CHAPTER 1

She's probably knee-deep in sugar and sprinkles by now.

As the Monday morning sun rose, Kaden Chance ran through the empty Main Street of Germantown, Maryland. A sheen of sweat covered most of his skin by the time he reached her bakery, aptly named Yummy. Cinnamon and vanilla wafted from the exterior vents, and his stomach growled. Inside, his human friend Annabelle hurried to prepare the pastries for the morning rush. Patrons would line up around the block within the next hour. While it had nothing to do with him, he was proud of her success.

He stood in front of the large store window and waited for her to notice him. She worked diligently, bent over the flour-covered counter, pouring batter into rows of miniature cupcake pans. Beneath a pink apron, she wore a tiny white tank top and steel-blue cotton shorts. From this angle, he admired the curve of her luscious bottom and muscular tanned legs. So many times he imagined taking her into his arms and kissing her pouty lips.

His blood warmed, his body working against him, urging him to break the rules he created. Rules that kept his family safe.

No, he had to bury those thoughts. Annabelle could never be his, no matter how badly he desired her. A knock on the glass pulled him from his thoughts. Annabelle waved at him with her oven-mitted hand; her smile was wide and cheerful. Noticing a smudge of purple icing on one of her cheeks, he held back a chuckle. She became embarrassed easily, so he ignored it.

A sweaty piece of hair fell into his face, and he quickly tucked it back into place. She watched him curiously with a doe-eyed look that confused him. But that wasn't surprising. After two years in his human form, he still struggled to understand his own human emotions.

Her green-eyed gaze moved down to her apron, then back at him. He tapped on his watch, and she playfully rolled her eyes. She was always running late, but by some unknown magic managed to open the bakery on time every day.

When she resumed her preparations, he let out a breath and returned to his morning routine.

Annabelle bit her bottom lip, her stomach filled with anxiety. Somehow she had sensed Kaden standing outside her window, watching her. She liked to pretend it was their connection, but really, it was because he always came by to greet her during his morning workout. There was nothing between them other than friendship. That wasn't her choice. She had been sending him smoke signals for almost a year, but he never showed any interest. Half of her hoped he might change his mind. The other rational half was screaming for her to snap out of it.

What did the book say again? Right! Look happy to see him, but don't appear too eager. Okay, okay, it's no big deal. Just look up and wave.

Her eyebrows furrowed.

His baby blues had stared in her direction, but his mind appeared to be somewhere else. If only he was thinking of her. She'd knocked on the glass. He startled and then smirked.

Don't get nervous, just play it cool! A wide grin stretched across her face as she waved at him with her oven-mitted hand.

A few strands of black hair had fallen over his eyes. He quickly tucked them back into place while inadvertently displaying one of his perfectly cut biceps. Her heart pounded in her chest like a drum. The man owned so many of those tight sleeveless muscle shirts. He must have stock in Under Armour. Today's color was hunter green.

Moisture dotted her palms. She glanced down to wipe them on her apron and cringed — stained with flour, naturally. Here she had an Adonis in front of her and she had her brown hair ponytailed and zero makeup on. No wonder he'd never shown any interest. She should've woken up earlier and made an effort. It's not like she didn't know he was coming.

But what she saw in him was much deeper than his good looks. He was beyond generous, taking time out of his schedule to help her around the bakery, and on several occasions, even making her dinner when she was too exhausted to cook. It seemed like whenever she needed someone, he was there. And when he wasn't helping her in some way, he was making her laugh with the silly texts he sent her or stories he would tell her about his brothers. Many times, they would talk for hours. They were so close, she considered him one of her best friends.

He had tapped on his watch, and she'd rolled her eyes. He enjoyed pointing out when she was behind schedule. She made her way toward the back counter where she'd left her cell phone — one hour before opening. When she returned to the front of the store, Kaden was gone. Her stomach sank in disappointment.

If Hilary could see her now, she'd probably offer to smack her on the back of her head. For the last two months, her friend had been pushing her to let go of her Kaden fantasy and get out into the dating world. She'd even offered up some accountant at her firm who she swore was really cute and fun. Maybe it was finally time to take her up on the offer.

