The uneasy truce with the enemies surrounding the Far Isles Half-Elven is collapsing. An unprovoked attack, that kills her granddaughter and almost kills her daughter, is evidence enough for Mariah. But, will the fierce warrior and her ring-mate, Ashton, be able to convince Linden, Lord High Commander of the Marches, that their people are in danger?
With attacks coming from the Trestemontans from over the eastern sea, hints of magic among the magic-hating Suthron Hounds, and Drummer Shamans using Spirit drums made from the skins of live human sacrifices, the Half-Elven warriors have reason to worry.

Though it comes in at just shy of 50 pages, Vengeance is such an intricate, multi-layered tale that the reader can’t help coming away from it thoroughly impressed. What appears to be a light, fantastical short story is actually a deftly crafted yarn of deep emotion, and even deeper drama. At the heart of the story are the pain and anguish felt by the half-Elven Mariah and her human husband Ashton, who have sworn revenge for the death of their beloved daughter. What begins as a personal vendetta, though, soon morphs into an all-encompassing threat to the entire half-Elven race, as Ashton and Mariah’s vengeful quest threatens to consume them. In relating the emotional roller coaster on which the grieving parents find themselves, author M.K. Theodoratus’ masterful storytelling shines through. You don’t have to be a parent or have lost a child to connect emotionally with her protagonists in their pursuit of justice; such is the superb character development and knack for suspense displayed in Theodoratus’ page-turning tale. Short but sweet, Vengeance is a fast-paced thriller by a proven literary talent. Quite the enjoyable read. Natalie Poulsen Apex Reviews
Whew! What a book. I swear these characters took me to a wild ride. This book is Fantastic !!! With all the suspense ...It kept me wanting to read more , I’m impressed ! As a conservative critic, I was genuinely surprised of how the Author made the story flow with an upbeat tempo that kept the attention of the readers.
Taking Vengeance by M. K. Theodoratus 3.5 Out of 5 Stars If you want a bit of fluff that you can mindlessly read, this is not the book for you. However, if you are looking for a whole new world to learn about and explore, then maybe this is your starting point. While I’ll admit I was very distracted by all of the weird names, most of which I couldn’t begin to pronounce ¿ and I spent the first few pages completely confused, Theodoratus’s world of half-elves and humans is completely thought-out and well-developed. The story starts with the characters already in action and doesn’t slow down until the end. It is a lot of information given very quickly from the very beginning, but worth the read. Mariah is a strong character, and I found myself cheering for her even from the first page. Overall, it has me wanting to jump into this world again… even if going there might be confusing at first. ¿ Amanda, My Secret Book Spot
Now this is what I call a total thriller, Mariah and Ashton mad could not stand to see it all go down like this. I love the way the author put it all together, creating a mystical world I totally enjoy. This story is nothing short of brilliant as it captivated my imagination throughout the entire story. The author has to be commended as it was not easy to identify any flaws which made the story appear any less real. A good read all over.
