Unfinished Business is the first book in the Angela Panther series by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. Angela Panther’s mother just passed away. She is married to Jake and has two children: Emily and Josh. Emily is a typical teenager (bad attitude and pain in the neck). Josh is ten years old and a sweetie. Angela is thinking about her mother when there she is in front of her. Evidently Angela could see spirits as a child and for some unknown reason, it lay dormant until her mother came back. Her mother came back to see if Angela could see her and to tell her about her gift. Angela does not see it as a gift, but a curse. Angela has a great friend named Mel. Mel provides great comic relief and is also a wonderful friend to Angela. They enjoy coffee, wine, and a love of cupcakes. Angela’s mother, Fran is not the only ghost around. Angela can see other spirits and they need help. They have unfinished business and want Angela to assist them. Is Angela going to embrace her gift or ignore it? Angela has enough on her plate with her daughter acting out, her father is ill, seeing spirits, and now Josh! Josh mentioned seeing Grandma! Does Josh have the gift as well? Angela just might need another bottle of wine and some more cupcakes to get through the summer. Unfinished Business is a cute story, but a little over the top. There is a lot of foul language and sexual references in the book. The humor is sometimes cute and makes me laugh (my mother believes I do not have a sense of humor). I especially enjoined the humor about menopause (the comments were right on the money). I give Unfinished Business 3 out of 5 stars. I liked and enjoyed the book, but did not love it (it was lacking something).

This book was just ok, but I think that's because it's the first book in a new series and begins with the death of a very important character. Despite beginning with death, it manages to be humorous and engaging. While this book is just ok, you'll want to read it so you can truly enjoy the next book in the series. Book 2, Unbreakable Bonds is fantastic and you'll enjoy it even more if you've read this one first.

3.5 stars Angela had everything a person could want. A loving husband, kids, a house. Then her mother died and Angela started seeing her ghost. At first she thought she was going crazy. Then she realized she wasn’t. She is just beginning to get used to seeing her mother’s ghost and then begins to see other ghosts and they want her to help them. Angela isn’t sure she wants this gift let alone to help the ghosts she sees. Her mother tells her the reason came back was to help her, but she can’t tell her much. There are rules her mother has to follow about what she can and can’t tell Angela. This really frustrates Angela. Angela’s husband and best friend Mel are there to listen to her and help her. Her friend takes her to a physic that turns out to be able to help Angela a lot. Linda, the physic, helps Angela by teaching her to meditate, saying that it’s okay that Angela doesn’t like her gift, among other things. Sometimes Angela thinks that Linda is the only one who can understand her. Will Angela ever get used to her new gift? Will Angela begin to want to help the ghosts she comes in contact with? I liked this book although for me it was a little slow. I know that a lot things had to be explained in this book and that’s why it felt slow to me. It was still a good book. Once Angela began to come to terms with her gift the book picked up. This book was funny. Between her mother’s ghost and her teenage daughter funny things were happening all over the place. The friendship between Mel and Angela is great. They are always there for each other. They know just what to say to each other no matter the situation. Angela was worried that her husband wouldn’t believe her or think she was going nuts. She was nervous at first, but he was there for her. He even encouraged her. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Awesome Book, Great Series!!! This book was AWESOME! I could not put this book down and was hooked from the first chapter.  Angela is a happily married stay at home mom and has the most awesome best friend. Angela’s mother dies and all of a sudden her mother’s ghost appears. At first Angela thinks she is imaging seeing the ghost, then believes she is dreaming, that is until her mother starts giving her a hard time and her son states that he can also see his grandmother’s ghost. Angela soon learns that her mother’s ghost isn’t the only ghost she sees. The ghosts that find her want her to speak to their family members before they can move on. Angela is having a hard time handling her new gift. This book made me think about the loved ones that I have lost like my grandfather, and I wish that I could talk to him again like Angela does her mom. I know that if I could talk to my grandpa again, he would probably give me a hard time like Angela’s mom does her. There were so many laugh out loud moments between Angela, her mom, and best friend. If you love a down to earth book, then you have to read this book and series! A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I was given this book from author Carolyn Riddle Aspenson for an honest review. This is the first time I have read a book by the author and I found this book to be more then  just a romance book. Angela Panther had just lost her mother and had fallen asleep on the hospice bed when she was woken up by something strange, her mothers voice. She thinks she is going crazy but now she has to come to terms with a secret that her mother hide from her since she was a little girl and it effects her future. This book is very well written and there is great interaction in the characters and you can feel the emotions from them all almost like you are part of this big family.  The flow of the story is awesome from start to finish. This was a wonderful read and I would tell any romance book lover about this book. You might need a tissue or 2 but you will also have some laughs as well.