The phone rang, and she picked up the kitchen cordless. "Thank you for calling Yummy Bakery. How can I help you?"

No response, only heavy breathing.

"Hello?" she repeated, aggravation in her tone.

The breathing got louder.

It was the third prank call in a week. Seriously, the teenagers around this small town must be bored to tears if they've resorted to these antics. "Really? Am I supposed to be frightened by your breathing? Get a life, kid."

Rolling her eyes, she hung the phone back on the receiver.

The oven timer buzzed, letting her know the fruit-mince cupcakes were ready to come out. Her eyes widened. The buttercream frosting wasn't prepared. She pulled the cupcakes from the oven and placed them on the cooling rack. She quickly grabbed the milk carton she had left by the sink and the butter by the cutting board. Perfect, both had reached room temperature. She found the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and vegetable shortening in the top cabinet above her head. With all the different measurements for the recipe locked in her mind, she began to pour the ingredients into a large bowl and stirred.

Once the icing was thick enough, she transferred the mix into a pastry bag and attached a decorating tip. She squeezed the bag, circling the buttercream frosting on top of each cupcake, all the while trying to think about anything other than Kaden Chance.

Winded, Kaden strolled up the concrete driveway and stood on the front porch of the two-story colonial he shared with his brothers. Located in a gated community less than five miles outside town, the home provided the level of seclusion he preferred. It was important to blend in with the humans, but at a safe distance.

He wiped the perspiration from his brow with the edge of his shirt hem. His leg muscles had tightened after the eighth mile, but he never slowed. The exercise nourished his human body, reducing his longing for Annabelle to a manageable level. But lately, the workouts weren't helping his growing desire. Even his nightly dreams were littered with visions of their entangled bodies, naked, writhing, moaning. He closed his eyes as he reimagined her cries of pleasure.

He heard someone scream, "Oh, God, yes!" but it wasn't Annabelle's voice.

And it wasn't happening inside his head.

The mystery woman screamed again, and he opened his eyes. The noise was coming from inside the house. Kaden cursed as he fiddled with his keys.

"Right there, don't stop!" the female cried.

He barreled down the hallway, following the sounds of heavy panting into the kitchen. His fists clenched. On the counter, a woman sat naked with her back arched and her legs splayed. He leaned to the side and saw his brother Cam nestled in her core. Was this really happening? He couldn't believe his brother had a naked human writhing around on their kitchen counter. Had he forgotten all the rules, which clearly stated their entertainment had to take place outside this house? And if he was willing to do this in here, where else had they been? Sickened, he tried not to think about the bodily fluids that were likely all over the surfaces. He had planned to make a sandwich after his long run, but he no longer had an appetite. As soon as this female was gone, he would order his brother to bleach every inch of these countertops.

"Camden," he said, covering his eyes. "We need to talk."

"There's no need for talking," the human female responded. "Why don't you join us instead?"

Totally disgusted by her suggestion, Kaden had no words as he continued to look in any direction other than theirs. He put his fist over his mouth and cleared his throat.

"Kaden," Cam acknowledged bitterly. "What an unwelcome surprise."

He knows the dangers. How can he behave so recklessly? He turned to face his brother. "I assure you, this doesn't register on the highlight reel for me, either."

Cam pulled his lover into a sitting position. "Why don't you go take a shower upstairs? I'll join you in a minute."

Running her finger over Cam's bottom lip, she said, "Don't make me wait too long." He held out his hand, helping her off the counter. Even though Kaden had no interest in her, she tried to get his attention. Her body was impressive, but she was nothing compared to Annabelle.

Kaden turned his attention back to his brother. He had planned to wait until he heard the shower water start before he spoke, but Cam beat him to it. "She's quite eccentric, that one," he said casually. "During foreplay, she asks me to scold her and spank her over my knee. Hayden will be most intrigued."

"You know the rules, Camden. We do not bring guests into our home."

"Never mind your endless list of rules. I uncovered something amazing just now." He rubbed his hands together, and the tips of his fingers glowed white. "I surged her nucleus accumbens and successfully elevated her orgasm." He wiggled his eyebrows as if he expected Kaden to be impressed by his discovery.

