I really enjoyed this book. Very sexy.
A few months back, I read McLaughlin and Dover’s Dark Room. It’s the first book in their Society X series and was an enjoyable read. Viewing Room is the second in the standalone series and another great book. While I did enjoy both books, there were different things to enjoy about them. Viewing Room was less focused on the club Society X, and instead had more of a private investigation feel, due to the main character’s professions. This helped add diversity to the series and I welcomed it more than if I were reading another similar book to Dark Room. I also really enjoyed Hunter and Kennedy. They both have a deep past and strong personalities. This made reading from their points of view really work for me. Even side characters, while not seeing as much of some as I would have liked, added to the story. I feel that overall the story was great and it was all entertaining. Though, near the end, the series of events were a little extreme compared to how the rest of the book was going. It was all well-written, and not totally out of left field, but at the same time almost too sensational for the tone set earlier on. On the other hand, this also helped set this book apart from the first in the series, while having Society X as the common thread. It’ll be interesting to see where these two authors go from here with the series. The possibilities are almost endless when a place like Society X and its diverse clientele are involved.
Ahhh-freakin-mazing!! Heidi & Leslie are a writing dream team with the Society X series!! I wasn’t sure how they could top DARK ROOM but holy hell they did!! VIEWING ROOM blew every expectation I had and then twist it up to be even better! Kennedy Vaughn is a workaholic, newly divorced woman who is resigned to convincing herself that her work life can fulfill her. Luckily for her, her best friend and business partner wants more for her and takes her to his club Society X to celebrate the next chapter in her life. She is both out of her element and totally curious about this world of sexual decadence. And then she spots a totally hot dancer and she can’t seem to keep her eyes away. Hunter Miles is working as a dancer at Society X as a means to an end. While he enjoys his job, sometimes a lot, it’s more a way to give himself a better life than his life’s dream. It’s just an ordinary day at the office for Hunter until he locks eyes with a gorgeous red head. As soon as he sees Kennedy he knows he needs to KNOW her. So when they meet in the Viewing Room, he decides that one taste is not going to be enough. What follows is a story about taking chances, finding love in unexpected ways and protecting what makes them happy. Hunter & Kennedy are hot and passionate and perfect. Seriously this was a total ‘can’t stop reading’, ‘gotta know what happens next’ kinda read! So grab your favorite drink, your favorite toy(with extra batteries) and a fan because Society X just made it hotter in here!!
4.25 stars---VIEWING ROOM is the second installment in the contemporary adult SOCIETY X erotic, romance series co-authored by Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover. This is Society X employee twenty five year old Hunter Miles, and thirty three year old attorney Kennedy Vaughn’s story line. Society X is an exclusive sex club where membership has its’ privileges and sometimes the cost is too high. VIEWING ROOM can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from dual first person perspectives (Kennedy and Hunter) VIEWING ROOM follows attorney Kennedy Vaughn as she steps out of her comfort zone and into Society X in celebration of her recent divorce. Enter Hunter Miles, Society X stripper and male entertainer and the man with whom our heroine will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Hunter and Kennedy, and the fall out of an investigation that threatens Kennedy’s life and the people at Society X. Kennedy’s latest case turns dangerous and personal. The attraction between Kennedy and Hunter is immediate. Hunter is Kennedy’s fantasy dance on the night of her celebration, and our couple immediately turns up the heat at the end of the night. Hunter is several years younger than our story line heroine, and in this Kennedy has some issues with his age, and his choice of employment and income. Hunter is a young man paying his way through university, and working for Society X is paying all of his bill, as well as someone close to his heart. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense and seductive. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Kennedy’s business partner Chris Marshall, and several office employees and clients. We are introduced to Hunter’s fellow dancers and Society X workers, as well as a number of patrons and regulars at the club. The world building focuses on Society X-the patrons, the back rooms, the employees who struggle with what they do and why. The Viewing Room allows the patrons to witness and watch without the benefit of touch or participation. VIEWING ROOM is an erotic storyline with some scenes of graphic violence and language. The premise is entertaining with a little bit of suspense; the characters are colorful, energetic and animated; the romance is passionate, intimate and beautiful. McLaughlin and Dover will captivate your imagination and make you blush with Viewing Room of Society X .
