About the Author

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.
When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

5 Star Review of Until There Was Us (The Montgomery Brothers #7) by Samantha Chase Having listened to several of the Montgomery Brothers and their cousins’ books I was anxious to read Megan Montgomery’s story. When Megan met Alex Rebat at her cousins’ wedding she was living in New York. So what would the harm be if they had a little fun? Fast forward 2 years and she still can’t stop thinking about that night. When she takes a job at her cousin’s company she has every intention of avoiding Alex at all costs. Alex is determined to show Megan that fate has brought them back together and that life is about taking chances. Whenever I read or listen to a book in this series I get so involved in the Montgomery clan, to me I feel like I am coming home. Although book 7, it can easily be read as a stand alone although I would suggest you go and look at books 1 through 6 as they are just as entertaining as Until There Was Us. Megan has always struggled with the belief that she is not good enough and is always striving to do and be better. When Alex is rocked by an unexpected loss, tensions build. This is a well written story of second chances, coming to terms with the past, of love and family which I loved from start to finish and couldn’t put down.

PHENOMENAL READ!!! In my opinion, Samantha Chase’s Until There was Us and her Montgomery Brothers series ranks right there with Bella Andre’s Sullivan series, and Nora Robert’s Inn Boonsboro Series (another Montgomery series, by the way). This series are the books that hooked me to Samantha Chase and her phenomenal writing. Megan Montgomery and Alex Rebat…. Sigh. The steam factor, although implied, is sooo hot, at some points, I thought my ereader was going to catch fire. I love the strength, the unknown strength that Megan Montgomery has. The way she is determined to live up to and surpass the “Montgomery” name. I LOVED each and every character, welllll, maybe not EVERY one. I wanted to smack Megan’s father upside the head and tell him to get his head out of his a…. stop, PG, have to keep the PG. What he does to his own children. Sorry folks, not going to give anything away. You will need to read this wonderful book to find out what he does and did….. From reading this wonderful book, I can see the possibility of many more in the future. I cannot wait. I was gifted with a e-book copy of this book for my reading enjoyment and I cannot wait until it is release in the audio version so I can add it to my collection. Kudos Ms. Chase on another spectacular story/book. Thank you for reading my review. Now… YOU!!! Yes, you, the one reading my review. What are you waiting for? Go hit that one-click button. You will definitely enjoy this book!!!

They danced at a wedding. Ms. Chase brings us back to the large, boisterous Montgomery clan with a sweet tale set in Portland, Oregon. They welcome the reader with open arms and hearts. Megan Montgomery returned to her workaholic habits after her weekend with the sexy, smart friend of her cousin. Any relationship was not going to work. Her job was too demanding. And he lived on the other side of the country. But… Alex Rabat could not forget the cousin of his best friend. One weekend, a series of messages for a few months, and getting stood up on his one and only trip back to New York later, he had no interest in other girls. Then fate intervenes – or is it matchmaking relatives? When Megan moves to Oregon to work for her cousin she can’t avoid Alex. Sparks on tinder make a flame. The question-- is it a quick flash or a slow, steady burn?

Temporary ... to forever? With a new book in her ever-popular Montgomery Brothers series, Samantha Chase brings us Megan's story. It's a fun read with sexy characters, fun family connections and lots of sass! Workaholic Megan Montgomery isn't known for throwing caution to the wind and just living all that often, but she managed to do just that a couple of years ago with the sexy groomsman at her cousins wedding. She's been swamped with work ever since, but she hasn't ever forgotten the things he made her feel ... and it just so happens, she's moving to his neck of the woods! Physical therapist Alex Rebat adored his weekend with Megan and even tried to make a long-distance thing work between them for a short time afterwards, but he had to give up when it became obvious she just wasn't that into him. He's surprised to see her at her cousin's house when he stops by ... and even though he hasn't found anyone quite like her in the last two years, he's hesitant to trust her when she says she's changed.

