About the Author

Silvia Geiger grew up in Switzerland where she had her first experience as a child with the family dog, Alex a German shepherd. With her second dog, a Leonberger named Bimbo she joined a Dog Training Club where she after 2 years was awarded with an advanced degree in obedience.

After moving to the US, with her Leonberger, she attended a very comprehensive Dog Training School in Denver CO. The goal was to be become a certified dog trainer. The classes included obedience, tracking, breed recognition and dog boarding. Here the idea of Free Roam Boarding was born.

Her first attempt in boarding dogs, Free Roam Style, was out of her own home in Elisabeth, CO. At that time in Free Roam Boarding was not a common style of boarding. Actually it pretty much did not exist. But the success was overwhelming.

Recognizing that this could be the Boarding Style of the future she opened her first facility in Santa Fe, NM 1996 against a lot of skepticism. But the clients loved it. That was enough for her to finally design the facility she is still operating to this day.
In addition of boarding dogs she enjoys helping her clients with all kinds of dog behavior issues.

Active in the rescue community she opens her doors to dogs, which need temporary housing until a permanent home can be found.

Personally she and her partner Michael, an artist, own 6 rescue dogs. Sasha, a Great Pyrenees, Cody a Pyrenees English Setter Mix, Nikolas a Rottweiler Mix, Penny a Maltipoo, and Colter and Paolito, two "NM Brown Dogs"