Received this book from the author for an honest review. I enjoyed this book. It's a steamy sexy read. I liked that Hunter is more than a stripper, he has goal and wants to be someone in life. He has his reasons for stripping. Kennedy is a lawyer, all she does is work and doesn't live her life. She's recently divorced and even when she was married all she did was work. There's immediate chemistry between Kennedy and Hunter. He makes her feel things she never has before. She wants to push Hunter away because he's a stripper and doesn't take him seriously. There's a age difference that is pointed out a few times but it's not that big of s difference. I like the way things develop between Hunter and Kennedy. I like that this is not just a sexy read and there's a plot to it. I really enjoyed this book and I would highly recommend it.
Interesting and sexy romantic suspense novel. Attorney Kennedy Vaughn is starting over. Her partner and best friend booked Kennedy’s divorce party at the posh sex club, Society X, and they intend to have some fun ogling the hottest men in Portland, Washington. Kennedy is drawn to stripper Hunter from the start, and her co-workers chip in to buy her a lap dance in the Viewing Room, an exhibitionist suite in the exclusive club. While the expected happens, it’s the end of the night that sets Kennedy’s workaholic world off its axis. Hunter’s in the parking lot when Kennedy leaves, and he’s down for more than just a game of Show and Tell. How can this straight-laced divorcee do the nasty in her own car’s front seat? Well…it took some wrangling. That said, it’s never going to happen again. And, when she literally runs into Hunter at her neighborhood Starbuck’s? Yep, that bathroom sex will NOT happen again. And, when Hunter turns up as one of the interns of her law practice? Okay, okay, no desk sex happens. But Kennedy and Hunter can’t keep their hands off each other when they are off the clock. It’s all heady and exciting, until Kennedy’s friend Jennifer turns up wanting a divorce from her (possibly) cheating husband, Chad. Seems that Chad has lots and lots of work meetings that semm to all take place at Society X’s Viewing Room. While Kennedy goes undercover to get the goods on Chad, Hunter’s biding his time in hsi role as stripper extraordinaire. Neither one likes that the other is in Society X, though Hunter doesn’t want to quit–he needs the money for school and expenses. Meanwhile, Kennedy struggles with the idea of her boyfriend being a sex worker, of a sort. In the past, Hunter would have eagerly provided whatever sexual service a patron wanted, for a fee. Now, though, he isn’t interested in any other women, and questions how fast he can save enough money to pay his bills so he can quit. I thought this would be an erotic romance, and it is, but it’s also a bit of a thriller, because there are big problems going down, mostly concerning Jennifer and Chad. The dude’s bad, bad news, and I was glad we didn’t have all his viciousness on the page. Expect blood, scars and tears–and a few seriously harrowing moments. I do love me some male stripper POV–Hunter talked a good game, and stroked a good bit, but the man has a way with that filthy mouth, too. Kennedy was thoroughly satisfied. So, the plot was interesting, the sexytimes were creative and plentiful, and the end was HEA. Big time.
The best word to describe this book? Hot Hot Hot!!! This book was so Hot and Steamy it fogged my glasses. With the heat came some suspense. Kennedy is a woman celebrating her divorce at Society X and Hunter is a stripper at the club. Of course, there are rules of Society X #1 No Names #2 No Exchanging Numbers #3 Everything is to remain anonymous Find out happens when lines blurred. This book can be read as a standalone.
The rules are simple… #1 No Names #2 No Exchanging Numbers #3 Everything is to remain anonymous But, it’s not always that simple. On her first night there, Kennedy meets one of the dancers, Hunter. The attraction is quick and intense. Can Hunter persuade Kennedy to break the rules and do something wild and reckless, like fall for him? Hunter isn’t your average club employee. You see, he’s working there to pay for his law degree. Yes, brains and sexiness all rolled into one. He’s just about finished with his degree and can see the end of his sex club career coming to an end. He’s grown up in the time he’s been working there, no longer interested in just a one night stand. But he will have to break down a lot of barriers to get into Kennedy’s heart. She’s just come out of a divorce and not looking for anything serious. Especially with an employee of the club. These books are so well written that I breeze through them and am left wanting more. They are full of everything the best romances can be, things like suspense, romance, sex. I have yet to read a bad book by either one of the fabulous authors and can’t wait for the next one to come out.
McLaughlin and Dover bring the heat in the second story in the Society X series. From go, you get all that you're looking for in a hot, fabulous read. Hunter and Kennedy will melt your...umm...socks, yeah socks, off! Make sure you have a partner to satisfy your needs while reading this story, you will definitely need it! Can we get the next book, like RIGHT NOW???
