Unexpected Eden

Unexpected Eden

by Rhenna Morgan

Eden, #1

Paradise, love and power...and a prophecy with a price.

Most people believe Eden no longer exists. Lexi Merrill's about to learn they're wrong. A hard-working bartender with a self-sufficient backbone and a wary nature, she knows pickup lines like a second language. So, when Eryx Shantos barges into her world with too-smooth words and a body to back it up, she locks up her libido and vows to keep her distance.

Eryx has other ideas. As king of the Myren race, Eryx is duty-bound to enforce the laws preventing exposure of their existence to humans. Yet The Fates have led him through his dreams to Lexi, a temptation he doesn't want to resist. The question is, is she Myren, or human - which makes her forbidden fruit?

When Eryx's nemesis tags Lexi as his next target, Eryx insists on taking her home where he can keep her safe. Lexi had no idea "home" would mean the one-and-only land of creation...or that she'd trigger a prophecy that could doom her newfound race.

The story of Alexis (Lexi) and Eryx. When we begin the story, Lexi is a bartender in a busy bar. She spots the hottest man around and makes a hilarious move, hitting her head on the counter. (I inserted my klutziness in at this point) Her boss trades her locations so she has to take the side of the bar with the hot man. Turns out, Eryx slipped the boss a $100 bill in order to speak to Lexi. Though she wants to jump over the bar and see what Eryx's body has to offer, she keeps herself calm and decides he may be a little crazy from his talk. Eryx will not give up. As it turns out, Lexi has been walking through his dreams for years. Too bad she has lived on the 'human side' (Evad), while he has lived in Eden. An otherworldly fight ends in Lexi stepping through the portal with him to Eden. Wow, this book was amazing! The author drew me into the story from page one. She paints a beautiful, descriptive picture of everything. It felt as though I was in the room with the characters! I very much enjoyed the love story between Eryx and Lexi. Sweet, yet hot! The secondary characters were important to the story, while not taking over from the main characters. I would say my favorite was Ludan - Eryx protector/guard. Snarky, but sweet and fiercely loyal. Maxis, the evil plotter, was a great foe without being a cliché. The author set up nicely for the next book in the series! I can't wait! Romance Readers received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Half way through the book.... bored me. Glad it was only $0.99. Found it to be a slow read and a lot of bouncing around different characters.

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Rhenna Morgan. Lexi has always felt like there was something more for her but she could never imagine it would come with a sexy man named Eryx. Eryx has been looking for Lexi for the past 10 years and now that he has her in his world keeping her safe in harder to do then he thought it would be. This is definitely a book that I could not put down. The characters were great and their interaction is what made the book so worth wild. This is for any paranormal romance book lover. This book has romance, betrayal, action all rolled into the story lines.

I would have loved more background on Eden and the powers Lexi developed, but I was happy to finish this book anyway. I wish there were more stories in the series so I could binge read about this world.

This book was a great interesting read. There is a bit of the paranormal, romance, danger, and more. Alexis is a girl just trying to survive she keeps to herself and has never really felt like she belongs. Eryx is from a place called Eden (as in the Eden, you know with the garden). He has been dreaming of Lexi for 10 years and has finally found her. Know he just has to convince her that is really from Eden as well as a Myren. Then he has to get her to come back to Eden with him; shouldn’t be too hard. Eryx is the King of his people and he believes that Lexi is his mate. It is against their law to bring a human to Eden or let them know of Myren existence. He is going to have to do both with Lexi. He can’t risk leaving her after they are attack by his greatest enemy, Maxis. Will he be able to convince Lexi of her true heritage and get her to agree to be his mate? His enemies have plans of their own and won’t hesitate to do want they need to, to get what they want. Lexi is faced with a huge decision go with Eryx and maybe find what she has been missing or stay. Lexi doesn’t know why exactly but she finds herself trusting Eyrx. Lexi is faced with many new things in this book. Eyrx doesn’t want to overwhelm her but at the same time is afraid of keeping things from her and making her want to leave because of that. Lexi finds herself quickly adapting to certain aspects and having trouble with self-doubt in other areas. The characters in this book are all awesome. They each bring something different and I can’t wait to read more about them. I was drawn to this world of Eden and its people. I must confess supernatural books are my favorite. The whole mystical, magical world calls to me. I am excited to see what happens in the next book in the series. This is the first book I have read by Rhenna Morgan and thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book! The characters were rich and continued to grow and evolve throughout the book. I loved both the passion and action that it contained. There was also a great set-up for book two. I NEED it now so I can see what happens. It was truly lovely how Eryx never gave up searching for Lexi. I can't wait to see where the next book takes them.

