This summer the new movie Finding Dory seems to be on the must see list for most families. With eight grandkids of my own I can assure you it is on our to-do list as well. I'm sure it is going to be a wonderful movie that will take us all into the colorful undersea world. After watching the movie I'm also sure that my grands will be enamored with all things Dory. To me this is the perfect time to capitalize on their fascination with all the sea creatures by introducing them to the Creator of this underwater world. Zonderkidz has just released a new children's Bible that focuses on sea life. It uses the NIrV translation which is designed for a third grade reading level. The sentences and word structure are simplified without loosing the correct translation. I have come to appreciate this as my grands have become readers. It gives them such a sense of accomplishment to be able to read the Bible on their own. There are several inserts that have beautiful illustrations and break down specific scripture like "the love chapter" (1 Corinthians 13:1-13), The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), and the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17 and Deuteronomy 5:7-21). My favorite interactive portion in this children's Bible is titled "Famous Children Of The Bible". The section gives a hint or clue about a particular boy(s) or girl(s) then it gives the Scripture reference where the answer can be found. As a former homeschooling momma this is right up my alley! You could easily make a game out of this that would be a learning opportunity disguised as a fun activity. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

"....He Gently Leads Those Who Have Little Ones"--Isaiah 40:11 Ready to dive into the Bible with a catchy Under the Sea Theme? Zonderkidz has come up with one, a beautiful hardback Bible geared for children aged six to ten. The cover itself is really eye catching with lots of brightly colored, glittery ocean life and fish. The translation is one made for kids, too. It is the New International Reader's Version or NlrV, the NIV for kids. When this Bible is first opened, there is a beautiful presentation page made of heavy weight paper. It is colorful, and contains more ocean-theme characters. The back of the page contains all the books of the Bible, along with ocean-life decorations. What this Bible has to offer for children is very appealing. There are three special sections geared toward children, and they are one page each. Each of those pages, front and back, are incredibly cute with lots of eye appeal, and contain things geared just for kids. Those pages, which are full color and made of heavy weight paper, contain: - Prayer Is... - The Lord's Prayer - Ten Commandments For Kids (Based on Exodus 20:1-17 and Deuteronomy 5:7-21) - Love Passage For Kids (Based on 1 Corinthians 13) - Famous Children Of The Bible - The ABCs Of Becoming A Christian At the back of the volume, there is a list of Great Bible Stories along with a Bible Dictionary, but those are not printed on the special heavy-weight paper. There are no other pictures, maps or other supplemental material included in this Bible. Also, other than the presentation page along with the three special page inserts, the type of paper used for this Bible is the regular, very thin, onion-skin type of paper used in traditional Bibles. My concern is that six to ten year-old-fingers might have trouble turning those pages without tearing them. Zonderkidz has done lots of things right in this Bible. They have kept it affordable with a suggested price of $24.99. Having a special version of the text geared towards children is also a wonderful idea. The cover is amazing, and the three supplemental pages are eye catching, and wonderfully creative, but that is where things stop. Since this is geared towards children, I would have liked to have seen at least six to nine or more "special" colorful pages in this Bible, along with a least one colorful map--more would be even better. There is a lot that is good in this 4 star Bible, but I think a little bit more would have made this a great Bible for children. The publisher has provided bookreadingtic with a complimentary copy of The Under the Sea Holy Bible, through Zondervan Publishing for the purpose of review. I have not been compensated in any other manner. All opinions expressed are my own, and I was not required, or influenced, to give anything but an honest appraisal. Under the Sea Holy Bible is probably the cutest Bible I have ever seen. It is perfect for young kids. The cover is absolutely adorable and there are a few cute informative pictures throughout this Bible. The print is large enough for kids to read easily but not too large. I think the level of reader ability is geared towards 7-10 year olds. Older children should be able to read very easily. Younger children might need a helper. This Bible will make a great gift for a child who needs a Bible, but wants one with kids in mind. My kids love the front cover where there is some texture to some of the characters. I received this book for free to review. all opinions are my own.

NIrV, Under the Sea Holy Bible by Zondervan is an amazing Bible for kids! My 8 year old loves fish so she was more than thrilled to receive this Bible. She loves the sparkling fish on the interior and the beautiful cover. The colorful inserts featuring whimsical underwater scenes with themes of God’s care and love for each of us and all of creation is also a wonderful touch to this Bible. This Bible is absolutely perfect for kids 6-10 years old, especially those that love fish. I highly recommend this NIrV, Under the Sea Holy Bible by Zondervan! Disclosure: I received product(s) for free, in exchange for my honest review. I only recommend products I've used personally, and believe will be good fit for consumers.

I received this book free to read and review. My kids love it and fought over whomgets to look and read it first. It easy for kids to read or ttry to read. Parents can read it to their kids and they will be able to understand. Also has some pictures and kid commandments. I recommend for all families. You can never have too many Bibles.

