Liked the book but I am not sure how accurate it was
Well documented! Abrams does a fabulous job recounting the history of a splendid palace and era in French history.
Excellent Book Historian Robert B. Abrams’s well-written book provides an informative and entertaining tour of the great Palace of Versailles. I rate it highly for the author’s story-telling ability and also its focus on the people who called Versailles home. His portrait of Louis XIV - and the many women who came in and out of his life - is especially revealing. Ditto the chapter on Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette and their tragic end. This book will appeal to history and royalty buffs as well as anyone who has visited the palace or would like to in the future.
