Vampires of New England was a very satisfying read! I'm a fan of 'strange history' and Mr. Rondina does a very thorough job of exploring the somewhat obscure heritage of vampirism in small towns all over New England. While not as extensive as Michael Bell's 'Food for the Dead', this book takes a more atmospheric approach, focusing on the legends and storytelling - it feels like something to read around a campfire on a cold night. I have to admit, when I spotted the cover I thought this book would might be just another Goth fantasy, but Mr. Rondina treats the material with respect, even while keeping the reading fun. I can honestly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys true stories of the paranormal, strange history, or just New England folk tales.
