Good book. Quick read. Loved the theme.

I really enjoyed the fact that the heroine Alice and her friends were mechanics who'd ventured to open their own shop that catered to women. That’s a nice spin on tried and true professions. This was a cute story with a nice heroine who had her heart broken in the past due to misguided trust, and a delicious lawyer hero who was probably a bit jaded by relationships considering his specialty was divorce. This was a quick, enjoyable read with lots of light moments, tenderness, and nicely paced dialogue. A wonderful way to spend my lunch hour :)

Alice and her friends are mechanics. So awesome! I absolutely loved that they opened their own garage just to make other women feel comfortable about taking their car in for repairs! I need to find a shop like that in my area. While I do agree that it is best to be honest up front, I thought it was sweet that Mark let Alice “rescue” him and not overshadow her with his knowledge. Bonus points for that man! Under the Hood was another quick read and such a delight! I have now purchased the second novella in the series, Love for Beginners! I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Alice, Mel and Betty are the owners of a new mechanical shop for women called “Under the hood”.   Alice just moves from New York where she is starting over not only with a new shop but with men in general.  The last relationship that she was in didn’t go well because of honesty and Matt her new neighbor isn’t totally honest with her.    When Matt needs some help Alice is there to help him with his car problems, but can he un-dig himself from the lie that he really does know about cars and doesn’t need Alice’s help?    You don’t want to miss out on this quick read, you will pick it up and will not want to put it down.

A great novella that kept me totally entertained!! Alice, Mel and Betty are struggling to get their all women garage going. When Matt meets Alice he may not have been completely honest with her. Can they overcome their differences?? Grab this one for a quick fun read and find out. I recommend it.

this was a short but very sweet story about finding love and above all trust again. Alice is a burnt child and moves to another city to find some place where she can live her life without pitying glances. She joins the garage, three friends of her opened - which is mainly for female customers she is an open and friendly character and enjoys life. Mark is a lawyer and has mainly divorce cases, where he represents the women. when he and Alice meet she "rescues" him and helps him with some car problems ... although he is quite capable of solving the problem himself. they start seeing each other ... and there are some problems - especially because of his "lying" or in my eyes his late reaction and not openly discussing things this story is a very funny, romantic and quick read for rainy afternoons, when you need something to lighten your mood. I loved it but it was a bit short for me ... it could have been longer disclaimer: a Copy was provided to me for an honest review.

Copy provided to me for an honest review.. I have to start by saying that this is my favorite book from Sally so far. Under the Hood was a quick, fun, flirty read that I enjoyed from start to finish. I loved that the heroine Alice is the sexy mechanic that rescues the man. You usually see it the other way around so it was a nice change. Mark is a sexy divorce attorney that is not an egotistical jerk like many others. The attraction between Alice and Mark was instant hot. This is a fast read, but the author left nothing out and wrapped it up nicely.

Good Book! Under the Hood by Sally Clements is a sweet romantic novella about auto mechanic Alice Starr and divorce attorney Mark Jameson. Alice has recently relocated from New York to Meadowsweet, Virginia. She and her two friends own the first garage that caters their repair services exclusively to women. Mark is a townie, and his success is primarily due to word of mouth. Alice and Mark exude sex appeal, in addition to being smart and interesting. Their relationship is slow going, mainly because Mark is not forthcoming about his mechanical skills. However, with each interaction their feelings become more intense, and a few kisses are just not enough. Luckily, honesty conquers all. This is a well written novella with a solid plot and descriptive characters. If you have an hour or so to spare, spend it with Under the Hood.
