I was a little worried about this story when I found out this was Maya's story. In the first Dead in the City book I thought she was a brat. But oh my goodness! This book was great. Maya was not what I expected. She turned out to be a total badass. And Shane knew exactly what she needed to fight her demons and find herself. I loved this story. It had great action and an even greater romance. I really liked seeing characters from previous books by Sara Humphreys as well. It was really nice to catch up. And getting a glimpse of Olivia and Doug's baby was an added bonus.

Vampire... You are Mine, and I would die to protect you! Shane Quesada is a Sentry, Warrior and protector of the vampire race. Hundreds of years old Shane has seen a lot over his time and has chosen to live a life of solitude that was, until now! Maya Robertson suffered a brutal attack the night she was turned and although she was no longer suppose to dream the memories of that night haunt her every time she closes her eyes. Unable to remember her past Maya is on a wild path of self destruction seeking to gain back what she feels was taken from her. Shane has watched Maya but kept his distance but now that has changed. Shane has seen Maya's dreams and he know he must help her but she stops him at every turn. When Maya puts herself in a dangerous situation Shane is forced to act knowing it could destroy the Vampire truce and bring war. Forced to leave town Maya and Shane will end up finding out more about Maya and as more of her past starts to become clear so does the danger she is in and Shane is determined to keep her safe. When Maya's past finally catches up with them it may not be Maya that needs saving but will Shane be able to let go of who he is to be who she needs or will who they both are drive them apart forever. I loved this book it was so well written it allowed you to lose yourself within the storyline as if you were there alongside the character. I would highly recommend this book to lover of romance with bite.

Well, Sara's books just get better and better. There are 320 pages to this story but it reads like a novella and ends too soon. Maya has lost her past. Olivia turned her and helps her as much as she can. Shane has been turned for 400 years and they are thrown when they meet in the Dreamscape. It takes them awhile to fit and then the Wolves plan to cause trouble while the Clan leaders are at a meeting. There are some pretty deep actions and scenarios that pop up. You will have to read this book to see who, what and why the book ends this way. You will really like this book if you have read Sara before. If you haven't and this is your first one you will become hooked! Enjoy!

I had a hard time getting through this book. It was like reading about a college graduate dating someone in high school. Love Shane but Maya was so immature and just plain selfish. I don't know what book a reviewer was reading with 320 pages but the one I uploaded had 235 pages. Bad ass, I didn't think so. Skip this one and go on to book 3.

If you’ve read Sara Humphreys, then I’m sure you appreciate her smooth, fluent style that has readers turning pages faster than they even comprehend. The dialogue is flowing and intelligent; with a diversity of characters in a realm that provides passion, humour, intrigue and danger.  We first met Maya; the beautiful, blond bartender in Tall, Dark and Vampire, and she is often referred to as youngling or baby Vamp, due to her recently turned status; but known best for her adversity to conform and follow rules, Maya’s reputation is one of a girl time girl with a rebellious streak a mile wide. In VAMPIRE TROUBLE (which I might add is aptly named) a recalcitrant Maya will take readers on a journey of mystery and menace, through sorrow and heartache; but as always, with Maya being Maya, trouble is never far behind. Ms Humphreys second book in the Dead In The City series is as captivating as book one and set to be a HUGE HIT!!!

Wow... I usually find something in every book I read that connects me to the characters, but in this book, it was almost like reading some of my own life. That is how life-like and believable Sara writes her characters...even though technically they are dead, being vampires and all. Maya, sweet, stubborn, somewhat naive, plays the "dumb blonde" to a T. Shane, the HOT, also stubborn, lonely (even though he doesn't know it) older vamp. Join them on the adventure as they spontaneously combust (figuratively)and learn to love each other along the way y

Vampires, Weres... from New York City to the Louisiana Bayou!  Oh My! VAMPIRE TROUBLE by Sara Humphreys in a very enjoyable, spicy paranormal romance!  It is the second book in her Dead in the City series.  It can easily be read as a standalone as Sara fills in everything you need to know to enjoy it by itself.  However, I would recommend reading the series in order as there are interconnected characters and Dead in the City #1, TALL, DARK and VAMPIRE, was such a fantastic read also!   My full review has been posted to Reading Between the Wines Book Club.

