Villain by Samantha Young

The sexy and emotional companion novella to the New York Times bestselling romance HERO.

Nadia Ray is not just a broadcast meteorologist. She’s Boston’s morning television It Girl. Successful and independent, she’s put a past she’s ashamed of behind her and is forging a future she can be proud of. However, when her new boss discovers her secret he blackmails her, intent on using Nadia’s popularity to make them the number one morning show in Massachusetts. He wants her to be part of uncovering the city’s biggest scandal - a secret billionaire Caine Carraway is hiding.

Soon Nadia is thrown into the path of Caine’s best friend: sexy, wealthy bachelor Henry Lexington. But she doesn’t encounter the dashing high society gentleman Henry is purported to be. Instead she’s faced with an insulting and defensive villain who misjudges her at every turn.

When Henry finally realizes the truth, and decides to make amends, Nadia wants nothing to do with him. But she underestimates his determination and charm and soon they find themselves embroiled in an intense, passionate affair.
An affair Nadia knows must come to an end before their feelings grow any deeper and he discovers her secrets.
After all, Henry Lexington isn’t the only one who played the part of a villain once…

Having read and loved Hero, I was super excited when Samantha announced this novella. I really wanted to get back to that world and I really rally wanted to read a book by one of my favorite authors. Villain did not disappoint it is packed with banter, sexy times and a couple that left me wanting more, another great book to get me out of my reading slump.

“One moment of kindness can change everything.” “Kindness costs nothing and yet it’s worth everything.” “I acted like my story deserved a hero. But only a heroine deserves a hero. And I wasn’t a heroine. I couldn’t be. The truth was in someone else’s story…I was a villain.” “I wanted to believe that these kisses were real. That his longing was as real as mine.” No one quite delivers the romance and angst quite like Samantha Young. Her writing is always flawless and will leave you utterly captivated. Villain might just be a novella, but I promise you that this story packs a punch. It delivers all the feels and gives you an unforgettable romance. Villain is one of those books that just sucks you in immediately. The characters are intriguing and have real world problems. I found them very easy to connect with and couldn’t wait to see how their story would play out. I loved getting lost in Henry and Nadia’s story. Their banter was entertaining and I loved the pull between the two of the. Nadia did not make things easy for Henry, but let me tell you, Henry is not the kind of man that will ever step away from a challenge. Watching these two together, and seeing them trying to navigate their way to a happily ever after was a lot of fun. Nadia and Henry were far from perfect; each perfectly flawed in their own ways. But together, the spark and connection was undeniable and just left you begging for more. Villain was a quick and easy read for me; one that I definitely finished in one sitting. I really enjoyed the story-line and fell in love with the characters. Nadia and Henry’s story didn’t feel like a novella whatsoever. It hit all the marks with just the right of angst, drama and sexy good times. I thought this story was a great addition to the Hero Series and I look forward to seeing what this author will have in store for us next.

Once again Samantha Young has written a perfect love story, with back stories and hidden details that keep you reading and feeling all the way through. Henry was someone who made me laugh in Hero, and so when I heard the author was going to be giving us Henry's story, I was excited to read about his happy ever after. We got to meet Nadia in Hero, and I really liked her. So when she keeps alluding to something in her past that makes her not good enough for Henry, I can't for the life of me imagine what it could be. And then there are the gifts she gets from someone in her past, that is like a stalker, and we don't quite know who he is, or what the story it, but it lends an air of mystery that kept me guessing the whole way through. The book is told from Nadia's point of view, and you felt for her the whole time. At the beginning, Henry came across as someone not as nice, especially the way he acted toward Nadia at first. In fact I figured that something had already happened between the two the way it started, I figured at first the stalker issues were Henry, but it wasn't. The story started before we had met her in Hero, and I liked getting that back story. Another book I will be highly recommending to people, as with all of the other books I've read by Samantha Young.