"Are you out of your mind?" Camden's ability to manipulate electronic pulses was meant to be used as a defense mechanism. "You don't know what damage you could've done to her brain!"

Their powers were one of the few things they didn't share with their FBI handlers. If they found out, he feared they would see them as a threat. Or they would try to use their abilities for their own purposes.

"Oh, relax. Hayden taught me how to do it," Cam said.

Well, of course he did. Hayden, their middle brother, saw everything as a potential science experiment. Who knew what types of daily trials he was conducting at the secret government lab in Washington, D.C.?

"I'll deal with Hayden later. But you, Cam, how can you be so stupid? What if she discovers us, then what?" Kaden put his hand up before Cam could respond. "No, I'll answer. They'll lock us up and experiment on us like lab rats. Is that what you want?"

"I want to live my life!" Cam slammed his fist into the counter, cracking a portion of the granite. He stared at the broken piece of slab and then relaxed his tone. "We've followed their rules, we've taken on these identities, and we're blending in."

Cam couldn't understand the severity of the situation. He was young and never thought of the consequences of his actions. Since his first taste of female humans, he'd preferred to spend his waking moments in as many of them as were willing. And from what Kaden had witnessed, there were many eager participants.

"Don't you see that this can all be taken away?" In exchange for their knowledge of science, medicine, technology, and the universe, the brothers were allowed to remain on Earth. To keep them hidden, the FBI put them in the witness protection program with new identities, a house, and a monthly allowance. "We have to follow their rules. If anyone discovered the truth, there would be mass panic, and we don't know how the government would react." He came to stand next to Cam, putting his hand on his shoulder. "Protecting this family is my number-one priority."

"You are protecting us, but at the same time, you need to let your guard down every once in a while and have some fun." Cam peered over his shoulder at the empty staircase and grinned. "These human females are amazing. Their bodies are so sensitive to even the slightest touch. And when you enter them" — Cam visibly shivered — "it's unlike any other sensation."

Kaden had often wondered what sex would feel like in his human form. His fantasies starred Annabelle in all kinds of scenarios. "No, thanks."

"If you want Annabelle, tell her. It's obvious that she's into you. Her lust radiates off her every time I see the two of you together."

Kaden's chest ached. One of the conditions of their intergalactic immunity forbade marital unions with humans, and since he would never be satisfied with a sex-only relationship with her, he had no choice in the matter. He must maintain only a friendship with Annabelle.

"Go on." He motioned for Cam to go upstairs. "Enjoy yourself, but keep a close eye on her while she's in this house."

Cam shook his head and quickly started up the steps. "You don't know what you're missing, bro."

That was the problem for Kaden. He knew exactly what he was missing, and his lust for it grew more dangerous with each passing day.

CHAPTER 2

"It took me twenty minutes to finally make it to the front of the line," Mrs. Dansbury whined, pushing her glasses higher on her nose, scanning the hordes of people parked in every available seat of Annabelle's bakery. "You really need to get some more help in here if you can't handle this many people."

Mrs. Dansbury always found something to complain about. When Annabelle first opened the bakery, she usually griped about the temperature in the store. After Annabelle won Cutthroat Cupcake on the Food Network, then it was the long lines, even if she only had two or three people in front of her. Annabelle wanted to be appreciative of her loyal business, but why did she have to make it so hard?

"You could always call ahead." She handed her a menu and pointed to her phone number on the bottom. "I'd be happy to put your order together in advance."

"Oh, honey, that's so sweet" — she smiled as if it was painful — "but it's a miracle that I have time to come here, let alone call ahead."

As usual, Mrs. Dansbury was in a hurry to get to work. Each weekday, Annabelle rushed to prepare breakfast platters for her while she fiddled through her briefcase and talked on her cell phone. She always spoke of her importance in the company that she worked for, but Annabelle had found out a few months ago she was a receptionist at a local car dealership.