The Montgomery's are at it again with their matchmaking ways... except now they are moving to the cousins. Megan met Alex almost two years ago at her cousin's wedding. They instantly had a connection but after a weekend together and a few months of communication... Megan blew it. The distance and her workaholic ways did nothing to help the situation out. Now two years later Megan has moved to Portland as the IT person for her cousin's branch of the family business. She's thrilled about it, except there's only one thing. Alex lives in Portland and she just knows that he hates her after she blew their last opportunity together. But when the two finally see each other again... the chemistry is still there, but now it's even more than it was the last time. The only problem is that Megan is still married to her job. But the attraction and pull towards Alex is more powerful than ever. Can she have her cake and eat it too? And will Alex be patient enough to wait for just a little longer until she figures it all out? I loved the push and pull between Alex and Megan. I can always get lost in a great book by Samantha and highly recommend this series!

This second-chance-at-love romance is teeming with delicious sexual tension... They’d gone walking through the garden that was lit with twinkly lights, and Alex had surprised her with a kiss. And that was the moment she knew she wasn’t going to her hotel alone. Until There Was Us is the seventh installment in Samantha Chase’s Montgomery Brothers series. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed other books I’ve read by Samantha – and impulsively decided to dive into this one without reading any of the prior books. Sadly, in hindsight, that wasn’t the best decision with this book because, while I enjoyed it, I feel that I would have liked it lots more if I’d had a prior connection to the characters. This is the second-chance-at-love story of workaholic computer whiz Megan Montgomery and sexy physical therapist Alex Rebat. Megan and Alex met and hooked up - which was totally out-of-character for Megan – at her cousin’s wedding. For three months, the two tried to keep the magic sizzling between them even though they lived on opposite sides of the country. However, when Megan stood Alex up when he’d flown three thousand miles to see her, all appeared to be over between them. As the story opens, in a game-changing move, Megan has accepted a job with her cousin which just happens to be located near Alex. Even though Megan refuses to admit it, the image of Alex and her tangled up together refuses to budge from her mind… and she held out hope of seeing him again. Unbeknownst to Megan, Alex can’t seem to move on either. I liked Alex from the start but it took me most of the book to warm up to Megan. Thankfully, she redeemed herself in the end as their wonderful and surprising HEA was happily in sight. Supporting characters played big parts in this tale – and there’s lots of cute baby and baby-in-waiting moments. Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from Until There Was Us: Alex whispered her name as he gently pressed his lips to hers. Oh… --- His name was a whispered plea before she said, “Promise to not let me leave tonight.” Lifting his head, Alex gave her a wicked smile. “Sweetheart, that was never going to be an option,” he said before he silenced her with a another kiss.” --- Alex stood and stretched. “You know it’s required that when you go on a beach vacation, you have to wear a bikini, right?” She came to her feet and considered him for a moment. “I did not know that. But I’m not sure that’s the right look on you.” Until There Was Us is teeming with delicious sexual tension. Unfortunately, it took me a bit to get into the story and the characters. Normally, I love, love, love Samantha’s books. Because of my experience, I’d recommend that this book not be read as a standalone. Even so, Until There was Us is a well-written contemporary romance. I hope to read this series from the first soon as I do want to catch the other characters’ stories.

This was a nice love story between two likable characters that are really good together and complement each other. They had their struggles as most couples do. Megan had some insecurities to work through and Alex was a very pulled together man that everybody loved but deep down he had some thing troubling him that he had never shared with anyone. I liked that they communicated, although Alex to give Megan a nudge a few times. Alex was generous and incredibly thoughtful and they just really clicked. The book did seem long because of some slow sections that were filled with some minutiae I didn’t need to know, but I’m glad I read it and would definitely recommend it. There were some love scenes all very well written and not overly detailed, if that’s a consideration for any reader. I didn’t realize initially that this was part of a series on the Montgomery family and now I’m anxious to read the books I missed and hopefully Christian (Megan's brother) gets a book.

