I was vaguely familiar with the term Ubuntu but this book gave me a better understanding and appreciation for the concept. Having worked in human services for 15 years I thought I had heard it all about team work but this book helped me to move to another level of understanding. I recommend that everyone read this book!

The classic cliche "There is no I in team" is the essence of UBUNTU. Great businesses, great sports teams, great organizations are all great because the individuals within the group understand the meaning of working for the greater good. Steve and Bob have captured this concept in their easy to read story featuring John Peterson, credit manager of a big box store who learns the lessons of UBUNTU and successfully applies them in his quest for improvement. I first heard the term UBUNTU several years back when Doc Rivers led the Boston Celtics to their most recent NBA title. Doc's approach was to ask the players to subordinate their egos to the greater good of winning the title. He used the term UBUNTU to embrace this concept. It worked and the great individual players on the Celtics became great team players thus creating and unbeatable team. The concept applies to all businesses, families and organizations alike. It is a big concept and big idea. It was a pleasure to read and we have included it in our own small biz success program curriculum at www.loops4biz.com. Enjoy the book.
