Overview

Love bites when a seventeen-year-old vampire and witch tangle.

Marissa Lakeland faces her worst nightmare one dark and misty night when she chases a gorgeous hunk of a guy to prove he's a vampire. So why does the thought of tall, dark and vampiric appeal to Marissa, when there's no way a vampire can compel a witch to do his bidding? At least that's what she's read in vampire lore. But lore can be mistaken.

Fledgling vampire Dominic Vorchowski knows Marissa's the only one who can save him. Only why does she have to be a witch? Fate has thrown him together with the bewitching Marissa and if he gains her trust, he'll have his life back again. Except for that whole eternal thirst for blood thing. And the fangs. Not to mention the aversion to intense sunlight. In any event, he's set his sights on one girl who's totally off the menu.

The centuries-old vamp Lynetta wants Dominic to replace the lover she lost, and no teenaged witch is going to take her guy away. Dominic and Marissa must stop the vampiress from winning the battle of the night.but time is running out.

Let me come right out and say this is defiantly a good book for teenage readers. The book is written equally from both main character's points of view so it's more suitable for both genders than other books in its field. The characters have their own quirks and short comings to make their characters seem more believable, the way the story starts and the fact it all takes place in a week is a little surreal though. There aren't any major twists in this one if that's what you're looking for, but the language is easy and the book is short. It goes by fast and is defiantly worth the read.

Terry has blended young witches, a sexy love-struck vampire and some evil bloodsuckers in a delightfully unique urban fantasy. I thought he should know the truth. "Some say that I'm a ... well a ..." I hated to say what others teased me mercilessly about... "A... slow learner." He shrugged as if to indicate that it didn't mean anything to him, but seemed anxious about what to say to console me. Finally, he reached out and touched my hand. "Yeah, but they don't have life mates whose destines are written in the stars." I wanted to groan out loud. I was a slow learner and was to be mated with a vampiric human whose old flame wanted me dead. How was this a good thing? THE VAMPIRE ... IN MY DREAMS by Terry Spear is a bewitching, action-packed vamps tale targeted to a YA audience, but easily enjoyed by all ages. This is a story of young love vs. evil. I listened to the audio edition. I'm thrilled that Terry is back to writing about vamps as I initially became hooked on audios with her darling YA KISS OF THE VAMPIRE, which featured smokin' hot vampires, a cute and friendly witch, and a cruise ship of partying teens on spring break. I highly recommend it. THE VAMPIRE... IN MY DREAMS is another entertaining read of the same ilk. Marissa Lakeland is our strong-willed heroine in this book. She has a feisty outlook and a tender heart. She's a witch-in-training and is on a mission to prove that vampires don't exist when she learns that they do! She has an immediate attraction to Dominic, our vampiric hero, and there's a good reason for that as it is written in the stars that they are destined to be soulmates. Dominic had the unfortunate experience of meeting Lynetta, a centuries old vamp who is determined to force Dominic to replace the lover she lost hundreds of years ago. Dominic desperately needs Marissa to help him defeat the evil Lynetta and thereby remove her curse on him. Of course, Lynetta wants Marissa dead. I really liked Marissa and Dominic! I thought the different paranormal elements were really cool, and I liked the different twists to them. The book started off exciting, and stayed that way for the whole book. They had trouble at every turn in the book, which was bad for the characters, but good for me. The secondary characters were fun too, including the villain, Lynetta. I like vampires, but I really like the unique take on them that this book had. I really want to know what happens next! A great YA paranormal!
