages about service dogs, their importance to those they assist, and that not all wounds caused by war are visible. Written from Tuesday's point of view, this book informs and entertains at the same time. This book needs to be available to every child in all school libraries and public libraries!  R E A D T H I S B O O K ! ! !

My wife and I take two of our Golden Retrievers to local schools for their reading programs. One of the schools is near an Army base and has many Army dependent children. We donated a copy of this book to each of the three schools we visit and the feedback from the librarians has been gratifying! My wife read "Until Tuesday" and I listened to it on Audiobooks. This book really compliments the original story by retelling the story from Tuesday's viewpoint.

A wonderful story written from Tuesday's point of view of all that he does for his soldier. Perfect for children as a way to introduce them how man's best friend can help those with different abilities lead full lives. Photographs are a perfect compliment to the narrative. So glad that Tuesday and Captain Montalvan decided to tell share their story with children.

Tuesday is an adorable, intelligent service dog who helps Capt. Montalvan around the clock with daily activities.  This is a great book to educate young children about the role of a service dog. As an educator I would encourage teachers to purchase this book for their classroom library.  It provides a great lesson about people with disabilities and the respect we should have towards service dogs.  Not only did I find this book educational I also thought the photographs were beautiful and you can see the loving bond between them.  My young boys loved the photographs. Tuesday is precious.
