What happens when a single mom’s four-year-old daughter falls in love with Mr. Right and she doesn’t?
Maggie Tyson’s rule: no bad boys. Her incarcerated ex-husband broke her of that attraction. Needing to escape his threats and the scrutiny of the people in her hometown, Maggie relocates to New York City. Determined to not make the same mistakes, she has a mile-long list of dos and don’ts. Unfortunately, her daughter, Cecily, doesn’t like to follow them. When Cecily wanders away from her and right into Rick Stone’s office, Maggie knows he’s the exact type she’s been trying to avoid. Can she resist him or will she succumb to his willful charm?
Rick Stone’s rule: bed them don’t wed them. Running a multibillion dollar business doesn’t leave him with much time to do anything else, particularly with an overbearing grandfather breathing down his neck. But when a man works hard, he needs to play even harder. Voted America’s most eligible bachelor, Rick doesn’t have any problems getting women into his bed—except one.
Two auburn beauties stumble into his life.
One will break his heart.
The other—heal it.
Will he love or leave them?

This is my first book by C.C. and it had me from page #1 an can I just say first and for most I think l author should find out who CC uses a an editor because I didn't find one single mispelled word or wrong name ued in place of someone elses or any (no offence) British slang words used instead of Elglish that I had no idea what they meant. Lol. ANYWAY, This story line was great. I fell in love with all the characters except Julia and Horatio until the end then I had a change of heart about Horatio. I tjink Rick fell in love with Cece and Maggie from day one. Cece is a little tiny spitire and she had me smiling throughout the entire book. Rick went from mister one night stand to the man of my dreams fom the minute he met Cece. Maggie is beautiful, smart a wonderful cook and a loving protective mother, sister and friend. Even though she tries to deny herself happily ever after with
Maggie is a single mother that has been through a rough time because of her ex. She is focused on her daughter, Cece, her new job and her culinary classes. She doesn't need the complications a new man, especially a bad boy, can bring to her life. But she didn't expected to meet Rick. Rick is the CEO of the business founded by his father. He is focused on his job and wants to keep the promise he made to his father. He doesn't have time and doesn't want a serious relationship, only having one night stands. But he didn't expected to meet Maggie or Cece. Unlikely Allies is a great book with a sweet, funny and emotional story. I loved that the story was told from Maggie's and Rick's POV. My favorite scene was when Cece and Rick met. It was very sweet and funny. An I really loved the epilogue. Unlikely Allies has great characters and you can't help but cheer for them. Maggie has been through a rough time but she never gave up on her dreams. She is very caring and kind, but also very strong. She loves her family deeply, especially her daughter. She is a great mom. I liked Rick a lot and how once he realized his feelings for Maggie he never gave up. And I loved how he interacted with Cece. He is so sweet! At first he seems to be a bad boy, with his black book and hook ups, but Rick is a a great guy that is torn between the promise he made to his father and his feelings for Maggie and Cece. I loved how sweet Cece was and how she was able to touch the heart of everyone she met. This is the first book written by C.C. Koen that I've read and it did not disappoint. Although it is a lengthy read, Unlikely Allies is a captivating book with very sweet and funy scenes and great characters. Would love to read Kat's and Cece's story!
Resistant Hearts are bound by a Charismatic Kiddo ** Provided by Author via Promotion in Exchange for an Honest Review. ** -- MY THOUGHTS > Judging a Book by it's Cover: Cute. Man walking along the beach with a young girl on his shoulders. Soft, subdued colors. Nothing too bold to catch the eye. Synopsis sounds enjoyable. Looking Deeper: Third person alternating POVs with no truly clear distinction. Each chapter is cutely labeled with a "rule". Dare I say that Cece is the star of this book? She steals every scene she's in and is so adorable in doing so. Rick / Max is a fairly solid lead male with conflicting priorities and confused wants versus needs. Maggie is fighting hard to become more independent as a single mom while completing culinary school and working a new job in a new city all while being threatened by her ex-husband. Together, the lead characters begin to develop a love / hate relationship at a snail's pace; however, Cece demands his love and adoration from the get-go - while giving it freely and in full force and he's unwittingly powerless against her exuberant charms. There are a handful of key secondary characters that help to bolster the plot with a fuller quality. The interaction and dialogue usually feels natural, with only a few slightly awkward areas. Because Rick and Maggie continue to fight their attraction to one another and miss a lot of opportunities to openly communicate by holding too tight to reservations, the plot delivery leaves the flow feeling a bit sluggish even though the writing style is good. There are many self-imposed conflicts and only a few led by outside forces. The conflicts are all eventually resolved with minimal predictability. The conclusion is clean and solid. The story also includes Bonus Material that could be considered an extended epilogue that spans over 15 years, providing glimpses into the futures of Cece, Rick and Maggie. The sex content is virtually non-existent, only getting to any real sexual encounter at approximately ninety percent. ---------------------------------------------------------- Heat Level: 3 ~ Score: 4.0 ~ Stars: 4 ----------------------------------------------------------
4 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, suspense, bribery, and heartbreak. This is Maggie and Rick (Max)’s story. Max meets Maggie’s daughter first. She is always around. Her mother is another story she is always running away from Max. Maggie has reasons to run. Her ex is threating her and never loved their daughter how could Max? The more people warn her to stay away from the Max and madder she gets. But can she really lose everything to be near him? Max can’t understand Maggie. She wanted him but she has been acting weird. Will he be able to figure it out before it’s too late? When Maggie’s past comes for her will she be able to count on Max’s help or has she finally pushed him far far away? When the whole truth comes out about the bribery how will that effect Max and Maggie? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.
