A missing brother, an unlikely rapist, a determined bride and a lonely outcast are just a few of the "vicious little monkeys" who inhabit the same Bronx neighborhood. When a vengeful shotgun blast, some stolen money and the ghost of past deeds come into play, the monkeys discover that the Bronx does not let go of its own so easily.

I found this book to be a surprising read. I'm not sure if it is a short story collection or a running narrative, though the author states that it is a "collective " novel. Whatever it is, it is a great read. Strong characters and real situations (more so than a contrived plot line) give it an atmosphere of being the memoirs of many people rolled into one. From humor to hard words, strong women to confused young men, there is something for every expectation. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read something that will make them think and feel, rather than just chuck it on the pile of same-old stuff.
