Overview

Virtual War (The Virtual War Chronologs Series #1) by Gloria Skurzynski

Imagine a life of virtual reality -- a childhood contained in a controlled environment, with no human contact or experiences outside of the world of computer-generated images.

Corgan has been genetically engineered by the Federation for quick reflexes, high intelligence, and physical superiority. Everything Corgan is, everything he has ever seen or done, was to prepare him for one moment: a bloodless, computer-controlled virtual war.

When Corgan meets his two fellow warriors, he begins to question the Federation. Now Corgan must decide where his loyalties lie, what he's willing to fight for, and exactly what he wants in return. His decisions will affect not only these three virtual warriors, but all the people left on earth.

Virtual War by Gloria Skurzynski was a very well written and very well thought out book. The author really makes you feel as though you are in the world and can imagine the scenery around. The story is in a future world where global contamination has necessitated limited human contact, three young people with unique genetically engineered abilities are teamed up to wage a war in virtual reality. The characters were very distinct and intelligent making the book merely impossible to set down. The setting caries greatly, with a very wide view of what is around. The author really did a good job describing the characters and the places although I did find myself thinking, "What is that?" or "What does that mean?" I thought that the book was great and was well written and well worded. There were a few words that I don't think that anyone below the sixth grade would understand. So I would absolutely recommend this book to someone higher than sixth gradeIn conclusion I think that the book was a great book and I think that it would just be wonderful to anyone that likes to play video games. It really captures the readers attention with all the futuristic technology that is explained. Overall I thought this was a very great book with great description of the characters and the setting. Along with a great story with action and excitement, the book really captures your attention. I would highly recommend it to sixth graders and higher.

although i had to read this in a book partner thing i hated the idea but till i started to read this book it was one of the best books i read although the problem is that the end was sad and it seems that they should make anthere book that continues from where it left off and says what sarla really is. So overall this is a great book with future stuff and about a virtual war so READ IT.
