A gallant hero, a wonderful heroine, generous but torn between what her responsibilities and her desires. Brit Gabriel meets French Emmaline in Spain during a battle. He rescues her from being raped just after her husband is killed, and saves her son's life. He protects them and gives them money to leave the country. Time passes and he sees her again in Brussels. Her son has gone to war and she's alone. She invites Gabriel to her bed, and they have an affair that ends when he goes to battle--against her son. More time passes and they reunite when she comes to Gabriel for help to find her son, who has gone to find the man who tried to rape his mother. They travel across England in pursuit, overcoming the heartache of her earlier choice and finding love again. Their relationship was just the thing good romances are made of--love, respect, honor. I'm ready to go on a Diane Gaston glom, just to dive back into the gorgeous romances she crafts.
