I'm not sure how they do it, but they have done it. Once again Live has released a brilliant diverse CD that is nothing like their past albums. From the hard rocking 'People Like You' to the simple, yet beautiful 'Call Me a Fool', 'V' sparkles on every front. However, they are just the tip of the iceberg, 'Overcome' is just magical, the sheer beauty of this song can not be described, lyrically and musically it is the best song on the album, in my opinion. 'Transmit Your Love' is mellow and beautiful, yet kicks arse with a great guitar solo from Chad T. and an awesome heavy middle section, I love the lyric ''Tell your leaders love is town!!''. The great rockers keep coming, 'Simple Creed' (the first single) is an awesome rock song that'll have you up on your feet in no time!! And 'Deep Enough', probably the heaviest song on the album, just rocks the house!! Includes a great mellow part that contrasts really nicely. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. This album is awesome, I love the new sound and especially love Live for one again changing their sound between albums. I can't wait to hear these new songs in concert!! I whole-heartedly recommend this album to anyone and everyone!! And Ed, Chad, Chad and Pat, you guys rock forever!!!

I fell in love with Live for ''Throwing Copper,'' one of their earlier CDs. When they released ''Simple Creed'' to the radio, I went insane and immeadiatley had to buy this album. I'm extremley satisfied with the work on this CD, and would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I have had a copy of this disc since summer time, and it has grown on me with each passing day .... This album has it all .... Rap, Hip-Hop, Soul, Rock, Metal ... Each song carries a new emotion .... It takes a special band and a special disc to carry out the different emotions displayed here in ''V'' .... You dont wanna buy it, don't .... that's one more copy left for someone that does ..... I have been a HUGE fan since 1994 and in these past seven years, I have seen them evolve their music with the evolvement of their lives... From anger to peace to love to who cares what the public thinks ... +LIVE+ has never been about what the consumer wants, just what makes them happy ... That is why they are so appealing, b/c they are true and honest .... They do not sell out for anyone or anything .... Overcome was just released to sell more copies ... BullS*it... +LIVE+ does not make money from albums, their management does !!!! +LIVE+ is rapping to try to get into hip hop .... What a joke !!!! +LIVE+ is a group of guys doing what they love... Creating and Playing music .... If you wanna bash them .... I challenge you this .... Go to just ONE of their concerts and see how much energy and emotion they put into it, and you will forever see why they deserve to be called +LIVE+ ..... Thank You for all the great music and memories !!!!

Just listen to the vocals, music, and lyrics. They're real. Listen to those of us who BOUGHT it not to some schmuck who gets a promo copy and tries to make a deadline.

Live has a different type of sound on every CD and never gets boring! This CD has a little bit of a faster pace with still a couple really soft songs, this CD really shows the range of Ed's voice!

Ive heard only two songs from this album, overcome and simple creed, but i do have to say that this is their best album since throwing copper. I heard kroq playing overcome a whole lot today and hopefully the music channels will pick up on live's new album and promote it. Channels like MTV didnt promote distance to here or secret samadhi for some reason. Hopefully they will embrace this work.

While the album does not compare to ''Throwing Copper,'' the new sounds in ''V'' are enough to keep me coming back for more. Some of their better songs on this album include (in order on the CD) Simple Creed, Deep Enough, Like a Soldier, Call Me a Fool, Flow, Nobody Knows, and of course, Overcome!

Although the original title for this album was supposed to be ''Ecstatic Fanatic'', LIVE, upon deciding on artwork for the cover, opted for a more appopriate title. My ONLY disappointment with this album lies with the decision to change the name. I have come to appreciate the ''FLOW'' of the titles of the previous LIVE albums. They were unique, creative, and 100% representative of the tracks on each release. Now, I give LIVE 5 stars for this CD, so I guess ''V'' is appropriate. I am very happy they have resorted to the old LIVE logo as it appeared on ''Mental Jewelry'' and ''Throwing Copper''. Overall, the innuendos on this CD are more fabulous than even ''Secret Samadhi'' gave us. My summary of the LIVE release ''V'' goes like this ----- THIS ALBUM ROCKS!

