Veiled in Darkness takes place a month after the events in Fall Into Darkness. We continue the tragic story of Eli and Ashley as they try to find a way to save those that need saving, find a way to free Ashely from her contract to Lucifer, and in the end finally be together as mates where meant to be. This was a whirlwind adventure with several surprises along the way. The plot is crazy and the characters are dynamic. This story is more about Ashley, her learning what her true purpose is, and also coming into her own. Some of the surprising twists we learning had me floored. One was who the Maker is and the other is Ashely's heritage. I don't want to spoil the adventure on these points, so I wont say anymore. I also very much enjoyed several of the secondary characters. We meet a hellhound who is amusing, a demon that's interesting, and more Angel's. What I Didn't like At times I felt that the characters needed to talk mind to mind, instead of out loud. Some of the things they share are sensitive secrets and to say them out in the open, especially in Hell. I felt like someone would or could have learned of these things. At times the author had her characters talking mind to mind during sensitive information, but at other times they didn't. Not consistent on this aspect. At one point an army invades. The characters are making a big deal out of this and in a hurry to stop and find out Lucifer's plans. Ashely is needed to do her thing, but instead of rushing off to stop this invasion as mentioned, her and Eli get it on; before she goes off to war. What bugged me is lives are being lost, the characters made a point in saying she is needed quickly, and this is her destiny, but she first has to stop and have sex with her mate. Throughout the book we have all this build up for an ending battle. Then the time comes and it was anti-climactic, even the heroine mentioned this. I was expecting a battle scene and we get nothing. Veiled in Darkness has a lot to enjoy. It's a fast-paced, exciting, and engaging read. This book wraps up Ashley and Elle's story, but it's not over. The author gave her readers a teaser of what is to come and I have to say it has me intrigued. Rated: 3.5 Veiled Stars *Disclaimer: I received a complimentary ARC copy provided by Valerie Twombly with the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments and ratings are my own.

Book Two: Picks us up right where book one left us. Ashley is still learning more about what and who she is. Eli is doing all he can to rescue his mate from Lucifer. Ashley realizes it is up to her to save the day or is it? What does one do when their parents are demon and angel? Well you get as many as you can from both worlds on your side and prepare to battle is what you do and Ashley knows if she has any hope in getting back to her mate she must hunker down and do what is required of her. I enjoyed book three very much and I hope there is more in this series. As the ending leaves us with a hint. I was gifted this book for my honest review.

This is the continued story of Ashley and Eli. Eli, Ashley and her father Tegan and some unlikely allies are trying to find away to end Ashley's contract with Lucifer. This book has so many wonderful little details in it, that it just draws you in even more than the last book. "It had been a month since she’d gone. Seven hundred and thirty hours, a fraction of time to an angel but an eternity to him." I absolutely love the breakdown of time in this paragraph. Along with how Twombly describes each section of the Underworld and each character's personality and looks. It really is a readers dream. You do get to see many of the same characters but you are learning so much about each of them in this book. Ashley is truly coming into her own in this book and gaining some great allies as she goes. Her strength is amazing and it is great to read how they are changing not only her but the whole of this book. Ashley is quickly learning to keep Lucifer on his toes and challenging his every move. Ashley is learn very quickly how to use her powers also. In the end can Ashley over take Lucifer or will she forever be his soul collector aka Death for life. C an Ashley and Eli finally be together. I absolutely recommend picking up this series. Valerie Twombly's writing is absolutely brillant.

Eli is trying to find a way to rescue Ashley from Hell with out getting her or himself killed but learning she has a path to follow that is destined by fate does not make it any easier. Ashley learns about her family history and finds herself training to do battle with the devil himself. I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. This is book 2 of the series Eternally Mated by the author. WOW another winner by the author in this series and just when I thought it could not get any better it does.

Having read almost everything that this author has written, I think this is the best plotted and developed story yet. I know, I said her last book was the best written, but this just might top it in development. In true Twombly fashion, we get a crazy plot, a dynamic cast, and desire for more. If you haven't started this series yet and you love paranormal romance, angel stories with a twist, or just reading in general, try the Eternally Mated series. This is not a stand-alone story. You have to read Fall Into Darkness first to understand the plot, and there isn't any summarizing or rehasing of the first book. This is really Ashley's story as she comes in to her own. She's not just the freak with the ability to see people die anymore. She's learning her heritage and what abilities she has that need tamed. She's sassy, headstrong, and has grown a lot since being the girl running to Alaska to hide from the world. I admire her and how she's taken it all in stride. There are some really amazing moments that will have you shouting "YES, THAT'S AWESOME." Eli really wants to be with Ashley and to end her contract with Lucifer, but every solution is coming up a dead end. And as the plot unfolds, they realize that her contract isn't really the big problem here. He's still as handsome and swoon-worthy as ever. There was a lot to love about the story. The secondary characters really rounded things out. The hellhound was amusing, there is a demon that is interesting, and Grandma is located. While the end wraps up this storyline, it teases you to what is coming. Set aside a few hours and dive through this series. You won't regret it. I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review, but that doesn't change my opinion.
