Until the Sun Falls from the Sky by Kristen Ashley

Leah Buchanan’s family has been in service to vampires for five centuries. Even so, Leah wants nothing to do with her family’s legacy. But when she’s summoned to her Selection by the Vampire Dominion, under familial pressure, she has no choice but to go.

Lucien has been living under the strict edicts of the Vampire Dominion for centuries but he’s tired of these ancient laws stripping away everything that is the essence of the vampire.

So he’s taking it back.

And this is because Lucien has been watching and waiting for decades for Leah to become available for a Selection and he will not be limited with what he can do with her. He will have her, all of her.

Therefore, Lucien is going to tame Leah, even if he gets hunted and killed for doing it.

What neither Leah nor Lucien expects is the strong bond that will form between them, connecting them on unprecedented levels for mortals or immortals. And what will grow between them means they will challenge their ways of life and their union will begin The Prophesies which makes them one of three couples who will save humanity… or die in the effort.

About the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

I needed a little reading break and as is my habit in these times of need I turned to Kristen Ashley. Until the Sun Falls from the Sky is a paranormal read about vampires. I've been in a huge paranormal mood lately and I loved her Fantasyland series so I decided to give this one a shot, even though I was still a little nervous. I mean Kristen Ashley and vampires? What won't this woman write? Overall Rating: 3.5 - 4 Stars - Kept telling myself “just one more chapter.” I don't know how to start this review I just want to start pouring out my thoughts, but they probably wouldn't come out in an understandable fashion. My thoughts and feelings were all over the place with this book. In the beginning I was enjoying it, then some stuff happens in the middle and I almost put this book down. I was so pissed off at our hero and quite frankly Kristen Ashley as well. Beware: There will be a rant involved at some point in this review. But by the end KA brought me back around and I left the story in a decent place. I'm still irritated by some of the earlier actions, but for the most part I was able to get over them. Okay, let's talk about our main characters. I didn't really like either of them, but our heroine, Leah was just something else. She is forty, FORTY and acted like she was 19. I would have found the story more believable; vampires and all, if her character would have been the age she acted. I just couldn't grasp that she was 40 and just now going through all of this, once it was explained I could accept it a little more, but her overall behavior was still just too much. And Lucian, our hero isn't much better. He's an old vampire with a mate at home. But don't worry it's okay because that's just the way it's done around here in the vampire world. eye roll. I was so mad at Lucian and not feeling the love from all his beginning actions, just because he's a vampire he doesn't have to be a grade five jerk. But then just as I was starting to get over some of his stuff and maybe, kind of starting to like him Lucian goes and just ticked me right off. Again even though things are explained I wasn't fully able to forgive him. I couldn't understand how a vampire who waited 20 years for this particular person would behave the way he did. But of course, as always, the guy gives her an orgasm and talked nice for a few sentences so everything is back to normal and the couple is all good again. Well I didn't get an orgasm, Lucian, so I'm not over it! What happened to our KA heroes who are all for the girl, those possessive and bossy but sweet men? Here comes the rant. I hate to say it but lately I have not enjoyed where most of these Kristen Ashley novels are going. It seems to me that every one includes the men sleeping around and/or some crazy ex and child custody. Why oh why does it always end up being the girl's fault. The last few KA's I've read all seem to have the guy doing something horrible and stupid, but it coming back on the girl. She was either too stubborn, cared too much, cared too little, or held out too long, it's always something that ends up coming back on her. Why can't the guy just fight for her regardless? I've been having these thoughts for the last few books I've read with this author and I think this book has finally pushed me over the edge. I'm no longer sure if Kristen Ashley is my go to author. It might be a case where when I need a break I'll just go back and read some of my favorite KA alphas when I need the fix. Trust me, it causes me physical pain to type that, but I don't know how many more books like this I can read. Now that my rant is over I will say that Lucian did end up redeeming himself some what for me. He turned out to be a pretty good alpha by the last page, but I wouldn't want to put myself through the angst that was Until the Sun Falls From the Sky again. Although, because I'm a glutton I'll probably read the rest of the series. If you love paranormal stuff with vampires and are already in love with Kristen Ashley then I say check out Until the Sun Falls from the Sky. If you're going to read it just because Kristen Ashley wrote it and you find yourself a little tired of some of these plot lines I'd suggest you skip this one.

