USA Today bestselling author Aimee Easterling's new series is chock-full of "electric story telling" and "wild post apocalyptic world building."
Ever since dragon fire killed her parents, Amber Gardener has resolved to protect her enclave of illegal magic users from the dangers of the outside world. So when a winged intruder lands in her garden, the witch's initial impulse is to defend her neighbors using every weapon at her disposal...up to and including the use of deadly force.
But at the last moment, the invading dragon shifts into a mysterious yet handsome stranger whose calm nature prompts Amber to question everything she previously believed to be true. Too bad her childhood sweetheart has no such compunction against dealing with danger the quick and dirty way.
Enter a murderous dragon on the rampage, an unexplained fading illness, and a kind-hearted innocent kidnapped out of her bed. Can Amber abandon her post as protector and team up with her enemy in time to save people they both hold dear?
Dive into an exhilarating new adventure with this series of interconnected standalones. Books can be read in any order, but chronological order is as follows:

About the Author
She heats her house with hand-split firewood, writes on an ultra-geeky Linux box, and generally does her best to confuse all reasonable assumptions.
Studying biology and spending a year backpacking around the world have both informed Aimee’s writing, but she’s quite willing to let reality slide in favor of a good story. You can learn more and download a free starter library at www.aimeeeasterling.com.

This is an amazing "post apocalyptic" story with a unique take on the theme. Well written, it takes place almost 30 years after the event, and unlike most such stories, the world is overgrown with vegetation that has evolved a sentience and an alternate life forms, dragon shifters and earth witches, live side by side with the surviving humans. Embark on a wild adventure that has all the elements - love, hate, revenge and evil. I am looking forward to seeing more stories set in this future.
Well I have read a few of this writers books before so I knew reading would be a pleasure. But this refreshing new storyline? Totally rocked my interest! Dragon's plus an earth witch plus plant life that basically rules? And let's not forget Thea the goat! What's not to love! The sheer uniqueness of these scenarios had me glued to the book like my life depended on it! I was in suspenseful torture page after page wondering what the fate of the golden dragon would be. If you haven't read a book from this author yet, this one is guaranteed to make you a fan!
This is the first in a new series and I'm hooked already :-) Amber is a strong feisty character who I loved straight away and Zane appreciates a woman who says her mind. For me the sense of humour coming from not taking themselves too seriously is a real pull plus I loved getting the story from both points of view throughout rather than needing to wait for a side story to come out. I would definitely recommend and eagerly await the next book.
his was a different take on the typical shifter novel. Amber is an earth witch who has hated dragons ever since one killed her parents. Zane is a dragon shifter that is trying to find and meet his twin because he is trying to stay alive. The world has been changed by humans who were just trying to improve things for the poor. The country is now covered in plant life that has a mind of its own, literally. Kudzu can actually think? That can't be a good thing. Amber is connected to the earth and gains her strength from it. She has some control over the plants, if they want to help her and they demand a payment. This can come in handy when one needs to trap a dragon. Zane doesn't believe it when an earth witch traps him in plant life. Of course this was facilitated by the fact that he had a broken limb and had to shift back to human form, and the magic dampening collar that got away from him was a factor also. He had meant to use it on his twin, but instead the witch used it on him. Once he was caught however, he found himself admiring the witch and actually felt drawn to her. Amber is not sure why she is trying so hard to keep this human/dragon shifter around, but she finds herself making excuses to stay close to him. Unfortunately the people of the village she has always protected believe she has been tricked by the dragon and is under his control. They are out to harm him and she is not going to let that happen. You have to read this story for yourself. It is unusual and very entertaining. I am hoping for a sequel!
