Ultra-Organized Cell Systems

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Amber Hurt
Part of the "Micro Quests" series which examines different types of cells and their components, this book focuses on cell organization. It is divided into six chapters and includes a table of contents, glossary, suggested reading, and an index. The illustrations are cartoonlike and lend humor to the text. Photographs included range from organs to individual cells, and the diagrams are clear and easy to understand. Words included in the glossary are also well defined contextually. The further reading includes both books and websites. Johnson begins with a basic introduction to cells. After this foundation, the next chapter examines the internal organization and different types of cells. Subsequent chapters delve deeper into descriptions of tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms. A good supplement to lessons about cells and body systems, Johnson's book addresses the science in a meaningful way without oversimplifying. Reviewer: Amber Hurt
