Book ending that was handled PERFECT First off I want to say the the cover art and blurb on this book are amazing. Now that being said...This book intrigued me in many ways and in others it did not hold my interest. Let me explain. The menage relationship was presented well on how each felt for each other and the loving making scenes were well written. I understand the reason Luigi and Rocco allowed Jemma to treat them the way she did but the book flew by too fast for me to get a feel for the character development that would of caused this to get a solid 4 or 5 stars from me. There was so much going on so quickly that I couldn't get enough sense of a cohesive storyline and solid characters except Luigi. I will say I remember Luigi the most and his character felt more exciting to me than the other two and quite honestly I think it was because of one of the love scenes where he was just hot, hot. What worked for me also was the book ending that was handled PERFECT. I have actually gotten more of the authors books because I sew costumes for entertainment and I occasionally work in NYC and yes it is crazy in the world of entertainment and fashion so yes what he writes is believable and that crazy with dramatic personalities. I have experienced it and it still makes me laugh because all of us are Drama Queens if we are willing to admit it and this author is great at putting it up front and center in a most entertaining way. I am giving it 3.5-4 stars because of how professionally this book was packaged and quite honestly that hot love scene still sticks in my head.

*ARC received from NetGalley in return for an honest review* Fashion designer Jemma survived breast cancer but now she needs to learn how to live and love again. Her collection is a disaster. She hurt her two lovers Luigi and Rocco when she turned down their marriage proposal, but they are determined to bring back the joy back in their relationship by taking Jemma on a "sexual safari". This book is a sexy, fun, and touching quick read.

Great characters with great humor and feelings for one another. This is my first story of the Manhattanites and I liked that their relationships and secondary characters were introduced at the beginning so you understand how they are all tied together. I think I might have enjoyed the story more if I would have read the previous stories. Jemma , Rocco and Luigi relationship is struggling due to Jemma's fear of possibly getting breast cancer again. She also is having problems with her fashion designs due to her lack of passion and enthusiasm. When her latest design show and her latest fashion collection tanks, her partners whisk her away on a sexual safari to help her get her passion and their relationship back on track. This is where I felt the story fell apart. It lacked substance and seemed to be over before it really got started. It was lighthearted, but with not much heat and with a poly relationship I was expecting more. Received a complimentary copy through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

I liked the story and the sex is steamy! This is the 4th book in the Manhattanites series and this is about the poly relationship of Rocco, Jemma and Luigi. I admit if you haven’t read the other books you may not understand the characters as well as you could. Jemma may be cancer free but she isn’t her old self. Can Luigi and Rocco help her find a way back to the woman she was and now with the surprise of a baby, move forward together? Be advised this book does include hot sex scenes with M/F, M/M and M/M/F.

I just adore Avery Aster's stories. They are so different from most stories you read. She adds a lot of sass, humor and hot sex! This story also included a LOT of emotions. There were some parts of this book that I couldn't help but get teary eyed for Jemma. Since Jemma had breast cancer she feels different about her life. While she loves her two boyfriends, Luigi and Rocco, she is afraid to to really commit like they want because what if her cancer comes back. Luigi and Rocco don't care....they love Jemma and will do whatever they have to to make her realize how much they love her. Jemma's latest fashion collection that she released just also tanked. She is in a really dark place and her lover's and her Manhattanite friends all want to help her get her mojo back. I really enjoyed the way Luigi and Rocco helped Jemma revive herself. It was fun, playful and sexy. The ending was great! I can't wait to read more about their future! Overall, another great story from Avery Aster!

Unconventional 3.5 stars Luigi and Rocco, two men in love with Jemma, have stood strong with her through every phase of breast cancer treatment. And now, as a survivor for the past two years, both men finally want to ask her to marry them. Luigi and Rocco think it’s time to reach for the next level in their relationship, starting a family. But Jemma has her reasons to reject their proposal, one being she doesn’t believe in happily ever after. Thanks to her parent’s bad marriage, she’s simply terrified of commitment. But “ the Big C” is another reason. She can’t have children after fighting that battle and believes the men deserve better. The journey has left Jemma exhausted, destroyed her sense of self to a point where her career and passion have taken a nosedive. Her dedicated lovers, along with close friends, rally a campaign to abduct her and jet-set her to the most sexually decadent places in Berlin, Moscow, Beirut, Ibiza; coining the media coverage as “sexual safari”. I just love that phrase. But taking the trip becomes a circus, it’s literally monkey-crazy as paparazzi cover their holiday in disguise of Jemma getting her inspiration back. For Luigi and Rocco, the vacation is more importantly a realigning of the intimacy and passion they all had in their relationship before Jemma’s diagnosis. It’s six weeks of delicious debauchery for what these three can think up. Wow, my head was spinning with all the hot sex and sensual excesses. In the end Jemma realizes that what is important in her life is Luigi, Rocco and her faith in love. The ending was quite a surprise, and a bit abrupt. But hey, maybe we’ll get to see them again in the upcoming books in the series. I was drawn to Unconventional by the beautiful book cover and blurb, but it was not what I expected as it was my first book to read in this series. I felt lost at times as I didn’t know some of the characters in this series, even though they are identified at the beginning of the story. I’d classify this as a novella, very fast paced, with lots of diva drama, and to get a full appreciation of this series, one may want to start from the first book. A copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My rating: 3.5

