A novel that has "substance" combined with the expected sexy.

Great reluctant, wounded hero.  Interesting, independent female.  I liked that she took chances and especially that she did not give in when she knew what she wanted.  Very romantic and an enjoyable read.

I liked the idea of the story but I got exasperated by the characters. Overall it wasn't worth the money I spent.

Poor Miss Chloe Hardwick. She never really had a choice in life, and now she's a Spinster with a capital S. The Marquess she works for doesn't give a damn about her, unless she can come up with ways to better display his knife collection. The the Marquess's sister gets a glimpse of Miss Hardwick's feelings. Sister hires Miss Hardwick to be a Ladies' Personal Secretary, which is a Much Better Job. Pays twice as well and now Chloe has a name and real dresses to wear. Forget going back to that ungrateful former boss... Until Former Boss falls in love with New Chloe. Now what is a girl to do? Read this unconventional, well-written and well-plotted book and find out!

This regency romance is very well done. I like both characters. I could identify with Lord Marland because I'm like that although not a soldier. I liked Hardwick for her organizational skills but I think it could be exasperating to live with someone like her. What made her easy to be with is the major projects in which she was engaged. Although there are scenes of intimacy they are not pages of graphic detail. I think there is enough build up that the conclusion is logical. I would read more from this author and this book again.

The cover looks kind of gross
