I can see this becoming a movie First of all, the story is great: A young woman drives all the way to California to save her father.  Even though her intentions are selfish, at first, Val (our hero) finds herself helping a number of strangers during her journey. I especially admire the friendship that developes between Val and Melinda, the orphan she befriends.  Val is strong-willed, while Melinda is a bit niave and immature. In the end, they end up needing one another.  Plus, I thought is was interesting to read a story in which the MOTHER has abandoned the family, instead of the father.  And the fact that a second story developes in the later portion of the book, makes this even more intertesting.  I look forward= to reading more from this author and reading more about these characters.  This is more than a story about a road trip, this is a story about bravery, friendship, and discovering who you really are and what you're made of.Barnes and Noble needs to carry this book in their store, and not just online.

I really enjoyed this story and I think this author is under rated.  Val is a strong female character, and the dialogue is very well written.  This is a must read.  from Rob Zickye

Very good!!  Val is a "tough girl" for the millenium.  It's  refreshing to read a story where the characters, plot and  dialogue are completely new .  I hope to read more from this author.   ---Elaine2013