UNCONVENTIONAL is the fourth installment and novella in Avery Aster’s contemporary, adult THE MANHATTANITES erotic, romance series focusing on a group of rich and powerful friends from Manhattan and Europe. This is Jemma, Luigi, and Rocco’s storyline-an ‘unconventional’ polyamorous/polygamous relationship. All three characters were introduced in the previous story lines, and have had secondary and supporting roles throughout. I strongly recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory. NOTE: UNCONVENTIONAL contains M/M , M/F/M and M/M/F graphic sexual situations. Told from three first person points of view (Jemma, Luigi and Rocco) as well as ‘asides’ from some of the series’ other characters, UNCONVENTIONAL focuses on the re-building of the relationship between Jemma, Luigi and Rocco. Thirty seven year old Jemma is a former model, and current fashion designer for Prince Massimo Tittoni‘s Girasoli Garments, and Jemma Couture. Jemma’s latest line flopped on the runways of Europe, and with it her career has taken an abrupt turn in the other direction. Two years after Jemma’s battle with breast cancer, our heroine continues to find herself unsure of her future, and has lost her creative and sexual mojo. When Luigi and Rocco give Jemma one final chance at a future together, our heroine is surprised to realize that looking forward and living for the present is better than living in the past wondering about the what-ifs and whys. The relationship between our threesome is highly sexualized but in the interim, following Jemma’s battle with cancer, Jemma has lost some of her confidence, and sexual identity along with the loss of her breasts. Jemma is afraid to commit to an uncertain future, but with it comes the potential loss of the two men that she loves. An unexpected pregnancy finds Jemma making her relationship with Luigi and Rocco something more permanent. The $ex scenes are graphic and erotic. Because all three characters have been previously introduced throughout the series, the character building is limited, and there is some ‘missing information’ that is important for the reader to understand each character’s mindset and how they came into the relationship. Avery Aster includes a character breakdown at the beginning of the novella to introduce and reacquaint the reader with all his characters but it does not explain how the trio came to be, therefore I recommend reading the series in order. The author reveals some of the relationship dynamics, and how the potential loss of Jemma finds Luigi and Rocco struggling to help the woman they love. But saying that, the conflict resolution, the revelation of the pregnancy, and the promise of a future together is wrapped up too quickly, too neatly. The ending is rather abrupt and thusly the novella reads more like an unfinished manuscript with more to come; Jemma’s change in attitude is nothing short of a miracle-I was hoping for more to this particular aspect of the story. UNCONVENTIONAL is an intimate look at three people; the life they have chosen; and the ‘unconventional’ love of one woman with two men.

Favorite Quotes: “Genius. A sexual safari. I love this idea.” “Peddle that sex bike, Miss Thing. Peddle fast. Peddle hard. Peddle as if there's no tomorrow.” “Rocco, never deny your partner in bed. Making love is like giving medicine. If they go without, they'll get sick in the head.” My Review: Being a bit doubtful about the truple/poly-amorous aspect of the story - as I don't share and would assume I would be a jealous old cougar - I was surprised by the emotional depth and poignancy of Avery Aster's latest offering. Although, when I stop to think about his other books, I really should not have been, as those deep painful layers were also there in every one of the books. And yes, the truple did partake in naughtiness and menages, jetted around to sample sex clubs around the world, and had volcanically hot sex all across Europe... but gasp - the primary focus of the story was not actually about sex. Gasp again for dramatic emphasis! The premise of the story was about a spoiled and selfish yet beautiful cancer survivor rediscovering her personal and vocational mojo and feeling beautiful and lovable again. Jemma's career was in a sharp nosedive after her recovery when she made a huge misstep with a fashion design collection of “Death Star Galactica,” ew – I just love Avery's humor! And while I remain dubious about truples and menages, the sensual scenes were highly erotic and rather breathtaking – took mine anyway. Unconventional was a quick and entertaining indulgence that paired well with a nice glass of wine.

Jemma survives her battle with cancer and find loves with two men. Her relationship with Luigi and Rocco is an unconventional one but it works for them. She struggles with life after her cancer not thinking she's the same sexy woman she used to be. When her career starts to go south her men gather her up and take her on a trip that sets her creative juices flowing and strengthens their poly relationship more. These men show her that she is sexy and deserving of their love. Luigi and Rocco are strong dominate men and only want the best for Jemma and will do anything for her. Jemma doesn't like change and struggles when Luigi and Rocco want to more their relationship forward and talk of marriage. Jemma knows she'll lose them if she doesn't take the next step. This book was a great read once I started it I didn't stop until the final page was turned. For me this was about a strong woman who survived the battle of a lifetime with cancer and found her love for her men stronger than before. However cancer had put the fear within her so any changes were hard for her to handle well. If you haven't read any book in this series I highly recommend that you do. I love this book great characters, hot sex amazing story you really couldn't ask for more.

Yummy! Avery Aster does it again and always keeps me guessing. I loved getting to dive into Jemma, Luigi and Rocco’s love story. We know that they have been together but their world was shaken when Jemma was diagnosed with breast cancer which also shifted Jemma, she has still not emotionally recovered from the diagnosis and treatment. Her men, Luigi and Rocco, have never wavered in their love for her so drastic measures are needed to help her realize what she has to allow her to move forward. Another sexy, erotic romp with the Manhattanites!