As many of the reviews give a lot of the story, I would just like to say, if you love sweet second chance stories, then Alex and Megan's romance in "Until There was Us" is just the book you will want in your page turning hands. It is often said, the details is in the telling, and for me, Samantha Chase always tells a story that is engaging, tempting, and detailed to give that aha moment and a HEA for the reader. If this is your first read of the Montgomery Bros. books, it stands alone, and they each can be read in any order for complete enjoyment. Recommended for your library, I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me "Until There Was Us". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4..5 Stars!

Megan and Alex met at a wedding, hooked up, made promises that they didn't keep, and moved on with their lives. Well, they tried to move on but neither was very successful. Megan got a new job and moved to the same town Alex is in. She knew that they would run into each other since they had the same friends but wasn't sure how she would feel when she saw him. Alex was surprised when he walked into his friend's house and Megan, the girl he hasn't been able to get out of his head or heart, was there. I loved how they circled each other, were cordial, and how they didn't really know how to react to each other. Their being together again was not quick, easy, and relaxed. There was worry, frustration, and embarrassment before they could figure out how to be together. It was real, with feelings, with doubts, and wonderful. I loved how stand-up Alex was. He didn't just jump back into a relationship. He questioned Megan on what she wanted, expecting complete honesty. He was also there when she needed him but did his best to give her space so that there would be no regrets or quick decisions that would come back to haunt them. Alex also was great at pushing her from her comfort zone, pushing her to be outside, pushing her to change her habits, and pushing her to accept her feelings for him while not pushing her so hard that she ran from him. The Montgomery Brother's are wonderful. All so sweet, sexy, protective, and loving. Alex and Megan's story is the perfect addition to this series. It is wonderful that each book is its own complete story but you do get to catch up with the characters from the other books in this series. I believe that you can pick up any book in the series or pick them all up and read them in any order thoroughly enjoying them all.

This was my first foray into the Montgomery Brothers and I found the matchmaker grandparents highly amusing. Especially with the long game they had going for Alex and Megan. Until There Was Us is a sweet second chance romance. It starts with a "bang" and becomes something more... The feisty computer nerd and the physical therapist make a unique couple. It's not entirely a picnic. Some ups downs and crazed wild animals are present in the pages of this book. So watch out for hiding workaholics, a rabid bear like creature, and the great outdoors (totally said in a spooky voice over).

This book was not only a second chance romance, but also a story of a woman trying to discover who she wants to be and the man who helps her find her way there. I really enjoyed both characters and I loved watching Megan give herself permission to fall for Alex. Megan has spent her life at the office, always trying to prove herself to her father. This has left her little time for a social life – something that she feels she can’t afford to have if she is going to be taken seriously. When a new job opportunity arises and she decides to not only take a chance with a new position in a new state, but also to take a good look at her life and figure out what she wants, she knows she is making the right move. And knowing this is where Alex lives and she hasn’t been able to get him out of her head for the past two years…yeah, that may have been a bonus when it came to making her decision. I was a bit annoyed with Megan at first with the way she treated Alex. I get that the Montgomery family is an “in your face” group and sometimes, for your own sanity, it’s best to keep things quiet, and, that she didn’t end things well with Alex two years prior, but she was a bit cold and callous to Alex and it really didn’t sit well with me. I get that she was making some major changes in her life and needed to focus on one thing at a time, but she could’ve handled him and the situation better. What I did love though was Alex and the fact that he refused to give up on her and the hope he had that they might explore what could happen between them. He didn’t push her, but I loved that he spent so much time helping her figure out who she was and what she might want. And then for her to be able to support Alex when he needed it, well…I just loved the way these two came together – and how Megan finally understood that love doesn’t follow a timeline, but operates on its own schedule and looks different for everyone. One of the best things about a series is being able to have ongoing storylines and characters interwoven, and this book did a great job with that. From the matchmaking that has been going on, to the relationship between the cousins and the various members of the families, this book helped you catch up with some previous couples and also laid the groundwork for future stories in the series. Overall this was a great read that had a good dose of the feels, just a little bit of angst, and whole lot of happy ever after. A must read for any true romantic!