Live's fifth offering aptly titled V, delivers a great blend of guitars, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and poignant ballads. The band has shown a gradual progression musically in each of their albums and V furthers their progression. The album's first track ''Simple Creed'' sets the tone for the album, which is straightforward rock with a nicely added rap by Tricky. All the songs on this album mesh well together. ''Flow'' adds a great song to the album with the subtle background vocals provided by Adam Duritz. ''Forever May Not Be Long Enough'' produced with Glen Ballard is a tightly crafted song that you will find yourself singing in your head repeatedly. ''Overcome'' adds a nice balance to the record taking advantage of Ed Kowalczyk's lyrics and his voice. This is the same type of song that started people listening to the band after ''Lightning Crashes'' dominated the radio. While there is no central theme to his lyrics as in Distance to Here, he adds plenty of wit to his songs as with ''Transmit Your Love.'' Live has crafted a great album of songs that hopefully more people will take notice of in the future.

This is one of the msot substancial ablums in years, not because Live is a great rock band, but because their willingness to explore rock music in a different and creative new light. This will be an album that people will be talking about for years to come. The highlights of this album are the ferocity of the lyrics in ''People Like You'' the haunting vocals of ''Overcome''. Overall the album has to be one of the best of 2001, so do yourself a favor and throw down your $12-$15 bucks and enjoy what true rock is all about.

Man, I'm so very tired of hearing Live criticized for this album by people who haven't been paying attention since '94, or even '99. To understand any album, especially this one, you have to know where the band is coming from. This incarnation of Live was coming off of a huge tour, and that vibe is all over V. The critics have spent years spouting that Live is far too pretentious and overbearing, then curl their lips at an album that shows the boys are just happy to be in a rock band. The sincerity's gone? If the theme of ''The Ride'' was the only one that showed through, I might agree, but here there's ''Deep Enough'' and ''Hero of Love'' to blur the lines and shake things up. I take each album I own for what it is, and I don't look for the same qualities in every album. I listen to TOOL's ''Aenima'' to spend a little time in my shadow; I listen to Fantomas or Mr. Bungle when the world is getting too serious; I listen to Glen Phillips' ''Abulum'' when I need to take a breather; and I listen to V because Ed sings about living in this world and transcending it at the same moment, and that's cooler than anyone who's pandering to the rock norm of bland anger and apathy.

Everything about this album is simply amazing. I couldn't disagree with the reviewer more. I totally agree that ''Like a Soldier'' is going to be a hit. My favorite so far is ''Transmit Your Love'' with Chad Taylor being awesome on the guitar!! Buy this now, you owe it to yourself.

Deep enough is outstanding. Simple Creed's lyrics are so true. And Nobody knows may be my favorite song on the whole cd, The only songs I dont love are Forever may not be long enough and the ride. Other than that, I dont know how they will choose which songs to release they are all so very good, but I am hoping for deep enough and nobody knows.

I've been a HUGE fan of Live for years, and I must admit that the albums produced by Jerry Harrison ( Mental Jewelry, Throwing Copper, and The Distance to Here ) have a different sound/feel than this second CD without Harrison... But your reviewer needs to get a clue - his concern is the difference of sound, the changing from the norm, if you will, and he labels such a change a mid-life crisis. Are these men not artists? Are they not allowed to grow, shift, change, and experiment with their sound and style? After all, isn't it the ability to produce new and different sounds, while still maintaining a popular following the definition of success? And would any of you really want to have another 14 songs that sound exactly like the last CD?

Anyway, I LOVE the CD, having just picked it up the other day. The only down point on the whole disc is ''Forever May Not be Long Enough'' which is produced by Glen Ballard ( of Alanis Morrissette drum beat fame ). Other than that, this is a SOLID, SOLID, wonderful new set of songs from one of the best bands in my collection. Great job to Live, and B&N - consider getting a new reviewer that is open to growth and change, and is also capable of distinguishing the difference is style, depth, content, and meaning of Live versus Korn. If my sense of music is of any value, ''Like a Soldier'' is going to be HUGE; it is very UN-Korn like, and reminds even the casual listener of why Live is Live...

how can you not give this CD 5 Stars... I am not the true blue LIVE Fan,but more someone that enjoys listening to a voice where you can hear the feeling and the emotions to the songs. You can feel Yourself standing next to Ed when you close your eyes.Everything seems in tune with each other...just like the guys. I meet them in Syracuse Concert last year...as their music, they are down to earth.

I haven't heard too many songs from this particular CD, but i am a huge Live fan and every other CD is awesome so i imagine this one to be as well. one of the songs i know if Hero of Love and it is one of my favorite Live songs. they are a rock band that sings with respect to subjects like love, whereas most bands now just cuss and talk about suicide. I love Live

Live is the best sound out there. They are fantastic. This is another example of their talent. Throwing Copper is still my all time favorite, but V shows versatility.

I love the boys of LIVE. They are the friendliest band out there. Their new CD is incredibly plump. I urge everyone to go out and friendly it. It's deak.
