I really wanted Maggie to get the better of those two jerks. I love stories with domination but they didn't talk to her like an adult. They gave her no choices. For me this book described abuse. I think it idealizes the fantasy a rapist or abuser has about their victims enjoying being forced to do demeaning or traumatizing sexual acts Remember that BDSM has rules. No is when a safe word is said. Its about consent. She didn't give hers.

This book was very well written, there were no plot gaps, and the erotic scenes were steamy as expected from Lana Dare! It was over 800 pages, so well worth the money! it is a must read if you love cowboys, strong women, and steamy sex!

I read the other Desire, Oklahoma books and liked them. Which is why I bought this one. But I do not like this story at all. Eb and Jeremiah are not likeable characters in any way. They continually cross over to the arrogant jerk category. They have absolutely no concern or respect for Maggie, all they care about is her following their rules blindly, no questions asked. I keep reading it hoping that there will be some kind of change in their attitudes, but so far no luck. I'm on page 635 and honestly don't know if I'll finish it. The more I read, the more I'm disgusted with their actions and attitudes. Usually I like Alpha male type stories, but they border on abusive. From the first moment when she sees them after 5 years away from each other they do nothing but order her around and bully her. Two days after her father's funeral, and they never comfort or consol her, nothing. All they care about is what they want from her and what they want to do to her and with her. So far the book has just been about what they want, Maggie's wants and needs have no value or importance to them. I was more interested in the relationship of Hayes, Wyatt and Savanah than with the main characters. If I finish the book, it will only be to see if they make a reappearance. At least Hayes and Wyatt treat Savanah like a person and not property. People treat their dogs better and with more concern than Eb & Jeremiah treat Maggie. This is the only Leah Brooke story that I felt was a waste of time and money.

I've read several of Leah Brooke's stories, and I always thought the women in the stories were painted in a weak willed way. However, that became more glaring in this story. Eb and Jeremiah had no respect for Maggie and it made finishing the book frustrating. The only thing that happens in this story is Maggie wants to do something or make up her mind about something and she gets punished for it. I don't understand how so many people gave this story good reviews considering the way sexual dominance is just used as a cover up for chauvinism and complete control. It makes me uncomfortable that people seem to ignore that because they get off on the sex scenes.

Eb and Jeremiah get turned on by abusing women. Maggie should have put her foot down and refused to marry them regardless of their threats! It is sick to hurt a person because "you love them". That is what all domestic abusers say.

I have read the rest of the Desire series, and have enjoyed them. I thought this might be the best written yet. This story was engrossing and steamy. I thought Dare did a very good job at creating individual characters with distinct personalities. Unlike some of her other books- i will remember the names of all the heroes and which personality goes with which name. The problem is I really didn't like one of the heroes. Eb is a more jerk than dominant. Neither of the heroes are particularly plugged into their new wife, but Eb take the prize for complete disconnect. I find the need for him to constantly compare Ally to livestock, especially after they make love, disturbing. I found the jealousy between EB and Jeremiah different, interesting and refreshing. It was also warranted.. as I was rooting for Ally to dump Eb and run off with Jeremiah. Then Eb should marry a horse, as women are completely out of his wheel house! ( except for the sex part) So Eb does soften up a little towards the end- But for me it was too little too late!