The love was not apparent between Lucien and Leah. It fell short. Thankfully, I read With Everything I Am first and I enjoyed it immensely. If not, Until the Sun Falls from the Sky would have turned me off completely and I would have missed out. If you didn't like this one, try the 2nd book. You'll enjoy it.

The first book in 'The Three' series, Until the Sun Falls from the Sky was a fantastic read. Great storyline, which I'm looking forward to continuing in book 2. Strong, engaging characters. Lots of action - it is a real page turner. I love Kristen's books, especially the 'Dream Man' titles but I think this trilogy will be one of the best series to date!!! Even if you haven't read any of KA's other books, go grab yourself a copy of 'Until the Sun', you won't regret it........

Wonderful Vampire Romance! Lucian is the perfect Alpha/hot/sexy vampire and Leah is a strong-minded human. Leah is also a WOMAN, as in not a 19-24 year old young adult, which I loved because it was a nice change. If you like paranormal romance, you'll love this book. Can't wait for the next 2 books. :-) Kristen Ashley does it again!

Leah Buchanan’s family services vampires, with blood, however, Leah has decided she does not want to continue with this service. Unfortunately for Leah, she is selected, and soon learns she has no choices at all, including which vampire she will be chosen to service. Lucien is one of the most respected and powerful vampires in the Vampire Dominion, and he has decided things need to change, and he plans to use Leah to make it happen, and in doing so risks everything. The entire story is so captivating that I could not put this book down. Kristen Ashley is definitely one of my very favorite authors, as she is so talented. I have read ALL of her books. I suggest you get all three books in this series now, because once you start, you will NOT want to stop. The Three Series is one of my favorite series of all the books I have read!

Leah Buchanan comes from a long line of distinguished concubines. Her family had been the first to put their name to the Immortal and Mortal Agreement five hundred years ago. Wanting something else from life and not caring what other people thought, her ancestors had done what they had to do to guarantee themselves a certain amount of freedom. Freedom that included safety and comfort. Through the centuries, her family's service to vampires had made them legendary. The Buchanans had the highest Selections, the longest Arrangements. And Leah wants nothing to do with her family’s legacy, so she's spent years looking for something to keep her out of the concubine life. But when she’s summoned to her Selection by the Vampire Dominion, under strenuous familial pressure, she has no choice but to go. For twenty years, Lucien has been watching and waiting for Leah to become available for a Selection. Living under the strict edicts of the Vampire Dominion for centuries, he’s tired of the ancient laws stripping away everything that is the essence of the vampire. So he’s taking ... it ... back. There will be no barriers, no boundaries, and no laws that will tell him what he can do with Leah. Because Lucien intends to have her ... all of her. But what neither of them expects is the strong bond that will form between them, connecting them on unprecedented levels. Their relationship will challenge their ways of life, and their union will begin The Prophesies, making them one of three couples who will be known as The Sacred Triumvirate. For times are changing, war is nearly upon them. A war amongst all immortals allied with mortals who will fight against those who wish to rid the planet of their brethren who think differently than they do. And they will either save humanity … or die in the effort. “You love me. I love you. We’re connected. What we have is beautiful and that’s all it’ll ever be. For eternity. Until the end of days. Until the sun falls from the sky, all you and I will share is beauty.” Wow ... just, wow. An absolute rollercoaster of emotions throughout, with ANGER being on the forefront for more than half of this story, Until the Sun Falls From the Sky, is a complex, tantalizing, and strangely compelling read from start to finish. Like many of KA's heroines (something I've come to expect from her novels), Leah was somewhat juvenile, but in an amusing—given her predicament—way. What I hadn't expected was to hate, H. A. T. E.—HATE, Lucian. Halfway through this story I was tempted to throw my eReader across the room and give this book a 1-star review. But like all things KA, she works her literary magic and before I knew it I was once again riding this crazy-train to the very end. Shockingly, I enjoyed the ride and look forward to reading the next two books in the series!
