A sensitive wolf shifter and a vicious vampire challenge history, greed, and the very fabric of their beings in order to stay together until forever comes.

Plagued by pain and weakness all his life, Ethan Abbatt is a wolf shifter who can't shift. Hoping to find an honorable death by joining his pack mates in a vampire attack, Ethan instead learns two things: draining his blood releases his pain and his wolf, and he has a true mate - a vampire named Miguel.

Over four centuries old, strong, powerful, and vicious, Miguel Rodriguez walks through life as a shadow, without happiness or affection. When a young shifter tells Miguel they're true mates, destined to be together, Miguel sends him away. But Ethan is persistent and being together comes so naturally that Miguel can't resist for long. The challenge is keeping themselves alive so they can stay by each other's side until forever comes.

This was a great follow up to "Wake Me Up Inside." It was written after that novel, but actually takes place before the time frame in the other book. They can be read in either order. As a sequel, it explains how much of the events in the first book came to be. As a prequel, it foreshadows what's to come. This follows the journey of a weak shifter who doesn't fit in with his pack and a centuries old vampire who has lived lifetimes cold and alone. Together they make each other whole and strong because they were made to be true mates to each other. Very sweet and passionate. 400 pgs.

This book is about Ethan and Miguel, who we have already met or heard mention of in the other two books. Ethan is only young but Miguel is already over four hundred years old. Ethan is used to being the runt of the pack, weak and ineffective. Miguel is a cold-blooded, cold-hearted killer who has no qualms about hurting those in his 'care'. This book is about how opposites attract and how, if it's your true mate, then anything is possible. Of course, you get your idiots (Ralph) and those who don't believe, but in the course of any book of Cardeno C, you know that true love will win! Very well written with a smooth story and pace, I actually wish that I'd read this one first as I thought it gave a good history to the different packs and attitudes. From this book, I can see how Zev had his work cut out for him in Wake Me Up Inside. Another excellent story that I can definitely recommend. I received this book from WLK Book Promotions in return for a fair and honest review. Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

Wow! This book could not have been any different from the first in the series. So different, in fact, that I had to keep reminding myself they were the same author. This is the love story of Ethan and Miguel, a shifter and a vampire. Just like in many vamp/shifter stories, they are deadly enemies and neither side can understand the attraction for the other. What made this story so unbelievably charming and kept me turning the page was the first person point-of-view from Ethan. Ethan was from the backwoods, well in his pack, but by his language there was no doubt he lived in the backwoods of the US South. Sometimes when an author uses an accent in conversation, it can get annoying. Not here. With everything told from Ethan, the flavor was in his language, whether he was speaking or thinking. There was so much that was innocent about the 20-year-old shifter, a man considered a ‘runt’ by his pack because he was small and had never shifted before. He saw the world in a very open way. True, he still held some of the prejudices of his pack, but he always tried to make the best of it. I loved the way he grasped onto his true mate and wouldn’t let go, not even when Miguel tried to send him away. Stalwartly true, Ethan just kept coming back. I don’t want to give anything away, but their relationship is incredibly equal. They need each other completely and utterly. Whereas the first story in the series was filled with angst and difficult to get through, this one was filled with humor and fun and I enjoyed it immensely. I adored Ethan and Miguel, their choice to stick together, and also those who chose to stick with them. The ending was a nice tie-in with the first book as technically book 2 takes place before book 1. Probably the only drab side of the story were the sex scenes. I do find Cardeno’s sex scenes lackluster. So definitely 4 stars. Reviewed by a-nony-mouse for Crystal’s Many Reviewers *Copy provided for review*

Another beautiful story from Cardeno C. Having met Miguel and Ethan in Wake Me Up Inside, I was excited to read their story and learn how they became mates, especially considering the animosity that shifters have for vampires in this series. Until Forever Comes did not disappoint as the author weaves a romance that is distinctly different than any I've ever read before. The book opens with Ethan facing death via suicide by vampire as he can no longer bear his painful existence, both physically and emotionally. Much to his disappointment, he wakes the next morning still alive, but having finally shifted – about a decade later than he should have. His relief at the situation is short-lived and he soon seeks out Miguel, the vampire who spared his life, and who seems to be the star of some rather erotic dreams. It turns out that Ethan isn't the only one feeling the pull and when Miguel finally responds to the draw between them it is hot. But as with other books I have read by Cardeno C., it is the romance and building of the relationship between Ethan and Miguel that makes this such an enjoyable read. As someone who grew up in a small rural town, I have to say that the author writes redneck well. There were so many phrases used that I grew up hearing. Even more impressive is that Miguel's voice was distinctly different than Ethan's and his pack members and I never noticed a slip in the characters' language. I find that with each of the author's books I read, I become more and more of a fan and Until Forever Comes is no exception. I'm looking forward to starting the next book in the series momentarily.  I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.  Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!

A paranormal LGBT novel Until Forever Comes, by Cardeno C, is the second installment in the Mates Series. I have not yet read Wake Me Up Inside, but have been told that reading this book first is better, since it is set chronologically before the first book. Having read Cardeno’s Home and Family series, I was looking forward to reading more of her work. The book starts slow, until about chapter 8, 30% into the book, when I could get into the groove of the story. The background information about Ethan and the reasons he goes to town with his friends and how he is treated by everyone in his pack, other than his family, is cursory. But once Miguel accepts Ethan, the story seems to flow along. What is most interesting about this novel is the description of the relationship between shifters and vampires. In most paranormal novels, it is the vampires that are portrayed and the ones feeling superior to humans. In this story/series, however, Cardeno C. portrays the shifters as the elitist and the vampires as the ones trying to assimilate into human society. What I also enjoyed is that Cardeno C. portrays Ethan as a wolf with a host of issues, but the one who, according to his sister, would save them all. My favorite part of the story is the interaction between Miguel and Katherine. I see her as a petulant, inquisitive child, even though she is well over 300 years old. Even though one of the lead characters in this paranormal LGBT novel is a Latin man, none of the story line actually focuses on that. The references to Miguel’s heritage are minor. It is almost as if the fact that Miguel is of Latin descent is ancillary. I have just begun reading the first installment in the series and will definitely continue to read Cardeno C’s work. -Reviewed by Selina

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and I loved this one even more. Very engaging characters - I could certainly read a lot more about them!! Overall, I found the story to be intriguing, entertaining and intertwined in a very unique way with the first book. I will definitely be adding more books from this author to my shelves!
