Post revolution Iran. Sassan, a teacher by day, taxi driver by night, and his wife Nazanine struggle financially to pay a deposit on a house. After borrowing some money from a couple of loan sharks, their problems begin.
Due to circumstances beyond their control they flee Iran in fear of their lives. They arrive in England, a place of hopes and dreams, and apply for asylum. In the court of appeal they go over and over their story unaware that they are overheard by Arash Vaziri, an Iranian born British citizen who happens to be their translator.
