About the Author

Teri Brown is most proud of her children, but coming in a close second is the fact that she jumped out of an airplane and beat the original Legend of Zelda video game. She is a word scribbler, head banger, math hater, book reader, food fixer, kitty keeper, and city slicker. She is also the author of the Born of Illusion novels. Teri lives with her husband and way too many pets in Portland, Oregon.

Another enjoyable read by Teri Brown. Ms. Brown is a wonderful historical fiction writer, and this book finds her exploring outside the Roaring Twenties setting she mastered in the Born of Illusion series. This book takes place during WWI. I didn't feel like the sense of time and place was quite as good as the Born of Illusion series, but it was still an excellent story. Teri Brown does an excellent job of portraying the intricate webs of espionage and intrigue, especially at a time when countless lives depended on being the first to know. I particularly liked the chapter headings with espionage terminology and definitions, and I think the book was very insightful and well-researched in the area of female espionage in particular. The twist in this book was quite unpredictable, and I found it to be a very fitting and satisfying wrap up for the plot. I will certainly continue reading further historical fiction by Teri Brown.