She handed her a box of assorted pastries, bagels, and muffins with a smile. Mrs. Dansbury snatched up the container and hurried out the door. Annabelle leaned up against the back counter, closed her eyes, and rubbed her temples. Mrs. Dansbury was correct — her business had doubled in the past few months and it was becoming too much for her to handle on her own. She debated internally about how many people she should hire. She figured at least one cashier would be nice as well as a baker. Someone cleared their throat. Hilary, her best friend, stood in front of her.

"I don't know how you deal with customers like that," Hilary said, moving her oversize designer sunglasses to the top of her head. "That lady seriously needs to take it down a few notches."

Annabelle shrugged. "She's not that bad. She's been great business for me."

"Winning Cutthroat Cupcake was great for your business," Hilary corrected. "That lady is a bitch." She'd always had a no-nonsense attitude, which was probably part of the reason she was made partner in her accounting firm at only twenty-six.

"Would you like your usual?"

"No, today I'll take a large coffee, and Michael will have a sesame bagel with light cream cheese."

Annabelle froze. "Is he here?"

"He's sitting at the back table by the window on the left. The guy with the black suit and purple tie. And yes, he's a big Ravens fan."

This was the first time I have had the pleasure of reading Stacey O'Neale, now I am wondering why I never picked up her work before... I will be completely honest by saying that I really wasn't sure what to expect when I read this was an Alien one but hot damn... no more judgement from me. This is hot steamy, intense, nail biting. One Clicking anything else by Stacey now.....

Absolutely loved this book! Great plot and brilliantly written. Whole alien aspect made it all the more mysterious and intriguing. I liked the romance and I loved the mystery surrounding it. Also all characters are awesome and I'd definitely love to read more about them. I hope that's a possibility.

Annabelle and Kaden are a major swoon worthy couple. Right from the start we learn how they feel about one another. And they are the bestest of friends and quite possibly the cutest friends couple. When Kaden calls Annabelle by his nickname for her, the heart melts. They just seem to "fit" each other. I loved their protectiveness of one another. And when they finally come together, Perfection! Their chemistry just took off and the sweet things he did for her...beautiful! Their story flowed easily and without any slow parts. When you find out who is causing problems, it is a little surprising. The family connections (his brothers and her parents) along with her other best friend provide quite a bit of entertainment. I hope this is not the last we see of this group of characters. They were a fun great loyal bunch. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.

A very well written paranormal romance story. This genre is not usually my cup of tea but Stacey O'Neale has done a masterful job. Annabelle owns a bakery shop and she's now enjoying a surge in business thanks to her appearance on a tv show. She's quite smitten with Kaden but after a year of flirting and subtle and not-so-subtle hints, Annabelle has finally given up. Kaden has resisted her because he is an alien and that's one of the rules he's to abide by. But when Annabelle decides to start dating and Kaden finds out...

Disclaimer: I received a review copy (via NetGalley) in exchange of an honest review. (Not my usual NA content . . .) Characters/Plot: Kaden is quite the character. The cover does his description justice. Annabelle is sensible, I suppose, up until you realize how attracted she is to Kaden, who is an E.T. Right from the start, you learn that they both have feelings for each other, more than best friends should. And then things get steamy, like a lot. Also, you get attached to their relationship, and when the road gets bumpy, it hits home. My Honest Opinions/Thoughts: I bloody cried towards the end, when Kaden lied to Annabelle. My heart was wrenched from my chest, and I bloody L♥VED it! Totally worth the read for those of you who like Sci-Fi and steamy romance. And hot-headed best friends who will kick a guy's butt for breaking her girl's heart. I have read a lot of EntangledPub's books, mainly Crush and a few from Embrace. But I did not know what to expect from Crave, and I was not disappointed. Under His Skin was a great read and I am sure I will read it again. http://haddieshaven.blogspot.com/2015/09/under-his-skin-entangled-covet-review.html