The first thing that catches your eye with this Bible is the cover. It reminds me of Finding Nemo, and the glittery additions to the undersea creatures makes me think of Rainbow Fish. Since both of these are popular with children in the target age group, I think the cover will be a huge hit. The fact that it is a hardcover, and more durable, is also a plus with young readers, who are not always the most dutiful caretakers of books. The color inserts also contain undersea-related artwork to draw the young readers attention, and then they each share some quality information about God. I especially liked the page which presents the Ten Commandments in language which children can easily understand (although I think that the 9th one, which is written as "You may not tell lies, especially when that lie will hurt someone else," could have stopped at "You may not tell lies.") If you, like me, are unfamiliar with the NIrV (New International Reader's Version), it is based on the New International Version (NIV), which is currently the most used version of the Bible. The NIrV is for beginning readers, so it has shorter sentences and uses shorter words which are easier to understand. That makes it an excellent Bible for a young child who is anxious to read on their own. I intend to give this Bible to my 6 yr. old grandson to replace his Preschooler Bible (which he can soon pass on to his younger sister). **I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.**

There are many Bibles available for children today. A new Bible has just been released by Zondervan that reaches out to young readers who are captivated by sea life. The Under The Sea Bible is a hard covered book with a glittered cover depicting sea life. It contains the full Bible text in the New International Reader's Version (NIrV) which is being called the NIV for kids. Throughout the Bible, there are colorful pages with topics such as prayer, love, the 10 commandments, famous children of the Bible and the ABCs of salvation. I expected to see more colorful pages and illustrations in this Bible than what are truly there. This is really just a basic Bible with 4 colored pages (front and back), one of which is the opening page with spaces for the child's name. While it is marketed as a child's Bible, I have seen more captivating and interactive children's Bibles than this one. It is cute, but beyond the few colored pages, it is full Bible text as any adult Bible. There are no other child friendly entries or commentary. I feel bad rating a Bible poorly, I really want to like this Bible, but I don't see my kids getting into it all that much. They are the age to enjoy the ocean and the bright sparkly cover, but I feel like by the time they will be old enough to use it as a full adult level Bible, they will be over the ocean theme. I wish there were more child friendly content within. Still, it is a Bible, full and complete, and in a very common and familiar translation. A fun gift Bible for sure! * I received this book in exchange for my honest and un-biased review. All thoughts expressed are my own.

This book is a full length Bible. It has color inserts, but really only about four pages are colored. It's really lengthy and I have issues believing that a six year old would be enthralled in it. I am not really to thrilled with the advertising of this Bible as "for kids" just because they put fish on the cover and four colorful pages within it. This really needs some reconsideration in how they present it.

Any child that loves the Ocean theme or the popular movie, Finding Nemo, will love to receive this new Under The Sea Holy Bible New International Readers Version (NIrV) bible. The beautiful and vibrant cover featuring vibrant sea creatures with bright smiles will certainly draw in young children and kids of all ages to open the cover to take a peek. Inside this bible are colorful themed inserts as well, to introduce children to basic bible concepts such as the books of the bible and the Ten Commandments. A quick peek as this beautifully designed bible is certain to impress any parent or gift giver. While I was impressed at the beautifully designed cover, I was underwhelmed after I actually took a look inside. Once you open the bible, you will find a pretty standard pew-like bible with its tiny black print on standard white pages. Lacking any graphics, and with its space saving small font, this is enough to detract from the readability of the bible, which is a large drawback for a bible marketed for young readers. Although I was greatly impressed by the cover and the color insert pages, I would pass this bible up as I can not picture any young reader actually wanting to read the text of this bible. I am left puzzled and perplexed at why the publishers chose to use such a tiny sized font and as to why there was no spot color or graphics included within the text. In the end I was disappointed with this particular bible when considering all the other choices of full text children's bible which include accent colors and graphics. I feel the publishers could have integrated the aquatic theme throughout the bible. I do not feel enough was done with this bible to make it unique or easy for a young child to read. Although I love the fact that this is the NIrV version, young readers will struggle to trudge through this bible due to the super tiny font and the lack of graphics or art to break up the large chunks of monotonous text. As a blogger I received a copy of this bible published by Zondervan for the purpose of writing this review.

The UNDER THE SEA HOLY BIBLE is a good Bible for children who are into the sea, ocean, and their fascinating creatures to carry around. I like that the Bible is coming up with unique covers so each child's individual personal taste is represented. Inside the UNDER THE SEA HOLY BIBLE are eight glossy pages decorated with "sea' pictures scattered throughout the Bible. They include the ownership page, the books of the Bible, what is prayer, the ten commandments, the love passages famous children of the Bible and the ABCs of Christianity. This also makes the Bible interesting to look through and hopefully will encourage reading. The downside: the pages are thin and you can see words printed through them, and the print is super tiny which makes it hard for a beginning reader. I also would prefer this Bible in the KJV or NKJV.
