Meet the Author

Gary Elsworth Myers was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and began playing his brothers drums at the age of nine. After a family move, he completed high school in Bradenton, Florida, joining his first band immediately after graduation. A second band included guitarist Dickie Betts, later of the Allman Brothers.

Gary learned his first bass notes and guitar chords while gigging on the road in 1962. He got his first guitar in 1964 and began figuring out the songs the band was learning. Subsequent studies included Berklee School of Music (correspondence course), Cerritos Junior College (Norwalk, CA), and over 48 years of playing music professionally. Besides drums, he has performed on guitar, bass, vibes, keyboard, piano and vocals. He has backed many name artists and worked with noted guitarists Larry Carlton and Jay Graydon. This is his fourth book.