Alex and Megan’s story was a longtime coming. Although Alex was sure of his feelings for Megan. She could not believe anyone would feel the same for her. A lovely story but I was disappointed that we didn’t get Summers or Gabrielle’s reaction to Megan’s secret hobby.

I always love a good second chance romance and this book fit the bill. Although I doubted Alex and Megan would ever get where I wanted them to, they did and it was worth the slow burn it took to get there. I enjoy Ms. Chase's take on the HEA and can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Until there was Us: I really like this story, it was emotional and a wonderful second chance romance. Megan and Alex really struggle with their own life issues. Megan letting go and finding herself and doing the things that she wants and makes her happy instead of trying to get her fathers approval. Alex struggled with the guilt of not being able to stop his friend from and hurt and then not being able to heal him to the point of walking again. Grab the tissue.

The Montgomery Family is one of the reasons that I love all Samantha Chase's books. I remember years ago when I first read the first Montgomery book and discover the Cupid William Montgomery trying to marry all his sons. Now it is the other part of the family and how fun and sexy is the book! Megan and Alex are a second chance love affair. She was not ready for him in the first time, but now they are slowly developing a strong relationship and with the help of the uncles and aunties... This is a wonderful book and you will love it!

It has been a long time since I have read a book by Samantha Chase and now, I am asking myself "why?". Until There was Us is the story of Alex and Meghan, two people who meet and later rediscover each other. It is a beautifully written novel that you never want to end! The characters are lovable and flawed and these flaws become the heart of this story. This book is about people. There is no murder, no suspense and no raunchy language or sex scenes. Yet it has romance that makes you sigh and say "I want that!" There is conflict like people face everyday. This is also a story of choices and the ensuing consequences. It has been a long time since a book has moved me to tears but this story brought tears, both sad and happy. This book is not fluff; it has substance and depth. It is also a clean read. I will definitely be looking for more books written by Samantha Chase!

Megan attends her cousin’s wedding where she hooks up with a groomsman, Alex. They both go their own way but haven’t forgotten each other. Years later, Megan returns and Alex will do what it takes to convince her he’s the man for her. Chase provided a great balance of family drama and romance creating a fun and entertaining contemporary romance. This is a book of second chances. With all second chances, you can't wait for the characters to communicate their true feelings and just let it happen. I received this ARC copy of Until There Was Us from Sourcebooks - Casablanca. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Megan is a Montgomery and she is determined to prove that she has the smarts to be a success in business. Alex is a physiotherapist, and he is a special man who listens to his patients as well as working with them to heal their injuries. He two meet at her cousin Zach’s wedding and they have a wonderful weekend together. Neither tell anyone else and they try to have a long distance relationship. But with Megan determined to work to prove herself, she messes up and forgets a weekend plan to meet Alex. Obviously, the relationship fails. Megan’s job has expired and she is offered an opportunity to move to work with Zach to implement a computer system in the company. The prospect of moving to the town where Alex lives is both scary and exciting. Especially when they “run into each other” and the sparks are still there. Megan still is driven to prove herself, but Alex shows her that there is much more to life than work. Megan eventually accepts that, and she shows Alex that he can’t heal everyone, but he can make a lot of lives better through his therapy skills. I loved this book! The difficult process of trusting another person completely, learning how to be your true self, making new friends and moving on with life no matter what is thrown at you are all dealt with herein. Along the way, there’s spicy heat, anticipation, lots of laughter, tears and hugs. This is one you don’t want to miss! Thank you to NetGalley and Samantha Chase for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review.