I was very curious by the blurb to this story and picked it up for review. I like the Earth Girls Are Never Easy part, it reminded me of the older movie. That is the only thing similar between the two. This is a more serious, action packed story where the movie was goofy. To get back on track, this book held my attention from the very beginning. Now, there are some funny moments, for example when Kaden and Bells go on their first formal date and Kaden researches formal dates online and ends up giving them a prom date. I liked that the Author made them not totally acclimated to our culture and there is the funny mix up, like their first date, I think it makes it seem more realistic. This story is not super sexy hot, it does have some sexy scenes, but I would rate it a moderate on the hot scale. I do think when Cam and Hilary get their own story it will be great, I really enjoyed these two characters and their one scene together left me wanting more of them. It did have some predictable moments, such as who the bad guy was, but it did not detract from my liking the story. The story was interesting and different enough from others of the same genre to keep me reading and I was done very quickly with it. Can't wait to read the next book! 3.5Stars *Received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

Under His Skin is both brilliantly captivating and breathlessly passionate in its unrelenting pursuit of devotion and loyalty. This story buried itself deep within my heart from the very beginning and it only ingrained itself even deeper throughout this amazing journey. I found myself falling in love with all of the characters that I discovered along the way, and that is not something I do too often. I was held spellbound and enraptured by the power and gentleness that is infused within the words of this amazing book. I hope with all my heart that we will be seeing more from these outstanding characters in the near future! They are too incredible, too unique, and too intriguing to not bring back for more appearances. Annabelle Sparks is absolutely thrilled to watch her beloved business grow and expand due to her recent win on a TV show. However, even seeing this wonderful development doesn’t lift her spirit as much as she would think. Her problem isn’t with her business, but with her best friend Kaden Chance. He’s a great friend, but the problem is that she wants so much more from him then friendship. No matter how many hints she drops, he seems to not understand what she is trying to tell him. There are secrets that Kaden can never tell Annabelle no matter how badly he might want to open up to her completely. More than just his own desires are at stake, so he quietly and painfully watches Annabelle slip through his fingers. Can Kaden find a way to reach out and take the gift of Annabelle’s heart, or will he have to walk away forever tearing his own heart to pieces? I truly loved seeing the beautiful and precious friendship that Annabelle and Kaden share. It is a special gift that they have the pleasure to experience, and while they don’t want to jeopardize it, they know their growing feelings for the other is way beyond what friendship can contain. Seeing how wonderfully sensitive and utterly passionate that Kaden is towards Annabelle filled my heart with a delicate hope that these two could find a way to reach each other. No other woman has ever turned Kaden’s head or heart like Annabelle has, and she has never been taken by any man like she has with Kaden. To watch these two really get to know each other and build such a strong and secure foundation was a beautiful sight to behold. The love and respect for the other far outweighed their desire for more, and that saved them time and time again. Stacey O’Neale has stolen my heart with this incredible story of learning that only with unconditional love and unending devotion can we truly live a life of meaning and purpose. I have been in love with her Mortal Enchantment series, but this is something extra special that I have thoroughly enjoyed. These characters are sure to thoroughly delight and entertain, and I look forward to hearing more from them. I truly can’t wait to hear about Cam and Hilary’s story, and let’s not forget about Hayden.

Kaden, Hayden and Camden are all aliens, seeking refuge here on earth as their home planet is no more. Kaden was married but his wife was killed as they tried to escape. For over a year now, he has been friends with Annabelle, wanting to be more, but mindful of the rules and regulations that he has to follow, which allow him to stay 'free' on earth. Annabelle is determined to make her own way through life, and stand on her own two feet. She is refreshingly direct, and does not play games. The interactions between these were hot, albeit I did get whiplash from Kaden a couple of times. This is well-written and steadily paced, there are moments of sweetness, balanced by downright sexiness! This is the first book in the series and I can't wait for the next. I don't know if it will be Hayden (my favourite, but then I do love me a hot geek!) or Camden. Either way, I know it will be brilliant. Definitely recommended. * I received this book from Entangled Publishing in return for a fair and honest review. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I was very surprised with this one. Even though it was an Alien encounter, I really did not even feel like it was while reading it. The encounters were so subtle that it made for a very interesting read!!! Annabelle is the owner of a very popular bakery after her win on a TV show for a bake-off for bakeries. Annabelle has been so focused on her bakery and it's growing success that she has not had much time for anything else. Annabelle meets Kaden because he comes into the bakery very often. Annabelle waits on Kaden to make a move and ask her to go out on a date, but he never does. Annabelle is head over heels for Kaden but she gets mixed feelings from him. When Annabelle finally gives up after a year and decides to go out with another guy, Kaden starts to make his move and is very protective of Kaden. Kaden and his brother have come to live in Germantown but are anything but normal. They are aliens that have been put there to carry on with their lives. The brothers don't have a heartbeat except when they find their mate. When Kaden notices that he feels something in himself, he wonders what is going on and if Annabelle is his perfect match. Kaden has to figure out how he is going to be able to tell Annabelle about him and his brother. They take things slow and are anxious to see where things go. There have been crazy things happening with no explanation. Annabelle sees someone in the shadows, someone throws a rock through the bakery window, but none of them can figure out who or what is doing these strange things. I got caught up in this story and forgot about Kaden and his brother being aliens and enjoyed the story so much! I love how Stacey O'Neale was able to make you forget about this being an alien encounter. The chemistry between Kaden and Annabelle is unmistakable and I fell in love with the two of them. Thanks Stacey for a great read and I look forward to more from you in the near future! I was given an ARC of this book for my honest opinion but that sis not influence my opinion!

