Vicious Cycle (Vicious Cycle Series #1) by Katie Ashley

New York Times bestselling author Katie Ashley revs up the danger and sexual tension in her brand-new Vicious Cycle romance series.

Deacon Malloy’s life is dedicated to the Hells Raiders motorcycle club. Tough, hard, and fast with his fists, he serves the group as sergeant at arms. But his devil-may-care approach to life is thrown for a loop when the five-year-old daughter he never knew existed lands on the club steps.

Alexandra Evans is devoted to all her students—but there’s always been something about Willow Malloy that tugs at her heart. There’s an aura of sadness about her, a girl in need of all the love Alexandra can give. When Willow stops coming to school, Alexandra’s search leads to a clubhouse full of bikers…and a father hell-bent on keeping his daughter always within sight.

The moment Deacon sees Alexandra, he has to have her in his bed—and he’s never met a woman yet who couldn’t be persuaded. No matter how attracted she is to Deacon, Alexandra refuses to be just another conquest. But it’s Deacon himself who could be seduced—into a brighter future for himself, his daughter, and the woman he’s falling for against all odds.

Review: Vicious Cycle by Katie Ashley Publication Date: June 2, 2015 Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Cori  Rated: 3.5 Stars  I liked this book, but I didn't love it the way I thought I would. I put off writing the review because I'm not sure how to explain that it's a good book, but there were parts I just did not like. I'm a huge fan of biker romances, but this one just didn't meet my expectations. I think the next book will be better because I loved Reverend in this book. He was more likeable than Deacon, the hero in this book. I will say I think some of you will still love "Vicious Cycle". I'm rating it 3.5 Stars because it held my interest, there were parts I enjoyed and I'm looking forward to the next book. I won't get into the parts that I didn't like because it would give away some of the story. Overall I liked it, I didn't love it, but I think some of you will. Not my usual kind of review, but I was conflicted about this one.  *Review copy provided by Penguin in exchange for an honest review.

I love to see bad bikers fall for the good girl. The chemistry was great, but I would have really liked a little more heat. The sex scenes were good, but could have been scorching! Isn't that what we expect from bikers?

I am a big fan of MC romances. I love them. This was up there as one of the best. If you have serious issues with violence in your romance books, you may be bothered some. I don't think the violence took away from the book. I have already preordered the next book in the series. Need I say more.

Interesting story idea, terribly written. I can get over the bland and repetitive descriptions, but the excessive internal monologue and retelling the characters' pasts make the story unreadable. A garbage MC book.

I know Katie Ashley can write some amazing romance so I was super excited when I first heard she was writing a motorcycle club (mc) romance. I may or may not have jumped this book to the front of my gigantic reading queue. It was worth it. Katie writes a sensational romance with twists that will leave you with your mouth gaping (I speak from experience). I fell in love with Willow Malloy first. The very first pages of the story are heart rending and I'm not ashamed to admit I had tears running down my face as I read it. I only fell further in love with her as the story progressed. Alexandra Evans was another character who stole my heart almost instantaneously. I loved how much she cared for Willow and was willing to go out of her way to do things for the little girl who needed her. Alexandra was one determined woman and I admired her. Deacon was somewhat of a surprise. He wasn't father of the year material, but he couldn't help it. Willow's existence was a total surprise to him and as the carousing second in command of a mc he was not remotely prepared for her. However it was how soon he came to care for Willow that won me over. Of course it doesn't hurt Alexandra is there to help smooth his transition from single guy to doting father, or that he lusts after her. The two had great chemistry. I enjoyed seeing them going back and forth. I must say when they finally gave in to the attraction they were feeling, I was surprised by how enthusiastically Alexandra dropped her proper teacher facade. The story is certainly gripping. There's so much going on and I almost forgot about the crisis that was coming. When things came to a head, I was shocked, but riveted in my seat. I couldn't stop reading. There were more moments of unchecked tears, some of even uncontrolled laughter, and plenty of disbelief. Honestly, this story is one ride you're going to have to read to experience. I can't wait to read more about the Hell's Raiders. I have a feeling a lot more laughter, swoons, and tears are in store for me

I seem to be in a biker romance phase, as several of the last books I've read have been about bikers and motorcycle clubs.  When the opportunity arose to read Vicious Cycle, I, of course, couldn't resist.  In Vicious Cycle, you have your badass biker dude whose name is Deacon.  There are also quite a few other badass bikers in the story, all of which were intriguing to say the least.  The female main character is Alexandra.  I really loved her.  Deacon, however, had to grow on me.  He had the hot factor going for him, but he was also kind of a jerk in the beginning.  Then there is Willow, sweet little Willow, and she was a doll.  She was also the main reason Alexandra Evans wound up in this world.  Alexandra is Willow's school teacher, and when Willow misses a few days, she goes to check on her.  From that point on, her life completely changes.   As the romance between Deacon and Alex blossomed, the chemistry between them was sizzling.  Despite her being the good girl, she could throw down with Deacon and gave as good as she got.  I was really impressed with the way she dealt with certain issues with him and how she handled his hardheadedness and temper.  She was also wonderful with Willow. It took me a while to get into this book, but when I did, I was hooked.  I think it was because I didn't like Deacon in the beginning, but as the story progressed, I grew to like him more and more, especially when Alex would give him a taste of his own medicine. He did really care for her, I will give him that, and by the end of the book he had totally redeemed himself.  The story is full of danger, action, and suspense.  There was also a wonderful epilogue, which left you feeling happy for Deacon, Alex, and Willow, but also highly anticipating the next book in the series.  Contemporary romance fans will definitely want to add this to there TBR list.
