You may think you know the story of The Ugly Duckling, but think again. In the capable hands of his narrator Maynard Moose, storyteller Willy Claflin takes us on a wacky journey where family becomes fambly and extremely becomes distremely. (English teachers take heart; a Moose-English glossary is included.)

Willy Claflin's clever retelling of The Ugly Duckling story will make children laugh out loud. He writes in a comical dialect that makes for an outstanding read aloud book. Children will love the awkward misfit "duckling," who is actually a stray baby moose, as he tries desperately to conform. But he can't quack, or swim or fly like the fluffy yellow duckies who hatched around him as he napped by the water. Can the four-legged ugly baby figure out who he really is? Our library has two copies of this book and they are always checked out. This is definitely a "read it again!" book. It comes with a CD of the author reading the story.
