A must read for lawyers and investors everywhere.   This book is an unbelievable story of a respected lawyer’s self-indulgence and his lust for power that brought down almost everyone that knew him.      Malkus has written a story that is both disturbing and scary. Once you start reading this book you won’t be able to put it down!

This is a important book about personal choices and ethics. It is well written and the author captures all of the details in this very interesting Ultimate Ponzi story. I’ve learned how it is possible to gain the trust of so many people to accomplish such an outlandish Ponzi scheme. This attorney Scott Rothstein was such a unique individual, who no one called out for his strange and behavior. There should’ve been plenty of skepticism the way Rothstein is spending other people’s money. But his banks overlooked major red flags, smart investors turned a blind eye and greed overcame common sense by everyone at his law firm with 150 employees. Somehow Scott Rothstein was able to run both the law firm and his Ponzi scheme while womanizing with six girlfriends in addition to his trophy wife. This story is not only about greed as it captures the rock star lifestyle of Scott Rothstein, including his escort agency and the women provided for investors; his involvement with the mob and his influence with national politicians. He was someone who in the end impacted hundreds of lives out of a desperate need to satisfy his huge ego.

There are huge differences between Bernard Madofff and Scott Rothstein, an overzealous attorney. First, it is amazing how this attorney Scott Rothstein comes out of nowhere to become a major power broker in national politics and then outsmarts big hedge funds in New York and Texas. We learn how Scott Rothstein was able to build a 150 employee law firm as a guise of 1.4 billion dollar Ponzi scheme. Worse, this guy Rothstein abuses charitable organizations to achieve status as an overnight philanthropist. Along the way to his destructive path, he is seen everywhere with his law firm sponsoring the Miami Heat, the Miami Dolphins and Florida Panthers, among many others. Not to mention representing the Miami Companions escort service, described by the Feds as the largest escort agency on the Eastern seaboard. Rothstein represents the escort agency as an attorney and then becomes one of their largest clients, spending $60,000 a month for women to entertain investors. In addition to his trophy wife, he has a half dozen girlfriends on the side. Tragedy strikes when there are three deaths in his law firm. Among the indicted, and soon to serve time, are his wife Kim Rothstein, former bartender and one time exotic dancer. Sorry Bernie Madoff, this guy Rothstein out does your greed and impacts more lives when his Ultimate Ponzi comes crashing down. And when you add two Mafia organizations, Scott Rothstein has just about done it all, and is more outlandish.

Informative book on a very interesting character by the name Scott Rothstein. The fact that this lawyer pulled off a Ponzi scheme when he was unknown to anyone was quite a feat. His rise to fame and power should be a lesson to everyone about what to look for when things don't add up. Good perspectives were shared by those who smelled a rat while others turned their heads.

The Ultimate Ponzi: The Scott Rothstein Story shows how greed and excess results in the destruction of hundreds of lives. It is amazing how an unknown attorney is able to build a supposedly successful law firm and then outsmarts major hedge funds. Not to mention roping in well known elected officials from Califronia to New York. When you add all of Scott Rothstein's sexcapades; girlfriends; Buggatis and then the three deaths of employees from the law firm, this is a must read. A lot to be learned from this story and how to prevent it from happening in your backyard.

If you could be a glutton for a day (here 4 years approx) how would you do it? Mr. Malkus give the first hand account of the glutton of Fort Lauderdale, Scott Rothstien. More money, women, cars, houses, toys and powerful political friends than many of us would not see in 10 lifetimes. Dont forget the cherry on top, you get to be a charity glutton too, buy all the items at charity auctions, you are given awards all over town for your chairty work, and have a Temple named after you. All the time you are doing it by ripping off some of the smartest and wealthiest people in town. Then poof, 5 years later you are in prioson for 50 years. Worth the risk? Read the book and decide for yourself.
