After struggling with life for several years, she met a nice kind young man. And although she loved him, she did not want to marry him, so he walked out on her. This reinforces her opinion that all men are scum bags and were not to be trusted. Finally, she befriended a young woman who she trusted; but alas, she also betrayed their friendship. At her wits end after her betrayal, she tried to end her life.
