Overview

Myanmar, ruled by a corrupt military junta since 1962, and embroiled in one of the longest-running civil wars in history, finally opens its borders for limited business and tourism in 2011. The US Export/Import Bank, anxious to leverage trade agreements into democratic reforms, tasks an American finance expert to open doors there.
She vanishes without a trace.
Investigator, Pete Chandler, dispatched by her panicked congressman father, is on a mission to find her and bring her home. Chandler travels up the Irrawaddy River and charges into the heart of darkness of corrupt government, dictatorial generals, criminal networks---and the fight of his life.
The story begins in Minneapolis, MN and moves to Myanmar. Chandler encounters an exotic world of mystery, corruption, and also hope. He meets Aung San Suu Kyi and comes to understand and respect the struggle of the people. The process changes him forever.
The author traveled to Myanmar and has done extensive research about the country.

About the Author

I have practiced criminal law both as a prosecutor and defense lawyer for over 30 years and have some wonderful, crazy, touching, terrible stories to tell. I write mysteries/suspense that put people in large conflicts: against religious intolerance, terrorists, menacing government agencies, dangerous criminal clients, and personal challenges.
For the benefit of my readers, I have three series of books started. Two involve crime and courtrooms---the Zehra Henning series and the Ted Rohrbacher series. I have also started a new series with Pete Chandler who travels to exotic places in the world to solve mysteries---usually places I've been to and have done a ton of research.
I add true things that I'm curious about and will interest readers. And, I always try to make my stories "page turners" that I hope you can't put down!