RATING 4.5 STARS Under His Skin by Stacey O’Neale was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley, Entangled Publishing and Stacey O’Neale. Kaden Chance is not of this world. He is an alien. Since he and his two brothers landed on earth two years ago, they were able to obtain human DNA to have a human body. The first year of their lives they spent in an FBI facility learning how to blend in to human society. After that they were given identities and set up in the quiet community of Germantown, Maryland. Annabelle Sparks also lives in Germantown. After winning on the television reality show, Cupcake Wars, she now runs a very successful bakery she calls Yummy Bakery. She became friends with Kaden a year ago and was attracted to him from the start. She hinted in every way possible but it seemed that Kaden wanted to keep her in the friend zone. So she finally decided to give up and date. One of the main rules Kaden and his brothers were given was that they could not form romantic relationships. Kaden thought of nothing else than his longing to kiss Annabelle but he knew he couldn’t. But then he found out she intended to go on a date with another man. The hearts of his species don’t actually beat unless they are beginning to bond with their intended mate. And at that moment when Kaden stood there gazing at Annabelle, his heart began to beat for the very first time. This was a very cute book that I totally enjoyed. It was sweet, sexy, and even suspenseful. Annabelle has been getting prank phone calls, then a brick thrown through her window. Is someone after her or do they want Kayden? Kaden is so smitten with Annabelle it is just so adorable. But he constantly struggles with himself. Should he go for it, or does he take the chance? Could he ever tell her what he really is? Doesn’t she deserve a normal life with a normal human? Then when danger comes to their doorstep, he is convinced that there is no way he could ever fit into her life. This is my first Stacey O’Neale book but I guarantee that it won’t be my last. It was fast paced and fun. I am fairly certain this is going to be a series. I will be completely on board if it is. Hopefully there will be future books about Kaden’s brothers. And possibly Annabelle’s best friend will be back. She was so much fun.

Kaden and Annabelle's story was unique. I think that is what originally caught my attention. I enjoy stories that defy the odds and have characters that capture my attention and keep me interested until the very end. Under His Skin did just that. Stacey O'Neale took people who had differences and showed that being different is not what matters, it's what is on the inside that makes a person who they are. The heart, mind and soul are the guiding factors. Annabelle was confident in her professional life but unsure in her personal one. Kaden was hesitant in revealing his true feelings because of other things he has been hiding from her. His truths could destroy their relationship completely. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. I have not read this genre before but I am impressed with Under His Skin. The story was sexy, romantic and beautifully presented.

