Katie Lane does it again!! This series is great and this last book just might be the best one yet!! Katie never disappoints!! The only thing I didn't like is that the series is over.
I loved this story of a hot-headed Scotsman and a romantic runaway bride! There were elements of magic, in the form of Santa, the secret baby, marriage of convenience, an interfering great aunt, big family & loyal friends. It leaves you with a warm, happy feeling!
I am in love with the series. Such a great mix of characters that give a good dose of humor, love, romance, and excitement. And the hot covers don't hurt either. Patrick was a guy I liked - even while he was in his eternal bachelor, love em and leave em stage. He didn't beat around the bush about it. You knew what you were getting if you went home with him - the night of your life, but just the one. In one of the more hilarious cases of mistaken identity, he meets Jacqueline. Thinking she's another girl his family is throwing at him, he's not afraid to sweep her off her feet and carry her to bed - not realizing that she's far from anything he's ever imagined. Jacqueline was quite the character. I'm not really sure how to describe her. You go from wanting to shake her in frustration to thinking she's the best thing in the world. In the end, you can't help but fall in love with her crazy quirky attitude and borderline insane personality. Through a string of very unexpected events, and more than a few misunderstandings, Patrick and Jacqueline fall in love - but nothing happens in a normal way for Jacqueline. I laughed at the antics, fumed when someone just didn't understand, and cheered uncontrollably when they finally got their acts together. An amazing Christmas romance that I know I'll be re-reading next season. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*
Unwrapped is the third and final book in Katie Lane’s Hunk for the Holiday series. I have loved this series from the start. Lane created a wonderful family dynamic with the McPhersons and their extended clan. Aunt Weezie is one of my all-time favorite characters. The addition of “Santa” to this installment was a fun twist. Patrick and Jacqueline were perfect for each other, but it took them a while to admit it. If you haven’t already started the series it is more fun if you start at the beginning. However, there is easily enough background to make the novel enjoyable if you haven’t read the others. I’m very sad to see this series end and hope that at some point she returns to some of the secondary characters and give them their own HEAs. In the meantime, I will enjoy rereading the current books during the holiday season.
Review: Jac and Patrick (Cassie's brother) hooked up for one heck of a one-night stand but by morning he was long gone and hard to find. This was round about Halloween. Fast forward about a month and a half and Jac and Patrick end up back together in time so she can gather her inheritance and land herself a hubby. Jac was a bit of a handful, not someone who is easy to love. She had her moments when she was alright but they were few and far between. Patrick? How could I not love him? He acts like a grownup, he works hard, does his fair share of the work, and even has a bunch of critters. Besides hes awful cute. So it was a struggle to see the two of them becoming a couple. What made it worse was I wasn't the only one...they struggled and fought off and on all the time! I mean, disagreeing then having good make up sex is one thing but this was a horse of a whole different color and attitude. Eventually the pulled it together but it was like one day hour they were fighting and the next hour they were all lovey dovey like nothing had ever been wrong. And all their bonding time seemed to be done off page - No pull your heads out of the garbage pit, I'm not talking about the sex. I'm talking about the holding hands and going to the zoo and walking and talking and snuggling on the couch while watching a movie and him chasing her with mud and ...you get the idea. I would have liked to see more of that. It would have helped me like Jac more, you know? Other than those two things, I really loved the book. Katie once again was able to bring that crazy McPherson family and the Holidays in to close the story out in that big, loud family way. I wonder if Katie grew up with one of those big loud family's. Again she has written wonderfully colorful characters. While I may not like Jac, I still have intense feelings for her and I was definitely pulled into the story again. I really think these are wonderful trade marks she has. I didn't know until today that Katie writes Cowboy books. Being the Cowboy lover that I am, you know my next Katie Lane books will totally be some of her Cowboys! But Cowboys or City boys, she writes terrific Holiday stories! Jacqueline Maguire is in dire need of a husband, she just found out that in order to collect her inheritance from her wealthy aunt she must be married. Only problem is she's thought she's found "the one" twice now, but nerves have gotten the best of her, and minutes before saying "I do" she's gotten spooked and left her grooms standing at the altar. Her sister chalks it up to choosing the from the wrong circle of men, she however, thinks she just hasn't found the right one yet, and continues to hold out hope he's out there somewhere. But since he hasn't come along yet, she has devised a plan to get herself a husband and her money, now all she needs is a willing participant... Patrick McPherson enjoys the simple life he leads, and living in his secluded cabin in the woods. He has no interest in tying himself down with a relationship or a wife, his aunt Weezie on the other hand believes it's time for this eternal bachelor to finally settle down. After several of her attempts at finding him a bride backfire on her he's hoping she has finally taken the hint and given up, but when he opens his front door and finds a beautiful girl in a wedding dress standing on his porch he figures aunt Weezie has just upped her game... This was my first encounter with this authors work and I can honestly say that it won't be my last! The story line captivated my attention right from the start and had me burning right through the pages, and staying up well past my bed time just to finish it! Definitely a memorable first read for me, and one that I think everyone should add to their holiday reading wish lists, it's sure to put you in the holiday spirit...and leave you blushing a time or two!
