About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Caroline Fyffe was born in Waco, Texas, but her father’s career in the US Air Force took her all over. After earning a bachelor of arts in communications from California State University, Chico, she embarked on a twenty-year career as an equine photographer. It was during long days at the show arena that she began to write fiction. Calling on her love of horses and the Wild West, she created the award-winning Prairie Hearts series. The first book in the series, Where the Wind Blows, won the prestigious Golden Heart Award from the Romance Writers of America. She and her husband have two grown sons, and they currently live in the Pacific Northwest.

Although, Under a Falling Star is the fourth book in the Prairie Hearts Series, it can certainly be enjoyed as a stand-alone title. That being said, I encourage you to read the previous three stories. It was Where the Wind Blows (Prairie Hearts - Book 1) that made me a Caroline Fyffe fan. Since 2012, I have read 14 of her historical fiction titles and haven’t been disappointed. It was wonderful to once again visit with favorite characters from the previous three books; Chase Logan, Thom Donovan, Ivan, Charlie and Maddie Axelrose, Frank Lloyd and Mrs. Hollyhock. I really felt for Susanna and Albert’s plight. As readers, it is easy to sit back and think, “Tell the secret”. Then we remember that not all people are open-minded and forgiving. It is also really difficult to know the appropriate time to share certain information. Relationships aren’t always easy. That is when the empathy returns. I am just glad that regardless of their past hurts that they were willing to give each other a chance. It really is amazing that Albert didn't end up distrusting all women after what his wife pulled and that Susanna didn’t grow into a man-hating shrew after the baggage that her mother saddled her with. Thankfully, Win and Hannah were willing to tell them what they needed to hear even when they weren’t willing to listen. I was so happy that Hannah explained to Susanna that her mother had wronged her by robbing her of her innocence and her dreams. Apart from the love triangle, I enjoyed Laine for putting horrible Beth in her place! She has taken advantage of Mrs. Hollyhock for far too long. The only thing that bothered me in this story was that I didn’t know who to root for because both Dalton and Albert were lovely. I loved that Caroline did that, because in life, there isn’t always a bad guy. Sometimes, the choice is between two really lovely people. If you are looking at the product description and still wondering if you should take a chance on this book, you should know that the fifty chapters are filled to the brim. Give Under a Falling Star a try. You won’t be disappointed. I certainly wasn’t! Caroline, thank you so much for a wonderfully written tale. Best Line: "You can bloody well tell her the reasons you left your man-loving, unfaithful lying wife behind." 2nd Best Line: “What in tarnation is goin’ on down here? You boys quit yer fightin’ this instant or I may have to give ya both a lickin’ with a willow switch. I ain’t too old ta do it, neither!” I am looking forward to the audio-book version and will get it as soon as it is available on audible.com because the only thing better than reading Caroline Fyffe’s books are enjoying them in the audio format. “I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review”

A clean, heart-warming historical romance set in the small town of Logan Meadows "Susanna, I'm not exactly sure how to begin. Where to start. I know I was in the wrong by not telling you sooner, but I was in an incredibly tight spot." She crooked her brow. "I'm still in an incredibly tight spot?" She nodded. UNDER A FALLING STAR by Caroline Fyffe is a clean, heart-warming historical romance set in the small town of Logan Meadows. I've thoroughly enjoyed all the previous books I've read by Caroline. I did enjoy this read, but struggled through some of it. Unfortunately, it's not one of my favorites. There's a love triangle and neither the hero nor the heroine rocked my boat - perhaps because I preferred the other character in the love triangle and wasn't happy with the heroine for not giving him a shot. The hero wasn't a bad guy... he just had some issues that didn't sit well with me. Just know that you might read this story and feel completely different about the characters. This was the story of Sheriff Albert Preston and Susanna Robinson with Dalton Babcock on the sidelines. The sheriff has been enamored of Susanna for a long while, but he has a dark secret in his past that has prohibited him from asking for her hand. Now, with a suspicious train wreck near Logan Meadows, a slew of train wreck victims, a large amount of money ensconced in the town's bank, a righteously very mad Susanna and another man competing for her attention, Albert has his hands full. Supporting characters include Nate, Albert's son. He's a darling boy who is excited about the prospect of creepy crawlies in their outhouse: "Where's the toilet room?"... "Outhouse 'round back." When the boy's eyes lit up, Albert laughed again. "You like that?" "Sure. Lots of lizards." Is it too much to hope that Dalton Babcock will return to Logan Meadows in the future and be awarded with his own HEA? As with all of Caroline's books, UNDER A FALLING STAR is very well-written. AND it's always a treat to catch up with favorite characters from previous books. There's quite a bit of suspense in this read that keeps the two male leads on their toes - and at each other's throats - through-out. Readers can look forward to a sweet happy-ever-after ending and having everything resolved with a tidy bow in the epilogue. I would recommend UNDER A FALLING STAR to fans of historical western romances. My full review is published at Reading Between The Wines Book Club. Please check it out there! 3 Wine Glasses!