Fast paced and full of action, love and humour, this book never has a dull moment and I was soon so caught up in the story that it was difficult to put the book down in order to sleep. The world building and descriptive nature brings it all to life so vividly, that my imagination easily took over and I could see the story in my mind clearly as it all unfolded. The chemistry between Shane and Maya is so evident, and I loved reading about them both overcoming their issues and realising that they worked best when together. Their story is definitely only just beginning, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for them. This is definitely one to read if you enjoy paranormal romances. I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The characters are snarky and fun to read. I definitely recommend for a fun adventure full of humor.

The stick in the mud rule follower and the wild child trouble maker.  When we met Maya in TALL, DARK, AND VAMPIRE I didn’t like her a whole lot.  She struck me as a spoiled brat pita. That continued through the first part of this book but circumstances often force you to grow up and Maya does a lot of growing in this book.  By the end she had earned my respect. It was fun watching by the book Shane fall for Maya and make all the guy mistakes. It goes to prove that guys through the centuries are still guys and prone to foot in mouth disease.  All in all this was a fun book and though the second in the series I think it stands well on its own.

VAMPIRE TROUBLE is the second instalment in Sara Humphreys’ contemporary, adult Dead in the City paranormal romance series that is a spinoff from her popular Amoveo Legend series.  This is four hundred year old vampire Shane Quesada and youngling vampire Maya Robertson’s story.  Maya was first introduced in book one Tall, Dark and Vampire. Because of the Amoveo Legend crossover, many of the secondary characters will be familiar to readers of Sara’s other series. The focus of the storyline is on Shane and Maya’s building relationship as well as the slowly evolving war between the werewolves and the New York Coven. One werewolf in particular has targeted Maya for extermination and Shane has been ordered to guard Maya with his life. Finding themselves secluded in Louisiana, Maya will discover that she is much more than a youngling vampire and the wolves are determined to end her life. A gypsy woman will begin to uncover the truth about Maya’s past and it is a past that has followed her to the Bayou. The relationship between Shane and Maya is tepid and volatile.   Shane has been attracted to Maya in a way that can only be explained through DNA but Maya’s attitude, anxiety and acidic personality are something that only a bloodmate would find appealing. As the storyline builds, so too does the relationship that will find our couple fighting for their lives as well as their love. The sex is sensual, passionate and arousing but Shane’s love for Maya may not be enough to keep our couple safe or together. The world building continues from book one with the inclusion of many of the previous storyline characters including the New York Coven czars Doug and Olivia and a number of the Amoveo Legend vampires, shifters and supernatural powers. Sara does an amazing job crossing over and the blending between the two series with the familiarity of many names, places and powers. VAMPIRE TROUBLE is a seductive storyline where two vampires will find love and a happily ever after. Sara Humphreys writes an intelligent, inventive and spirited series where the impossible seems possible and the improbable has already began.

I love Sarah Humphreys and am first in line for all of her books, yet somehow I forget how flippin' awesome she is between books.  Seriously, I get giddy open it up and then realize, "Holi Canoli, this is way better than I remember".  I guess that is my minds way of protecting me from withdrawals between books.  #truestory  Smexy, action filled awesome is what this book is.  I seriously could not put it down.   I was not sure I was going to "like" Maya and be invested in her story because my first impression of her in book one was not "Yay, please let me know more about her".  It was more, "Oh Maya, you are pretty darn unlikeable".  I am now a huge fan of hers and what is not hot about Shane?  Yep, you guessed it.... nothing.  Humorous, hot, and fast passed, this book is another must read from Sarah.