Megan and Alex had had a wild weekend two years previous but things turned sour on them when trying to do the long distance relationship thing. Now Megan has taken a new job and is located in the same town and with the same friends/family as Alex. After clearing the air regarding their past decisions and actions, things take off pretty quickly for this couple. Megan struggles to live a life outside of work and Alex is determined to show her there is more than just a computer and software updates. I enjoyed watching this couple together and with their friends. They were both adorable and equally likeable. The secondary characters were great and there were scenes with a baby and then a rabid animal that had me grinning wildly. The heat level is medium, in my opinion, but the chemistry is real as is the relationship between Megan and Alex. This is a nice low angst read that didn’t really have any serious drama driving it but is perfect when you’re looking for something sweet and romantic to slip into. Altogether, a completely enjoyable book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Sourcebooks. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley to read in exchange for a fair review. Until There Was Us is one of Samantha Chase’s Montgomery Brothers novels. This one is about a Montgomery sister though. Megan Montgomery is a workaholic, so much so that she has let work consume her life entirely and that cost her a promising relationship with Alex Rebat after they met at her cousins wedding 2 years ago. Deciding to make changes she takes a new job in Portland where Alex lives in hopes that perhaps they can start over. Alex has been thinking about Megan and wondering, so when he finds out she is moving to Portland he can’t wait to see her and find out if what they had is still there. A lovely romance about figuring out who you are and what is important to you. I enjoyed reading it very much. Quite steamy. Publishing date May 1, 2018 #UntilThereWasUs #NetGalley

Who doesn't love a second chance romance?? Megan and Alex met two years ago but geography wasn't on their side. Now it is and they're both a little surprised to see that the spark is still there. Megan's insecure and a bit standoffish, but with good reason. And Alex? Alex is the ultimate hero and I could read an entire book about him and no one else! Great book and it was wonderful to reconnect with the Montgomery family again!! Can't wait for more!!

Megan Montgomery and Alex Rebat gave into chemistry two years ago at her cousin, Zach's wedding. They attempted a long distance relationship but that came to an abrupt halt when her workaholic ways got in the way. What I really like about Alex and Megan's relationship is that they help each other realize their own potential and limitations. To accept who they are and live life on their own terms. Second Chance romance is one of my favorite genre to read and when you throw in a dog (Maylene) we have perfection. Probably the best thing about reading a book by Samantha is that she has a way of writing that pulls you right into the story, like you're a part of it.

UNTIL THERE WAS US is the seventh instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary adult THE MONTGOMERY BROTHERS romance series focusing on the Montgomery siblings and cousins. This is IT specialist Megan Montgomery, and physical therapist Alex Rebat’s story line. UNTIL THERE WAS US can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Alex and Megan) UNTIL THERE WAS US follows the second chance romance between IT specialist Megan Montgomery, and physical therapist Alex Rebat. Two years earlier, at her cousin Zach Montgomery’s wedding to Gabriella Martine, Megan met and spent a wild weekend with Zach’s friend and former physical therapist Alex Rebat. In the ensuing months Megan would begin to pull back from a possible long distance relationship only to break Alex’s heart when all was said and done. Fast forward to present day wherein Megan is offered the opportunity to work with her cousin in Portland knowing that the possibility of running into Alex was a guaranteed, sure thing. A weekend of painting for Alex, and a day out with the girls for Megan ends with the rekindling friendship between our story line couple. What ensues is the second chance romance between Megan and Alex, and the potential fall-out when Megan is offered the chance of a life-time, and Alex’s life spins out of control with the loss of someone close. Megan Montgomery struggles with issues of low self-esteem; a workaholic trying to prove she is good enough or better than anyone expected. Alex Rebat battles the self-imposed guilt of sins from the past-a guilt that begins to fester with an unexpected loss. The relationship between Megan and Alex is a rekindling friendship; a second chance at a happily ever after. The slow building romance finds Alex biding his time with the woman with whom he has fallen in love. The $ex scenes are mostly implied and fade to black. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Zach and Gabrielle (I’ll Be There #6), Ethan and Summer (Meant For You #5), as well as Megan’s meddling parents, aunts and uncles, and her long suffering brother Christian. UNTIL THERE WAS US is a story of family and friendship; guilt and second chances; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is realistic and encouraging; the characters are sassy, spirited and energetic; the romance is tender and affectionate, UNTIL THERE WAS US is a passionate, touching and delightful story.
