About the Author

This is Michaela’s first book. Michaela was born in southern California in 1994 and moved to Seattle, Washington in 1995, where she lives today. She wrote this book during her junior year at Central Washington University. Michaela is studying Child Life and Family Studies and will graduate in June 2018. Michaela’s compassion for those with diseases, disabilities, and special needs have guided her to this course of study. A class assignment to educate others on a disease “of choice” lead Michaela to write this children’s book. A childhood friend who suffers from ulcerative colitis was the motivation for the subject of this book. Michaela has received awards for her volunteer work and has clocked in more than 2,000 hours, working with children, teens, and adults with disabilities, illnesses, and special needs. Her desire is to help others and pursue a Family Life profession. Upon graduation, she plans to work in a hospital setting, advocating for children fighting a disease their families.