Unexpected Eden is book one in the Eden series by Rhenna Morgan. This is a fantasy romance and a great one at that. Lots of interesting reading that will keep you intrigued and turning the page till the end. The story takes place in Eden, who would not want that ? So with that said you will have the GOOD and the BAD parts of Eden as well as characters in the story. Lots of Romance, suspense, and mystical entertainment.

Unexpected Eden is the first story an exhilarating new paranormal series by Rhenna Morgan that promises to deliver many hours of entertaining reading. I loved the plot and world building presented by the author, with a cast of captivating, likeable and intriguing characters who provided witty, humorous and engaging dialogue. While there are many paranormal romance series around today; Eden has the potential to become a best seller based on the original content and quality and flow of the author’s writing style. I’m anxiously looking forward to book two and the travelling to Eden again!

Utterly unexpected and highly engaging are the best words I have for this fantasy romance. Rhenna Morgan created a lovely world and populated it with characters that are intriguing and feel connected, the heat fairly steams off of them.  A dual-species tale where Lexi, the heroine is a bartender with few friends and never quite feeling like she ‘fit in’.   She’s actually quite  intriguing on introduction, even her manner is quite engaging.   Eryx is a Myren, a supernatural race left in Eden after humans were banished. He’s had Lexi on his mind for years, and despite all of the  rules and regulations, he is determined to make her his.  Of course, he has a horrible pick up line that Lexi instantly fobs off thinking ‘yet another nob”, but he is determined and very convincing, if a bit heavy-handed in the cheese department.  Taking Lexi to Myren, and keeping her there safe will be the most difficult task of his life, and with a villain working to seize power and this  prophecy that Lexi seems destined to fulfill and the story just races forward, bringing action, adventure and then some much awaited heat.  Secondary characters are really well developed, giving them a sense of depth and breadth that is as welcome as it was surprising.   The struggles that Lexi has with all she is learning, and Eryx’s determination to keep her safe and his, in between their wonderful banter and bickering the attraction is a palpable heat.  This first in the series was a wonderful change from my regular fare of contemporary and  historical romances, and I can’t wait for the next book.  I will say that there is a significant amount of “head hopping’ between the good and bad side, it takes some getting used to at first, and may be off-putting to some.  But be patient, it soon starts to fall into place and enrich your understanding of the story as it progresses.   I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

What I Thought: This is such a great book! If you, like me, are a lover of fantasy and are keen to read a little romance as well, then this is perfect.  The book is so well written. The theme of the book is one that is realistic enough that it is easy to get caught up in the story and almost believe that it is real. It is definitely one that you feel like it could actually happen. There are all the main points: a girl who needs a life she can enjoy, a man looking for his other half, friends and family to surround you, a horrible man who tries to ruin everything and, of course, your soon to be man is (sort-of) royalty.  I love that the beginning started with a woman who was content, but always wanted something more in her life. She had written off men and wasn't interested in even trying. She knew it would always end in heartache, but soon she is shown that is completely wrong and so much more. It was great to see her find out that some people are honest and can be trusted.  I was very drawn in to the romance between the two main characters. The amount of passion they felt was so strong it was almost unbearable, but in such a good way. It's the kind of passion we always dream of feeling and hope it's possible to find one day. The kind where a simple touch send jolts through your body.  I also thought it was important that there was a real fantasy point to the story, not just a bit of magic. They were actually caught up in the beginning of a great turmoil and it would take everyone and all their skills to keep Eden intact. It really brought out the fantasy element and that's what did it for me. I loved the romance, it was beautifully written, but having an excellent fantasy story alongside it was the icing on the cake.  Overall, the characters were excellent. The pace was great. I loved the fantasy nature and the supporting theme from the baddie, and subsequent action he caused. This book was excellent. I really enjoyed every page and feel that it is a book most fantasy, romance readers would love.
