Lulu was sent to spy on the competition so she could find out the secret of their success. Her search turns up Hotsuma, a man bound to water so he can use his power to bring good luck to those who imprisoned him.
Working to set him free ignites a passion in Lulu only Hotsuma can quench, but they can't afford to let sex, no matter how good, distract them. Hotsuma's captors aren't about to let Lulu leave with their property, and they're willing to use deadly force to stop her. They'll need more than luck for their new love to survive.

"An excellent read which had a little intrigue, a lot of chemistry between the main characters, intense sex and of course a villain."

"I found this a fresh take on science fictional characters. There was action, it was fast paced, and the story really flowed."

About the Author
Whether as D. Reneé Bagby or Zenobia Renquist, Reneé lives in her imagination. When not traveling through her fantasy worlds, she can be found in Maryland living with her husband and two cats.
She is an Air Force brat turned Air Force wife, which means she's accustomed to travel and does it whenever possible (so long as she doesn't have to fly). Her favorite pastime is torturing her characters on their way to happily-ever-after for the enjoyment of her readers.
On the few occasions her muse flees the scene of the crime, Reneé likes to read (comics, manga, and romance), go to the movies, play a few levels of whichever puzzle game has hijacked her interest or experiment with a new chain mail weave.

Reviewed by Shyla Book provided by the publisher for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book Wildly imaginative, unique, and creative, Under Current sticks out from other romances I’ve read. The exploration of Japanese legends and traditions was exciting. I enjoyed the glimpse into it Ms. Renquist gave us. Trapped inside a day spa due to his ability to bring luck and good fortune, Hotsuma, has become a water spirit unable to do anything more than exist on the fringe of society. After centuries of imprisonment, a miracle happens. The wards that bind him are weakened by a visitor whose wandered into the wrong area. Hotsuma is a complex mix of emotions. Vulnerable, overwhelmed, and angered he runs a gamut of emotions. I admired his old world sense of protectiveness, and wit. Employed at the rival spa Voda, LuLu is at the popular hot springs to discover their secret recipe for success. What she unearths is way above her pay grade. I loved how clever, honorable, and sassy LuLu was. I felt like a co-conspirator along for the adventure. Her ability to see past Hotsuma’s translucent form to the man beneath spoke volumes about her and set up one hell of a love story. Talk about overcoming all obstacles. This short story packs a punch, takes many unexpected turns, and might set your underwear on fire with the sex scenes.
