I love everything Colleen writes. I'd follow her blindly into a re telling of last years phone book with complete faith it would be heart wrenching and hilarious. So I may be a little tiny bit biased. But this book was AMAZING. I finished it in one sitting. I can't tell you the last time I finished a book in one sitting, because I honestly have no idea when that was. Oh wait, yes I do. It was Maybe Someday. Another brilliant CoHo book. And before that? All of her other books. And prior to that? Probably a Harry Potter book. So that explains the level with which I adore the genius that is her writing. Miles. He's a pilot. And he's heart breakingly beautiful and tortured. And he's a pilot. And he's broken. And did I mention he's a pilot? Yum!  So lucky I found it a bit early and got to enjoy the brilliance that is a CoHo book! Counting down the days until the next!

I tried to protect my heart from Colleen Hoover. I really did. I went into this story knowing that Hoover herself cried while writing this--something she's never done with her other stories. I'm tough, I said.  I won't breakdown, I affirmed while doing the downward dog yoga move in my imagination. Besides, if she didn't cry while writing Holder and Sky's story, UGLY LOVE can't be *that* sad.   Oh, boy. Was I wrong. So, so deliciously wrong. This story is told both in present and past tense through alternating point of views. A highly effective method of writing in this case because we get to see the loving, caring side of Miles that Tate suspects is underneath his shell of indifference.  But, why? What could have possibly happened to transform the young man that would qualify as the best boyfriend ever into a man that doesn't allow himself to feel darn near anything any more? Hang tight. You'll find out and I'm going to go as far as saying...your life as a reader will never be the same once you experience it.  Bold words, right? But listen.  This book and it's revelations are going into the history book as one of the greatest stories ever. EVER.  You will always remember it and it's watery cover. *sobs uncontrollably* I pre-ordered a signed copy of UGLY LOVE with explicit instructions to have Miles personally deliver it to my doorstep wearing nothing but aviator glasses. I'll let you know how that goes.  PS - Tissues are not optional while reading.  Your sleeves will be snot and tear stained should you not heed this warning.   You're welcome.

Best of all, great writing and a well edited story. Loved it! I immediately bought another book by Ms. Hoover, MAYBE SOMEDAY, and intend to read it right away! I highly recommend UGLY LOVE. S.A.K.

Wow. Wow. Wow. What a story. What an emotional rollercoaster. I don't know how Ms. Hoover does it, but she has a way of ripping your heart out and putting it back together in just simple sentences. I loved this Story. There were times I truly hated it. But those were the moments that she was making my heart melt. Somehow she put me back together at the end. The writing style of this book is very unique to Ms. Hoover but it works. It makes you feel that you are living their emotions. I love this story. I love anything she writes. This is one of her best ones. Wow.

~Reviewed by FRANCESCA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog I can hear your gasps from all the way over here.  As you may know, I’m a huge fan of Colleen Hoover.  I think her writing is superb and can really weave a magical tale.  I felt drawn in by UGLY LOVE at the beginning, and quite frankly I loved it.  I was intrigued by the drama and angst and wanted to uncover all the secrets. Tate, our heroine, was a very enjoyable narrator for this story.  She’s just a likeable girl, who loves her brother and happen to have a crush on a guy that’s emotionally unavailable.  But she’s open enough to still pursue it.  Try to break down those walls a little at a time.  After a while though, I wasn’t a fan of Miles treatment.  There’s only so much a girl should take before she puts her foot down and pushes the guy off to do some thinking and reflecting on his actions.  She should, at some point, show enough self respect to know she’s worth more and deserves better. After I hit the 25% mark, some annoyance started to kick in.  By half way through, I was getting pissed.  And by 80% in, I wanted to kick some teeth in.  See, I love a jerk hero as much as the next girl.  But if you’re going to make him a jerk he also needs to have this huge redeeming moment.  A lot of groveling is a must.  And I kept looking for that, but I don’t think it came.  This is where the book fell short for me. As much as Miles had the potential for being a swoon worthy hero, he didn’t quite get there for me.  Their chemistry was definitely there, the background story was unveiled beautifully, albeit in a way that is becoming customary for Hoover, and in the end we got a good an emotional closure.  But as far as that HEA?  I don’t think it got there satisfyingly enough for me.  All the issues came out and got resolved in the span of a quick conversation.  The resolution was too quick for an issue that seemed so ingrained in the character’s heart.  And that is why I felt his actions throughout the book where then unjustified. UGLY LOVE is emotionally charged and an angst ridden relationship that develops slowly, chipping away at the iceberg that has taken over Miles heart.  It still has all the markings of Colleen Hoover’s beautiful writing, and it was still a story that I enjoyed reading.  But it wasn’t my favorite by her by far. *ARC provided by publisher

