During my senior year at seminary, I was substitute preaching at a small rural church in southwest Ohio on the topic: “Turning the World Upside Down.” Thessalonians were saying that about those first Christians. A lady greeted me after the service with the question, and a hint of desperation in her voice: “Tell me, what can I do?” I had no answer back then.
This book would be my answer now. Sometime after seminary, it became my passion to recover the faith and experience of New Testament Christianity. Fifty years later, after encountering Christ, serving in pastoral ministry, studying Scripture, and journaling to remember lessons God was teaching me, this book is a summary of my understanding of New Testament Christianity.
It focused on Jesus (Incarnate Lord), His word (truth), and His kingdom (limitless resources). When the church returns to that focus for determining its faith and experience, it will produce disciples, servants, and witnesses that go beyond mere church membership in today’s Christianity. Then, it will learn to tap the limitless kingdom resources necessary to turn the world right side up, claim the earth for Christ, produce Christlike people, and lead the way to peace someday on earth.
