Overview

When Cupid gets stupid...
It isn’t every day a sexy demigod throws a pissed-off Cupid onto psychologist Matilda Schmidt’s couch and informs her the fate of the world depends on her ability to get him off his diapered ass and back to helping people fall in love.

Just when Matilda convinces herself she’s not hallucinating, in walks a Vegas hit man with a big gun and a bigger threat: pay back the million dollars she owes a notorious casino mogul, or wind up as fish food in Lake Mead.

Rocketing across country with a gun to her head, Matilda has a dysfunctional love-god in her laptop bag, a million dollar debt she has no knowledge of, and must convince the seductive hit man he’s snatched the wrong woman before he convinces her he might be the right man—for a night.

Can Matilda stay alive long enough to keep love from becoming history?

I like gravy. This has nothing to do with the rest of my bio, but I thought you ought to know. About the writing thing... I wrote my first play when I was six and made my brothers perform it for my parents. I charged gum wrappers for admission (a steal, in my opinion, considering I had handed out the gum wrappers ahead of time). While I seriously doubt you'll be seeing any of my formative work on Broadway anytime soon, I can credit these early experiments with the first of many important lessons I learned about writing: no matter how brilliant your manuscript is, some kid can go streaking butt-ass nekkid across the living room, and totally undermine your vision. Everyone watches the naked kid because running across the living room with your cheeks flapping in the breeze is friggin' hilarious. Cue the lightbulb moment. People like funny stuff! I never quite gave up on the writing thing, even as I tried my hand at being a dusty academic turned Executive Assistant (they paid me to nag! How cool is that?), but in those quiet moments when expense reports had been filed and to-do items checked off, the funny people in my head kept talking to me. Yes, I know they have medication for that. It's called vodka. Since they discourage drinking at work, I started writing instead. What came out was an amalgamation (vocabulary!) of all the things I love: funny stuff, art, psychology, food, people, and paranormal critters! Et voila! The Case Files of Dr. Matilda Schmidt, Paranormal Psychologist were born. When I'm not sitting in my office watching cat videos and pretending to write, I like cooking, knitting (badly), and reading anything that makes me laugh (like my bank statements). I live in Colorado with my brilliant husband and three surly cats.

Unlovable by Cynthia St. Aubin was a quick and fun read. I laughed out loud many times while reading this fast paced book. Dr. Matilda Schmidt, Crixus, Cupid and Liam were characters that stepped off the pages into my imagination. Although it's a novella it didn't lack anything. The characters were slowly developed so that I felt like I got to know them and their own unique quirkiness as they traveled to Las Vegas. If you like a story with humor, mystery and some paranormal elements, then this is a book you will enjoy. There is a small cliff hanger at the end of this book but not enough to make me go "ugh" because this story is complete within itself. I was given an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Unlovable by Cynthia St. Aubin is a fun read. The characters are unbelievably hilarious. Don't let the size fool you, there are so many twists in this rollercoaster. Just hold on and enjoy the ride.

I loved this book! Dr. Matilda Schmidt is as straight laced as they come...until she is kidnapped by a Vegas hitman...A hot hitman! She also has a hot demigod after her as well. Throw in Cupid and a casino boss with a fat head and you have a great story. It is a quick read, but I loved it and bought the second one immediately!