I laughed a lot as I read this. This author obviously has a great sense of humor and timing because this story was able to be sexy and sweet and snarky and confused and dramatic and completely funny all at the same time! And that, to me, is the mark of an author I want to read. Kaden (and his brothers) landed on Earth from another planet and were eventually allowed to stay in the US by the government, assuming they followed a few simple rules. Such as no fraternization with the humans - which to me would be RUDE if this was a real-life scenario and I would have a word or three with any government dude who tried to get between me and my true alien love! Anyways…. So even though Kaden has feelings for the lovely Annabelle he would rather be her friend than never see her again. But the moment Annabelle - thanks to some pushing and shoving from her good friend Hilary - decides she has had enough of this sitting around and mooning over Kaden and should try to move forward with her life, is when the “buttercream” hits the fan! When Kaden’s silent alien heart realizes she could actually end up with someone else it starts to beat – which scares him and his brothers! And leaves them confused and conflicted about what to do. And how to do it. To find out how Kaden and his brothers tackle this issue and all the rest that “pop up” as well as handle a very intriguing and dangerous mystery, grab the book and dive in. You will be glad you did!

This book is a fabulous combination of two of my favorite genres: fantasy and romance. I have read very few books that are able to make such a successful combination! Annabelle, is a baker, who competed on Cupcake Wars and has built a business built on her baking skills. Her best friend and secret crush, Kaden appeared in her life 2 years ago. They spend a lot of time together, but neither is willing to act on their feelings for the other because they value their relationship. Kaden has a big secret, which is he and his brothers are aliens that have sought refuge her on Earth. They are allowed to live normal lives, but must not reveal their to any one and leave all Earth alone. Kaden's species has a way to tell their mate, and he learns that Annabelle is his true love. Will their love conquer all the obstacles? I really enjoyed this book and look forward to many like it in the future! It is the perfect combination of fantasy and romance!I was given a free copy for an honest review by netgalley.com.

Annabelle is a baker that secretly lusts after her friend Kaden. What she doesn't know is tat Kaden is a witness protection program with his 3 brothers for Aliens! She waits forever for Kaden to make a move, but it just doesn't happen. Until one day it does. Little does she know that Kadens heart only starts beating for the one he loves. Great book. I wasn't sure if I would like the Alien twist but it was a great refreshing change from the usual love from afar plot line.

Rating: 4.5/5 Under His Skin was such an interesting story that had me reading all night long. The author brought something new to your typical paranormal story that made it unique, and the cover just made it that much more appealing to read. From the very beginning we meet Annabelle Sparks, a very successful bakery owner whose success after winning a reality TV show called Cupcake Wars skyrocketed quickly. But with all that success, you would think that she’ll have a line of guys waiting to meet her outside her bakery, right? Well, that doesn’t really happen. Needless to say she is only interested in one guy, her best friend, Kaden Chance. After spending a year desperately trying to get him to notice her, Annabelle is at the point where she thinks it will be better to move on from her long-time crush. Yet when she starts to asks questions about his family or where he is from, things start to happen that puts her and her bakery in danger. Kaden Chance is not from Earth. He is in fact an alien who has been living inside a human body along with his two other brothers while staying in a small town as part of a semi government experiment. Although they are there to help out the government in exchange of getting new identities and a home, they still need to provide information that could be useful to their fellow humans. But aside from all of that his relationship with Annabelle has grown and although he wants to turn their friendship into something else, he can’t help to feel that that is never going to happen. When Annabelle suddenly starts to date, he starts to feel jealousy and something that he has never experienced before, a heartbeat. Everything changes after that, he suddenly feels the need to protect her and make her his. Yet that can’t happen when a something threatens to make his life miserable, and he has to do everything in his power to stop it before it’s too late. Before reading the book I had only read a couple of “alien books” in the past, not many though. But as I started reading Under His Skin, I really enjoyed reading the author’s take on alien life. The characters are full of life and we do get to see both of their perspectives which helped a lot in terms of getting the bigger picture. In terms of the characters, Annabelle is kind and good at what she does. After knowing Kaden for a while now, she has slowly developed feelings for him and when he doesn’t notice her, she thinks that it would be better to move on. That ends up helping her, and not really because she finds out who he really is. Which leads to the whole idea of being an alien, the author doesn’t go in depth of Kaden’s world. I would have liked to have read more about him and his world, instead of just getting very little information of it. Overall, I enjoyed reading the book, I thought the romance was great and the story as a whole was unique, definitely worth reading. : ) ***ARC provided by Entangled: Covet in exchange for an honest review.***