I cannot put into words how much this book completely overtook me, completely stole my attention and reached into my soul. I read it from cover to cover in a single sitting in about 4 1/2 hours because there was not a chance that I was going to be able to walk away from this book. I was up until almost 2 am reading it and I had absolutely no idea that it was way past my bedtime. To give you some perspective, I can’t stay up past 11pm, it’s like I have a self sleep button, 11 pm comes around and I am out. Not this night, I was so completely entranced by this novel that I kept on reading completely unaware of time. Completely aware of the heart breaking, soul crushing story of Tate, Miles and Rachel. If you think you know what this book is about I can guarantee you that you don’t. “The difference between the ugly side of love and the beautiful side of love is that the beautiful side is much lighter. It makes you feel like you’re floating. It lifts you up. Carries you.” I felt such strong emotions for every single one of these characters and there was no one to hate. This book is not about that, this book isn’t about finding someone to blame for everything that is going wrong, this book had no one to blame except for a series of extremely unfortunate events and the unbearable pain that was left behind. It’s a story of absolute loss, a loss so great that the only thing leftover is a body. The soul lost within the blackened clouds of heartbreak and loss and can never have agains. A pain that can only be created from first having the feeling of absolute bliss and the most unconditional and truest of love. This is a story about losing that love and some how finding it again, some how being able to realize that the absolute and most unconditional of love is worth risking the chance of having to experience the ugliest of love too. Love is a double sided coin, one of completely magical happiness that makes you feel like the richest person in all the world without having to have a single cent to your name, the other side is the absolute gut wrenching pain that will completely hollow you out and leaving you as nothing more than a shell of human flesh. The pages within this book will give you a good does of both. Be prepared.

Although this book happened to amaze many readers, i did not feel quite the same. I mean, sure it was a pretty good book but it seemed so predictable. The plot isnt very original, it veers towards the "this love isnt good for us," kind of theme and it was like almost any other book i read. When i saw that it was a new york times bestseller, i was expecting a lot more. I felt a little dissappointed but in the end, i decided that it was still a good read.

This is not a friends with benefits story. Tate and Miles are NOT friends. I just want to clear that up.  Okay, I have read all of Colleen Hoover's books and loved them all. This is the first book where Colleen enters a more mature setting with adults and steam. I have to say that she did an amazing job with the letting us into the bedroom and the kitchen and the car. Yeah, and they were HOT. I loved that she finally ventured there.  The book shows us the past and the present and I have to say that I only really liked the past because I wanted to know what happened with Miles. Oh, who's Miles? Well, Miles is this sexy as heck pilot that does not want to ever love again.  “It’s not that I don’t like you… I just don’t want to like you. I don’t want to like anyone. I don’t want to date anyone. I don’t want to love anyone.”  But underneath all that, he's a generous, sweet man. So what made him that way? Well, we get that around 75%, but before that we have lots of time with another woman. I'm not sure how that made me feel. I get it, I get that he had a life before the present, but I'm not sure I liked seeing his younger self with another woman. I don't really think this is spoilerish but throughout the present parts, we know something happened to Miles because, really, who wouldn't want love unless something really bad happened to them.  I loved Miles, I never once got frustrated with him because I knew he wasn't just being a jerk, he was destroyed by something so profound. I saw underneath it all and so did Tate.  And see how his sweetness comes out. “If I were capable of loving someone . . . it would be you.”  Tate, our main girl, is quite amazing. She willingly puts sets herself up for a world of hurt, but she does it anyway because she loves him.  “He leads. I let him. Because he’s a solid and I’m a liquid and right now, I’m just his wake.”  She wanted his present, his past, and his future, but she couldn't. It wasn't part of the deal.  Two rules: “Don’t ask about my past,” he says firmly. “And never expect a future.”  There are a few wonderful side characters ... Cap, the elevator button pushing guy, is the sweetest old man ever was my favorite! And he's full of advice.  “Love isn’t always pretty… Sometimes you spend all your time hoping it’ll eventually be something different. Something better. Then, before you know it, you’re back to square one, and you lost your heart somewhere along the way.”  Do I think this is Colleen's best book ever? No. I truly believe Hopeless and Maybe Someday are her best books.  Did I love this book? Yes. Absolutely! I also thought the book was extremely clever. She is a genius with originality and I envy her for it. She's ground breaking and sets the bar high for other authors.  She wrote this book like the most beautiful, heart-wrenching poem. There were many analogies that fit so perfectly and came together. I just think she's so very talented.  “I didn’t fall in love with you, Tate. I flew.”  If you like creative, lyrical, poetic romance stories with some heartbreak then this story is for you!

This book deserves more than a 5 star rating it deserves 1 million stars ERMAHGERD THE BEST COLLEEN HOOVER BOOK YET!!!!!! OMG Miles *swoon #Milesislikeermahgerd my ¿¿ Belongs to Miles Mikel Archer!!!! Sorry Will, Dean, Daniel, Ridge, & Warren. Well done Colleen!!!!!! WeBliCh4life!!!!!!!! When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all. Hearts get infiltrated. Promises get broken. Rules get shattered. Love gets ugly.