This is part of the Prairie Hearts series but can be read as a standalone. I have not read the others in this series and did not feel lost at all. I found this to be a wonderful sweet read full of adventure, love, betrayal, renewing, outlaws, train wreck, a love triangle, and $1 million. All the things you need in a fun, exciting clean read filled with hope, desire and passion. Ms. Fyffe gives you a compelling story that pulls you in and takes you away to another place and time where she gives you a thrill of a train wreck and those who might be after the money. She keeps you guess as to who and why along with who one little lady will pick. She gives you interesting characters that feel like family as she takes you on an adventure not only of new love but of people with a past who have things to hide. Secrets kept until it is to late and the fall out that comes with it. You have two men after one women's heart, one from the past, one from the here and now both hoping to be her future. Susanna has outrun you past but it is about to catch up with her. A few years ago she started over in a new town that she loves. With a hurtful past she isn't letting any man close even the sheriff who she loves she is keeping at arms link. Growing up the way she did has given her a fear of love and the men who use the word. None can be trusted or can they she hopes to find true love but isn't holding out for it. When her past comes to haunt from a man from her past she finds herself in a love triangle. One man has hidden things from her for years, the other was always kind even in trying times. Will she pick one or tell the both to go find greener pastures? Albert is keeping the town safe, wears his badge proud and is so in love with Susanna he is having a hard time keeping it as friends. He has a past full of heartbreak, love and betrayal. He knows before he can move forward he must come clean but every time he tries to Susanna will not let him finish. Before he can tell her what he is hiding his past comes back to haunt him leaving him short one love and a few surprises. With one train wreck he finds the whole town in danger along with the danger of losing the one woman he could ever love. Ms. Fyffe gives you a wonderful believable story with wonderful characters along with an outstanding plot that keeps you guessing almost until the end. I thought I knew what was coming I saw the writing on the wall only to find out she twisted it full of surprises that kept me turning the pages. There isn't a character that I didn't like each have wonderful qualities and very likable. This was a story I had trouble putting down as these characters weave a place in your heart you are not sure who to cheer for. Knowing only one man can winner her heart as your heart breaks for the loser. Both men are very likable, caring men who built their life on honor. It does seem they might not be as honest as they would like us to believe. Come take a journey back in time to 1833 where there are outlaws, trains and love. Ms. Fyffe is one of my go to authors I know she will always have a wonderful sweet read for me filled with exciting tales of love, the past, as she spins a compelling story of broken hearts looking for the perfect match.

GETTING BACK ON TRACK AFTER BEING DERAILED This story kept me captivated with its mystery, romantic suspense, secrets, deceit, lies, and unanswered questions. From a train wreck to multiple injuries, fatalities, a million dollar bank transport, surprise meetings, former acquaintances, and two men wanting the same woman, you know you will have a beautiful story. Sheriff Albert Preston and Susanna Robinson have been friends for two-year, even the townsfolk considered them a couple, but the relationship has been more as good friends that courting couple. Both Albert and Susanna have dark secrets that they have never revealed, and that has prevented them from moving forward. What will happen when they come to light? More than death and injuries come from the train wreck that has turned the town of Logan Meadows upside down. The plot keeps the pages turning with an excellent cast of characters, entertaining dialog and heartwarming scenes. The story can read well as a standalone even though this is part of a series. Disclosure: I received an e-copy from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own.

Where to begin with this one?? There were many things I liked about it but the actual story wasn't my favorite but that's just me and I want to be fair to the author who's other books I love. So my thoughts are: The good - obviously well written and researched (would expect nothing less from this author), intriguing characters, descriptive writing style that makes that time in history come to life. The not so good for me - I'm not a fan of stories with love triangles so the basic story just wasn't for me. Another thing I'm not a fan of is secrets and there are plenty in this story. As we all know though, sooner or later the truth comes out as it does in this story. So with those points in mind, if they don't bother you this book will probably be a good read for you.

I love this newest installment of the Prairie Hearts series!! Caroline just has a way of bringing you right into the story and captivating you. Throw in two men vying for the same heart and the dangers brought to the town, it is a truly spellbinding story. Heartfelt emotions with all the twists and turns make for another fantastic read!! Albert is the sheriff of Logan Meadow's. And has been sweet on Susanna for years. Everyone knows they are a couple but he has a secret that is keeping him from really pursuing her fully. And when a railroad tragedy happens outside the town all of those secrets come crashing down threatening his relationship with her. Susanna has always believed what her mother said about men. They are all liars and will leave as soon as they get what they want. But she doesn't want to believe that about Albert. He is an honest man and she has feelings for him. But she is afraid. But when his secrets are made known and another from her past is brought to town, she doesn't know what to think. Can she overcome her fears and believe what Albert says or will she trust in her fears and believe her mothers words? Can't wait for more Logan Meadow's and the families I have grown to love!!