2.5 quite disappointed Stars. This review is mildly spoilerish and I have to say this story didn’t really work for me. So beware... Under his Skin is the story of Annabelle the sweet baker and Kaden the off the charts hot Adonis who’s been her best friend for over a year. Anabelle has been salivati— in love with him since the day they’ve met. Unfortunately for her, Kaden seems to be oblivious to the fact she is a girl. Tired of waiting for him to make a move, with the help of her BFF she puts in motion a plan to make him notice her. Kaden has been unable to stay away from Belle since the moment he laid eyes on her… but as he is an alien in a type of witness program he can’t be in a relationship with her, still he needs his daily fix of her presence even if he can only be with her as just a friend. But soon things start to get out of control, hearts start to beat (literally), weird things start to happen and secrets are bound to get exposed. This story had a lot of potential. Hot aliens, destined mates, a mystery stalker… Unfortunately, I felt this potential trickle to nothing as the story went on. I don’t want to give too much away, but Kaden ended up being one of those wishy-washy H’s who think, although they have found their soul mate, she would be better off without him. She’d have a better life, someone who deserves her… I mean really? Didn’t you just say she was meant for you? How come someone else would be better? So this, along with his resistance to move things along… bedroom wise (it takes them over the 80% mark to get it on) and then the rushed feeling of the ending and the way it was resolved… well, my interest and enjoyment fizzled out until there was practically nothing left. It’s not that I didn’t like the story, it’s more that it could have been a freaking awesome book and it wasn’t. *I received a complimentary copy from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Under His Skin is by new-to-me author Stacey O’Neale. This is the very first book I’ve read by Miss O’Neale and don’t let my rating on it fool you. It may only be a three star but I loved this book! It is well written in alternating third person point-of-view, and I’m not even going to fib here. I’m excited for books about the main heros brothers already. Lets not forget to even mention that book cover! It’s fantastic! In particular, Under His Skin is about a bakery owner who has fallen in love with her best friend. I don’t know about you, but I love friends to lovers tropes. The fact that this one had a pretty neat twist to it, and it was well done, as well as well plotted out, made it even better. The thing about this is that, Annabelle doesn’t know everything and Kaden has a pretty big secret. How do you fall in love with a human and not realize you have? Sure, you know you’re lusting after her, but actually fall in love? Kaden, our hero, is sort of… oblivious. He’s strong, handsome, Annabelle can’t seem to not drool over him but he’s also loyal and a great friend. Oh, and he’s an alien. (I won’t give you backstory on why he’s on Earth, that would be spoilers!) Annabelle and Kaden have been close, near to inseparable since the first day the met. There are feelings there, but Kaden denies them while Annabelle things he’s just immune to her. So her best friend sets her up on date, which Kaden doesn’t like, not in the least, and it all implodes from there. Classic story of loving someone and keeping them at bay because you DO love them and thinking you’re protecting them. So again, I rated it a 3 star, but in truth I’d lean more toward 3.5. It really is a great boo, and if the brothers get written about it’s definitely a series to read. I know I’ll be watching for that!

Under His Skin,  Stacey O'Neale Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:  Romance,Sci-fi and Fantasy Its rare for me to not get on with an Entangled covet but this book and I just didn’t gel : –( The book was fine, the story adequate and I can see others love it but for me it was a fail. I just found the whole plot about the brothers too unreal, and even in fantasy I have to feel that if Supernaturals were real the story could be credible. I didn’t though – found the brothers weird, and Kaden blowing hot and cold, trying to find ways out even when his history says he’s in a life match so to speak. The FBI connection too – I just couldn’t believe in it, there’s no way three unknowns would get treated that way... Then there’s Annabelle, she’s a sweet girl but I found it hard to see or feel anything real between her and Kaden, just a surface attraction.  I felt the romance was a bit “rose tinted specs” type where it was her dreams about him, more than Kaden himself that she was in love with. Just too light and fluffy for me, a chocolate mousse dessert rather than a rich, flavourful, dense Sachertorte.... I skim read from about halfway through as I just couldn’t get along with this book. Stars: Sadly just two, a decent book others will love I’m sure but for me it just didn’t work. Everyone likes different reads, and this was a bad choice on my part.   ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers.
