This was such a fun read. Annie Fuller, a part time fortune teller, investigates a family of spiritualists, certain they're frauds and up to something actually sinister. The personal conflict for Annie is very honestly handled and I appreciated that. The relationship between her and Nate develops, which I also liked. But I think what made this so fun was the cast of truly unusual characters, well drawn, complex, and at times downright strange. I'm looking forward to more from this author.

This book is a gem! I love good "true to life" Victorian stories and Ms Locke comes so close to true life that it's seem to be written by a person living in San Francisco in the 1800's I also recommend "Maids of Misfortune" I LOVE both books ~ I wish she would've written a 100 more books! I highly highly highly recommend it

It isn't easy to find books that get everything so right. Well written; check. Smart, enjoyable characters that still think and act in a manner true to their place and time; check. Satisfying development of those characters, plenty of authentic historical detail, a mystery that I didn't figure out half-way in; check, check, and check! I'm enjoying this series very much and look forward to reading more Annie Fuller novels.

Absolutely loved it! Well written. Takes you back to a forgotten era with ease, in addition to mystery and intrigue. Looking forward to the next book.

Uneasy Spirits was a pleasant surprise for me as it is the first book in the series that I have read. I look forward to reading more of them. The characters were wonderfully well fleshed out and likeable. The period details were illuminating. The mystery itself kept me guessing along with the heroine. Although I knew Simon and his wife were "bad guys", I had no idea who the rest of the real culprits were. All in all, a very satisfying mystery, with period details and a romance, to boot.

I throughly enjoyed reading Uneasy Spirits and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. A whodunit that keeps you guessing till the very end.

I have been an avid reader for over 35 years. This book was impossible for me to follow. It introduced too many people all at once and jumped around too much. I did not finish the book.

Deliciously right and enjoyable for this lucky reader. I do usually choose to read anything with super natural aspects. I am glad I made an exception in this case. I shall search for more by the author.

Loving this series and this author. These books are so fun for me because I learn about san francisco history while reading a clever, cozy mystery. I also enjoy knowing where some of the places are located. This one also surprised me; it was not the outcome I expected. I joined the author's newsletter and received a free collection of short stories. Bonus!

The continuing story of Annie Fuller does not disappoint. We learn more about Annie's past as she tries to discover the secrets of a couple performing seances.

Spiritualism in early 20th century San Francisco is explored here. The characters are engaging and I particularly liked the young, disturbed Evie May whose character was mercurial and as mysterious as the unknown stalker of the heroine, Annie Fuller. Highly recommended.

The only reason I gave this a 1 start rating is because a friend of mine got it for her Kindle for free. And B&N want us to pay $12.81.Tells me a lot about B&N,wish I had gotten a Kindle instead of a NookColor!
