Unleash the Night (Dark-Hunter Series #8) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

It's a predator eat predator world for the Were-Hunters. Danger haunts any given day. There is no one to trust. No one to love. Not if they want to live…

An orphan with no clan that will claim him, Wren Tigarian grew to adulthood under the close scrutiny and mistrust of those around him. A forbidden blend of two animals—snow leopard and white tiger—Wren has never listened to anyone when there was something he wanted. Now he wants Marguerite.

Marguerite D'Aubert Goudeau is the daughter of a prominent U.S. Senator who hates the socialite life she's forced to live. Like her mother before her, she has strong Cajun roots that her father doesn't understand. Still, she has no choice but to try and conform to a world where she feels like an outsider. But the world of rich and powerful humans is never to meet the world of the Were-Hunters who exist side by side with them, unseen, unknown, undetected. To break this law is to call down a wrath of the highest order.

In order to have Marguerite, Wren must fight not just the humans who will never accept his animal nature, but the Were-Hunters who want him dead for endangering their world. It's a race against time and magic without boundary that could cost Marguerite and Wren not just their lives, but their very souls…

Sherrilyn Kenyon takes a break with the Dark-Hunters with Unleash the Night, a Were-Hunter novel. The central plot revolves around a hybird leopard and tiger Katagari named Wren. He is a quiet, mysterious recluse who works as a busboy at Sanctuary. As he gets involved with a human woman, Maggie, who happens to be a Senator's daughter, some of the Katagaria believe he's succumbing to madness and was the one responsible for his parents' death years ago. The matter is then turned over to the Omergion, the ruling council for the Weres, while Savitar serves as the impartial mediator. It basically becomes a witch hunt while Wren and Maggie try to find a way to prove his innocence. While there was no trace of Acheron besides his name being said in passing, I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a little bit more like a regular contemporary romance to me for a good part of it. Who can resist the classic story of the mysterious boy from the wrong side of the tracks and rich girl who feels trapped? The way Maggie was able to transform Wren was a lot of fun to read. From him fixing up his appearance to him just feeling human and belonging. It was all around a lovely romance. I think besides the intense relationship between Wren and Maggie, I thought the time traveling element in the second half was fantastic! It reminded me a little of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, LOL. The twists and reveals were clever enough to catch me off guard. I was not expecting some of the outcomes. Nick gives them a special gift, courtesy of Savitar, since both were friends of him in his other life. It's yet another tease but I'm glad that at least we got a glimpse of how he's doing.

ThIs is a were-hunter novel. Wren Tigerian is an orphaned tigard. It seems like everyone is trying to kill him. His uncle and cousin want him dead so that they can take over the company his father started. Other weres want him dead because he's a blended breed and the Omegrion Council has issued a death order. There is one dark-hunter in this novel, Jean-Luc a pirate. Any additional information would contain spoilers so I will stop here. Sherrilyn Kenyon continues to write novels that keep you entranced from the first page to the last. If you loved Vane and Bride Kattalakis you will also love Wren and Maggie who are quintessential star crossed lovers. Even the Fates don't want them together. Great story. Lots of action, drama, mystery and struggle. Buy it, it's worth the money!

I must first off say that this book is my favorite book. Even though this is number 10 and there are plenty of other books out there, I must say this one takes the cake.  Wren is hated by family, feared by others, scared by woman. Snow Leopard and White Tiger and can take form at will he feels like he is an abomination that should never have been born. Works at Solitude just to have a place to stay but still can get into trouble just looking at someone. And that's how he met Maggie. Maggie is the daughter of a Senator and when she lays eyes on Wren, something inside her moves that has never moved before. She feels this connection to Wren and when she gets sucked into his world and feels that she has to stand up for him. Watching these two grow is something else. Really makes you feel for the underdog you know?

I enjoyed this installment of the DH series. Wren has been a character that I have seen from time to time in the other books that interested me. He was unique and interesting, and his book didn't disappoint. Maggie is exactly what Wren needed and their adventure was entertaining and never boring. The ending was perfect.
