About the Author
Claudia Marshall Shelton is president of the Hopewell Company, which provides professional development, parent programs, and leadership development for schools and businesses throughout the country. She has developed and implemented school-wide strategies and curriculum focused on self-awareness and emotional learning that affect student academic performance, teacher satisfaction, school climate, and parent involvement in school life.
Shelton regularly publishes articles, presents keynote speeches, and conducts training programs at universities including Columbia University's Teachers College and City University of New York (CUNY).
She is a former teacher, school counselor, administrator and leadership development specialist.
Shelton is co-author of the book, Understanding Emotions in the Classroom, published by National Professional Resources, Inc./Dude Publishing.
Robin Stern, PhD is a is a licensed psychoanalyst, psychological consultant, author, and educator. She is an adjunct associate professor at Teachers College, is on the faculty The Training Institute for Mental Health in New York City, and is a senior consultant and lead trainer for the K-12 program The Ruler Approach, developed by Yale University researchers. She is a founding board member of The Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership, where she is on the faculty.
Stern teaches and consults about social-emotional learning and digital technologies, as well as the psychology of leadership and the development of emotional competence. She also writes and speaks about ethical leadership and emotional intelligence, social-emotional development, and communication.
